The sound and the fury.....signifying nothing.

If it wasn't Trump, it would be someone else, from either branch of the Uniparty, stroking the egos of the voters, calling to jingoistic patriotism, telling them that, somehow, the USA is exceptional, and of course then, so are they.

Trump is accelerating the economic triumph of BRICS, but it could have been Hilary, or Biden in his younger days, or Vance, or some other electable stooge.

The sound and fury of 51st state, Greenland, Panama, more recently tariff negotiations which are mainly unenforceable...are just sound and fury. What's the reality?

The USA is one of the two largest global economies, and has the reserve currency, so its dependent trading partners, like India, Canada, and the EU, can't easily or quickly disengage. Over time, they will. From their PoV, they must. The USA is not trustworthy.

Desperate US measures, like threatening bilateral trade without the USD, sanctioning involved banks; increasing tariffs on third countries trading with Russia, sacking BLS directors who can't or won't falsify data; will work for a while, but not for long. It's worked for decades since 1971, but time is running out.

The globe, and the USA, will recover from this long-delayed reckoning of what is true value.

The other countries of the globe will sell their products, and import, as they choose given the new conditions. Over time, they will need the USD less and less, and buy less Treasuries.

The USA will therefore print more money, (especially if the Uniparty takes over the Fed), and as the USD drops in value (whether it be the greenback, or a desperate digital facsimile), the American worker (and retiree) will be paid the same nominal amount, but be able to buy less.

In time, the US economy will recover, because the average US citizen will be paid about the same as the average PRC or Indian citizen, and US products will be globally competitive.

(Especially if the US raises its standards of STEM education, to match the Indians and PRC. )

This is a forecast. Here is another one. The USA won't go quietly into the night. It will use its magnificent Army, Navy and Air Force to have one tumultuous war, which it might even 'win', but which will destroy its Empire, just as the British Empire won, but lost, WW2.

Wow, this is great: two columns for the price of one today! The British Empire won? Have you seen what happened at Yalta in February, 1945, when FDR practically ignored Winston Churchill and practically groveled at the feet of Josef Stalin? Talk about picking winners and losers, and we all lost there. Big Time. Best always. PM

Unfortunately, John, America no longer has a "magnificent" Army, Navy, and Air Force. It isn't capable of fighting and winning any prolonged engagement. This has been shown since Korea. Wins - zero! What the U.S. government can do is bomb. It is incapable of anything else as witnessed in both Yemen and the Iran/Israel 12-day war. After 12 days America was done. Plus now the U.S. government doesn't have the means to rampart up production of weapons for a variety of reasons including neither the capacity or raw materials. China - the world's premiere refiner of rare earths - has essentially chocked the U.S. access. A few here, a few there but nothing substantial.

And, one would think our government had to know that. But, apparently, they didn't. That reality is hard to swallow and keep believing the U.S. propaganda. The only thing the U.S. has is nuclear bombs but the rest of the major powers do too. Maybe not the quantities (but that is hard to know) but clearly at least Russia and China have more advanced technology to deliver along with no viable defense over the continental U.S.

For those awake and not drinking from the sophistry of the torpor neocons professing the U.S. superiority, the future is clear. The U.S. will continue to sink into the swamp accelerated by the US$ accelerating destruction.

The World has been shown the U.S. is not trustworthy at all. It will say anything and everything or promises this or that without meaning a lick of it.

It is beyond this ol' man to understand how people have been led to drink the kool-aid. As always, just an ol' man's view.

America did not have a pony in the race in any of these engagements. We were fighting for the Federal banking cartel. When faced with a real enemy the American military backed by the majority of citizens and the media will kick ass.

The idea America cannot ramp up weapon production for lack of the materials is ludicrous. Rare earth minerals are not in short supply they are all over America as they can be extracted from coal. Refining rare earth minerals from coal only costs more at this time. However, if the supply was cut off the cost would be of no concern and processes to make extraction less costly would be invented. As my father like to say: "Money Makes Shit Happen". I would speculate devolving the electric car industry and the existing vehicles would yield quite a bit of these materials.

History is witness no empire or occupation of a foreign people can last more than a few years without those conquered benefiting to a high degree. Slavery, robbery, and the negation of freewill by an occupier is a great motivation to fight back. Remember for all the Left's efforts there are 533 million guns they know of in private hands and I would speculate that number is probably off by 50%. In a pinch a gun is not at all hard to create and it's not at all necessary while in close proximity for a gun to use gun powder to launch a projectile.

As for the old LSO you might consider getting out more, and exposing yourself to more positive conservative news outlets or move out of the city you currently live. Interact with the work a day people, you'll be very surprised or travel some speak to the locals. People are generally good, there's a handful of nuts and malcontents more in the big cites where they tend to be rewarded, no so much out side of the city.

The World has changed significantly and continues to change at an accelerating pace over my lifetime. Frankly, it appears - at least to me - America is falling further and further behind. The US$ is sinking fast. No one trusts America anymore for, unfortunately, good reason. It isn't our Father's America anymore. I get it - my view is short sighted and all wrong. It doesn't align and is mis-guided from main stream America - that's doesn't make it wrong just makes it uncomfortable for most to ponder at all. I have to agree and disagree if America can hold the nation together, it will save itself by creating a one party system equal to what America has experienced in all major cities and States under Democratic party rule since the late 1960's. We are living in a pivotal moment in history economies over the entire planet are based on the USD it in turn is smoke and mirrors, the debt cannot be paid back because one cannot use a debt instrument to clear a debt. The national debt of every nation is denominated in USD or Federal Reserve debt notes.

I believe the Trump team is misunderstood and I might have misjudge his intentions.

I've come to believe the elites wanting to retain what they have will fall into line behind Trump and this includes many in the Democratic party. Many voters in Blue cities are seeing the light, with migration and the deterioration of their cities as a result of uncheck crime, drugs, and general lawlessness.

We can see the same playing out in Europe, where unchecked immigration from the thrid world has destroyed the peace and the culture.

No longer does Disney, AT&T, Comcast, Viacom, CBS, and 21st Century Fox control the narrative. The grass roots much like the early American printing press has undermined the king's monarchy. Substack, Truth Social, Rumble, X, Newsmax, NewsNation, even FB to an lesser degree have rallied Americans. We are beginning to think as one people apart from the divisions forced on us by the Left. The Left assumed it was in a position to force its policies upon the people with no resistance. Control every aspect of every citizen through government intervention, we are there, and now many have had enough watching the favored class ignore all social norms and be rewarded for doing so.

Trump is not yet a year in office the midterms are looming cheating will be harder. If Trump gains a majority in both houses or the ear of Democrats being pressured by voters to consider Trumps agenda , the nation has a chance to create a soft landing for the world. In place of a crash and burn there can be a gentle unwinding of the damage created by the Federal Reserve bank and our government's abuse of every economy on the planet. The elites and their Leftist stooges tried to derail Trump with every system in place, judicial, spy, media, even resulting to assassination. Now in office Trump has unleashed his pack of blood hounds to sniff out dirt on every government official and corporate bigwig. Yes, they will be complying it is the Art of the Deal.

Hi Dennis T; I can't make a useful reply about much of your letter, I not being a 'Merican, but "The national debt of every nation is denominated in USD or Federal Reserve debt notes." is incorrect.

The national debt of countries is denominated in the currencies of those countries that are trade partners; and increasingly, that is not the USD. That is why Trump and Bessent are threatening countries that settle bilaterally, thereby undermining the USD as reserve currency.

I choose to believe that you meant "the national debt of every nation that trades with the USA, is denominated in USD or Federal reserve Notes".

That is true, when those trading nations swap earned USD for Treasuries. (They don't have to do that).

Yes, this is increasingly true with the BRICS nations. My statement was more on the level if the dollar fails 90% of the world's economies will also. Moreover, most crypto is bought with Stable coins where in the majority are valued in USD.

Until crypto sheds all fiat valuation from all nations and becomes accepted tender to settle all transactions the dream of honest money can only be achieved with a gold backed currency. The Petro dollar is backed by oil, bullets, and extortion.

Well saddle my grandmother and call her Secretary of Tariffs, sounds like Caesar done reincarnated in a spray-tanned meat suit and decided the Constitution was just an outdated appetizer menu for the Olive Garden of Empire. We ain’t running on democracy no more folks, we are driving a bloated Ford Bronco full of sycophants straight off the fiscal cliff, brakes cut, GPS rerouted to Rome, 21 B.C., destination, Glorious Collapse. Trade wars that feel like poorly-scripted reality TV reruns, economic numbers that vanish like ethics in a lobbyist’s diary, and bureaucrats who get fired faster than interns at Epstein’s island resort, this ain’t governance, this is vaudeville soaked in blood and branded “freedom.”

And now, every stat’s gotta pass a loyalty test. “Boomin’ economy?” Better say so, or the Data Fairy gets waterboarded in the Rose Garden. The Big Man doesn’t read tea leaves, he writes them in Sharpie, duct-tapes them to the BLS’s face, and calls it “transparency.” He doesn’t want advisors, he wants parrots with golden beaks and a fear of flying. Would Bill,Tom, or, Dan, except numbers as screwed up as the BLS releases? All businesses in every state have to report at least quarterly most frequently. The number of employees they have. It's to do with income tax.State unemployment and workman's compensation. At the bottom of every state's form you have to report the number of employees. When employees added, you have to add it on the state's form when employee is deleted.Or terminated you have to delete it. If you fail to do so the state will be on you very quickly. This argument about the b l s not being able to get data timely is absurd. Given that government is so ineffectual perhaps they should just demand correct data from the states quickly. Maybe they're just sending that to the social security cave. Otherwise it's simple and easy. Fifty reporting agents? How about an X l spreadsheet this is ridiculous.
