Home is where the heart is. But history tells us that there are good times to be somewhere else. The French in 1914…the Russians in 1917…Germans in 1933.
Well gosh golly why all the fuss? Bill tells us Iran had already agreed not to make a nuclear bomb. Who are we to question their word or Bills ‘special’ knowledge on this topic? There is absolutely zero evidence that Iran has any other than wholesome intentions. Have those well intended Iranians been misunderstood again???
It's amazing how cloistered Bill is. He either isn't aware of or chooses to ignore the fact that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) just sanctioned Iran for failing to explain why they had nuclear material they aren't supposed to have (you know, in keeping with those ". . . diplomatic negotiations…rules…inspections…non-proliferation treaties"). It's important to understand that the IAEA is a UN affiliated agency, which by definition is no friend of the U.S. It's sad that we couldn't have resumed the "What to do with your money now" series and instead had to read this drivel. Free Bill Bonner I pray!
Forget the IAEA. Forget the tens of thousands of centrifuges. Forget enriching uranium far past the levels used for anything but a nuclear bomb. Forget the Iranian doomsday clock counting down the destruction of Israel. Bill is the kinda optimistic fella who just can’t help but give the benefit of the doubt to a regime that has murdered thousands of Jews indiscriminately for 40 years and pledged to destroy the U.S. Bill understands them better than most.
Most people on this planet would not regard Iran as a threat to the US.
One likely consequence of his war with Iran will be renewed interest among other countries to possess nuclear weapons and, ideally, a delivery capability (e. g., North Korea).
I fear there will be more shoes dropping thanks to Trump's precipitous action
A mental disorder for sure, but not for reasons you might be thinking. My wife, a much smarter person than me, has said that their hubris and arrogance stems from the conviction that they are nicer, more sincere, and most of all, nobler than us. That they are smarter and more educated is passe', everyone knows that, don't you know? It's a lot like reading Bill's daily drivel. As a tip of the cap to Reagan, Bill knows many things that just aren't so.
Why are we concerned about Iran acquiring a nuke when Israel already has over 200? Doesn't our foreign policy push other countries to acquire nukes? Gaddafi gives up his nuclear program and we kill him. North Korea has nukes and the US leaves them be.
Iran is the last piece of the puzzle for attaining Greater Israel. Iran is a big piece of China's Silk Road initiative which would significantly challenge U.S. government hegemony. Only the ideologically compromised can't comprehend this. I'd have much more respect for these governments if they were straight with us, but there's no incentive since they can lie with impunity.
No. I woke up when I read about the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty and the Dancing Israelis. Also even in the Israeli press it was reported that Nuttyyyahoo's goal was to get the US into a war with Iran. Check out this comparison of countries designated for regime change first by NuttyYahoo and then on the list given to General Wesley Clark after 9/11 at the Pentagon: https://chatgpt.com/share/6859b42f-7400-8010-883f-f11e85bf8185
Just what I thought. It blows my mind why the entire world just sits around and lets this rogue insane "government" in Iran bluster and declare that they live to remove Israel off the face of the earth. And we are also in their insane threats. They should be isolated until the people rise up and get rid of their insane, fanatical "leaders". Religious nut jobs.
Isn't it fascinating how some people will compliantly "tug the forelock" for those like the Mullahs, who blackmail their entire families with credible threats of annihilation, yet "nip at the heels" of those who won't put up with these threats and have the guts to do something about it? Then brag, like a true Rosie O'Donnell sycophant, about "taking shelter" in a foreign country.
Starting to see now why democrats want tampon machines in their men's rooms. Starting to more fully understand what the recent "No Kings" demonstrations were really all about - more resentment driven by cowardly envy.
"Balls" said the Queen(s), if I had them, I'd be King....
After the holocaust, the Jews said, ‘never again!’
I’m not Jewish but I believe them when they say ‘never again.’ I also believe the Iranian leaders when they chant, ‘death to Israel, death to America.’ And, after the barbarity of the Iranian sponsored October 7 terror attacks on Israel is it wise to give them the benefit of the doubt?
We are not building bombs to kill all Jews and western infadels. We are friendly. We put everything 300 Feet inside a mountain as that is where infidels fear to tread. Our development of balstic missiles, our space program, is designed to get us closer to the virgins. How come these guys always need a towel nearby. Their new missile is called the "Towel Head Crusty Heavy. LA LA LA LA LA .
To come full circle." We are peaceful..
That's quoted in the 1979 "libernational Living.' Iran is very peaceful. Tell that to the hospital... the last diplomats from the United States in Iran
The date is a bit ironic. I wonder what the magazine said about the events and Iran then. Let's move to Iran. It's a peaceful country? Check out my gypsy trailer?
A decision in search of a rationale. Basically TDS, with the twist that "he (Trump) made me do it". As if one has no agency of ones own or any discretion in the matter.
Anyone that would believe the Iranians statements, as to their "good intentions", even as they act always to prevent full inspection and secret away their nuclear enrichment facilities under mountains - yet would totally discount the same people threatening annihilation, has far bigger problems than their own credibility.
Each to their own. People are made of different "stuff", but this sort of analysis has no place in any leadership role in our nation.
Truly a very naive article. And some outright lies about Iran being in compliance when the UN finally sanctioned them for FAILURE to comply. Guess you forgot that. How many times were the UN inspectors turned away, guess you forgot that too. My advise stay in Ireland, please don’t come back since you have hatred for the USA & obviously an extreme hate for Trump. Don’t come back for your own sanity.
Perhaps it's Bill's love for the US that inspired him. But if you don't trust Iran's nuclear program what about Israel? They do not even acknowledge their nukes let alone prevent inspectors. Why isn't the UN sanctioning Israel?
Most likely not for lack of trying. I, for one, would like to see the UN moved to the Hague along with all of the other neutered "world governance bodies" that are ritually ignored when their trade relations are at issue.
So tell me oh sage, does Israeli leadership chant "Death to fill in the blank"? Has Israel sponsored terrorist activity that has killed Israelis, Americans and others? (Please don't tell me it was defensive or retaliatory.)
Why would inspections be necessary when Israel has had nukes for decades and hasn't used them? You guys really aren't very good at connecting dots. You and Bill must be kindred spirits, with a vast chasm of empty space between your ears.
I find it upsetting that a communist country, with many internees in re-education camps, is funding roads, rail and other infrastructure world-wide, developing its soft power, but bombing nobody and earning the admiration of many; while the capitalist democratic country with a Constitution that determines only its Congress can declare war, is meanwhile insulting its former allies, imprisoning more than 2 million of its own citizens in commercially run labor prisons, and bombing Iran at the order of Israel.
I could go on, but that's why I subscribe to BB; the American citizen who at least tries to get his fellow Americans to look at what they once were, and what they are now.
However, they won't look in the mirror; the USA should perhaps rename itself to the MIC and be done with it.
Relativist sophistry. TDS in search of a coherent rationale for unmitigated hate, that simply seeks to confer victim status on yourself, while blaming others.
I see nothing to be disappointed or sad about at all. There is risk in everything and, at times such as these, greater risk in doing nothing.
Frankly, as "weakness invites aggression" (a JFK paraphrase), perhaps you should also contemplate the words of one of the other past democrat heroes, FDR: "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself". I would also encourage everyone to contemplate for a moment the brilliance evident in the planning and execution of the "Midnight Hammer" operation. The brilliance in the planning of the Israeli Mossad taking out the Hezbollah leadership with explosive cell phones planted years prior. Their more recent exploits in assembling Drone weapons on Iran's own soil.
Sure one can be sad that we live in a world that makes all of this necessary, but hand-wringing is not an appropriate response and certainly not when the barbarians are literally at or have already been admitted, through our (southern border) gate by those who are gleefully naive..
Yes, FDR, their hero who put US citizens in internment camps and allowed the Japanese to bomb Pearl Harbor so he could drag us into WWII. Hero indeed!!!
Hi Ed...you are back to the Democrat-bashing again. I told you - you Americans are all the same to me.
I agree with you, the operations were magnificently executed, by the most powerful and technologically brilliant military force the world has ever seen. As a former Naval officer (not the USN) I can applaud the professionalism.
I'm just sad and disappointed that the USA continues to be so similar to the PRC and Iran, when it used to be the shining beacon, or the light on the hill, or something like that. A hope for mankind.
The only thing to fear is fear itself - Yes, Americans are fearful; of the PRC, the desperate immigrants crossing the Rio Grande; the other American who doesn't look like you. Etc etc. Why do you live in fear like that?
I think you need it, nowadays. You've become used to it.
You can change, to be a bit more like you were, when FDR was around. Eisenhower is gone; Kennedy was assassinated; but surely there is someone who can take the most powerful country in the world, tame the MIC, balance the budget, outdo the PRC in soft power (take the money from the MIC) and restore the USA to what is has always aspired to be?
How about you, Ed? Ed Burns for POTUS - and Bill Bonner as VP, to keep whispering in Ed's ear, 'you are mortal'.
This business regarding Trump not having gone to Congress to declare War provides a fascinating insight into the incoherent nature of the current democrat party of butt-hurt election malcontents.
The Korean "War" was actually a "police action". As was Vietnam, Grenada, Somalia, Libya, etc., etc. - all kinetic actions involving troop deployment and all prosecuted by the hands of alternating democrat and republican administrations.
No troops deployed against Iran's forces at the moment. Plenty of warnings issued before taking action. Diplomatic initiatives repeatedly rejected for decades on end by a murderous cult threatening our nation with their "final solution" of nuclear annihilation, in an age of rampant terrorism. Only the truly cowardly voices among us would shrink from doing what is required to put an end on this one.
Let's just be brutally honest here, the democrats in DC are simply pissed off that Trump kept them in the dark on his "Midnight Hammer" operation. Why? Because they can't be trusted. A very sad but also very accurate assessment of the modern democrat political party, whose street forces are now committed to "One World Government" and are fully willing to act to overthrow our own as ante'.
Now, busily fanning the dying embers of a lost election in an attempt to impose their own rule by use of street force. Riots, unconstitutional breakaway declarations of "Sanctuary cities and states" in full opposition to our Constitutions Supremacy Clause. As a young nation we had seen this once before - and it didn't end well for them then either.
Why does everything seem to be a Republican/Democrat stoush to you guys?
I'm not a Democrat, Ed; I'm not even an American.
As I've written previously, from an outside foreigners viewpoint, the USA seems to be run by a Uniparty; and no matter who POTUS is this time around, there's always a war to be had, and bombs to be dropped. The MIC is in control, and damn the deficit, full speed ahead. Oh, and the Debt Clock says $37T was passed a day or so ago.
Meanwhile the USA's health system sucks (I had to get special expensive insurance to visit USA, it's much cheaper to travel anywhere else) and the USA is kicking out 'your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free'.
That I don't quite understand - 32 other western countries have free or low-cost health care, which immigrants are entitled to; but that's a financial burden that the USA doesn't even shoulder for its citizens.
I can't see the attraction of crossing the border, unless you are healthy enough to harvest vegetables and run from ICE; USA is no place to be ill and poor.
i don't know why you don't know why we don't want the wife beaters, gang members and loafers who just want the freebies from us taxpayers if you are not from the usa maybe we can send all the wife beaters and gang bangers to you!
You’re wrong on the illegals front. They get free healthcare, schooling and welfare. And the American people/taxpaying slaves get the “privilege” of footing the bill.
Bill continues ignore the reality in the world to push his foggy vision of what is going regardless of additional information which has been ignored in his writings. To wit a June 12th resolution from IAEA:
(e) Regretting that despite the above resolutions by the Board and numerous opportunities
provided by the Director General since 2019, Iran has failed to provide the co-operation required
under its Safeguards Agreement, impeding Agency verification activities, sanitizing locations,
and repeatedly failing to provide the Agency with technically credible explanations for the
presence of uranium particles of anthropogenic origin at several undeclared locations in Iran or
information on the current location(s) of nuclear material and/or of contaminated equipment, instead stating, inconsistent with the Agency’s findings, that it has declared all nuclear material
and activities required under its Safeguards Agreement,
(o) Reiterating its concern that Iran has still not provided necessary, full and unambiguous
cooperation with the Agency and has not taken the essential and urgent actions as decided by the
Board in its June and November 2024 resolutions, with the consequence that Safeguards issues
remain outstanding despite numerous interactions with the Agency since 2019, with serious
implications for the Agency’s ability to ensure verification of the non-diversion of nuclear
material required to be safeguarded under Iran’s NPT Safeguards Agreement to nuclear weapons
or other nuclear explosive devices, and
(p) Concerned that the Agency is at an impasse with regards to resolving these issues,
The Iranian military is not a global threat and, as of today, is barely a regional one. A large army with no Air Force is not a ground invasion force. The threat from Iran, and it is a formidable one, is their numerous proxies, both regional and global. Many have been saying for years now that there are thousands of them in the US., having arrived largely through our southern border. Former members of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force have gone public in describing the threat, one saying last year that the FBI knows that there are approximately 30,000 Hezbollah terrorists operating in sleeper cells here. Our government has not prepared the American people for this threat. They have kept us in the dark about it, save a few whistleblowers. I don’t say this to induce fear but rather to induce awareness. Keep your head on a swivel, especially now.
Hi Bill, "But Iran had already agreed not to make a nuke. And it had gone along with diplomatic negotiations…rules…inspections…non-proliferation treaties — all intended to keep it from doing so." Where did you find this information? I'd like to read.
I have a suspicion the media may be making something up. At least it appears they are following a common narrative which makes me wonder if we're getting manipulated. I'd like to read another side. Doesn't mean I will agree with it. I'm also curious as to Bill's news sources. I might expand my news consumption horizons.
My advice to you and to Bill would be to start with the British rule over the Levant, including Palestine, and the re-mapping of the moder ME in the wake of the Balfour Declaration of post-WWI.
Pay particular attention to the intransigence of the Islamists regarding the territory comprising modern day Israel.
Get your perspective from the myriad historical accounts as can be found in the historical records - not current "news".
So, Bill, what do you make of the latest IAEA report? The report says the Mullahs violated the agreement by enriching uranium from the agreed-upon 3.6 percent to 60 percent, close to bomb territory.
Giving Bill the benefit of the doubt was a big mistake. He came back to earth for 2 days of normalcy, now he’s back to his bullshit poorly informed self. Iran was close to having or has already developed a nuclear weapon. They have not allowed the IAEA to check out all their nuclear facilities. Why enrich 60% and why have their nuclear sites 300 feet into a concrete mountain if you’re interested in peace. Iran has promoted terror throughout the Middle East for 50 years. President Trump is the only president with balls; the majority of the Iranian people have nothing but gratitude. Some will demonstrate because they are scared from the Iranian government. Bill-take your head out of the sand or elsewhere it may be (down south).
Let's see; the U.S. government now has two proxy wars and has castrated DOGE. Time to ditch the MAGA Kool-Aid and prepare for the oncoming sovereign debt crisis. It was fun while it lasted, but MIGA wasn't having any part of it :-)
"But due to changes in CPI methodology, there is a school of thought that CPI understates actual inflation in the economy." Funny how every methodology change lowers the reported CPI. Just coincidence, right :-) Once again for those who are ideologically compromised; the single biggest threat to your life, liberty, and property is the U.S. government.
Bill is no moron, yet his expressed views, these days, are very strange indeed. I sense that he, like so many other malcontent democrats, having lost an election to a very energetic candidate, are now simply desperate to put some clothing on their embarrassingly naked "Emperor Biden's" skinny ass, for the history books now being written. If Trump doesn't screw up - and he's doing well so far - they are the losers for all of time.
Ego is definitely a problem for Bill. It’s so obvious that he’s extremely jealous of President Trump. Not sure why, but it’s glaringly clear. It’s a pity to be so rich and yet so envious. Not a very good look, and no way to go through life. Especially at his age. Just sad, if it wasn’t so destructive.
Since I am as far from a "neocon" as one can be, and because I made a very conscious choice, many years ago, to think the best until proven wrong, I find Mr. Bonner's sarcasm and tds quite disconcerting. However, in mho, and from the information I have found and researched, the theocrats in Iran are indeed a threat - a death cult - that is determined to obliterate Israel and replace the USA as a strong, Western, Christian country based on Judeo/Christian Bible values with their extreme Islam...
Wow, if Bonner believes Iran "had agreed to not build a nuclear weapon", I have a bridge to sell him. Sometimes I wonder why I subscribe to this newsletter with some of the nonsense he puts out.
Too late about that bridge! Someone already “sold” him that ranch in Argentina that’s actually owned by the Originario’s! Maybe that’s one of the reasons why he’s become so bitter in his doddering old age.
Frankly, folks, continuing to read the drivel posted by the propagandized neocons-want-a-bes gets old so quick. Ol' Man Bonner once said - "There are things that are true, whether you believe them or not." Hopefully, you are enjoying the cool-aid.
Well gosh golly why all the fuss? Bill tells us Iran had already agreed not to make a nuclear bomb. Who are we to question their word or Bills ‘special’ knowledge on this topic? iRan, isn't that the new line of running shoes from Apple?
...then an iSlam would be the new IHOP religious pancake breakfast?
Much agreed Jim
Going barefoot "grounds" us to reality...
I enjoyed Bill's writing & then.... I think it is time to cancel the auto-renew. RIP open minded writings
Bill's remarks today are poignant and spot on.
Our Ready-Fire-Aim president anxiously joined a war rather than allowed aggressive diplomacy time to at least try end it.
One consequence: a reinvigorated arms race as foes and friends alike. wary of Trump, gear up in case he starts waving his sabre at them
I didn't know one could be poignant and ignorant at the same time, amazing.
Yes Dave, they are called democrats. It’s definitely a mental disorder…

OMG, I threw up in my mouth reading this garbage
... or possibly Trump stopped a war before it got out of hand...
Guised as diplomacy; Iran has been buying time for decades...
How many more decades do you think we should diplomatize?

I was not aware the global arms race was ever subdued, please enlighten me as to which countries (willingly) reduced their military purchases.

Already did mine. Everyone should.

(e) Regretting that despite the above resolutions by the Board and numerous opportunities
provided by the Director General since 2019, Iran has failed to provide the co-operation required
under its Safeguards Agreement, impeding Agency verification activities, sanitizing locations,
and repeatedly failing to provide the Agency with technically credible explanations for the
presence of uranium particles of anthropogenic origin at several undeclared locations in Iran or
information on the current location(s) of nuclear material and/or of contaminated equipment, instead stating, inconsistent with the Agency’s findings, that it has declared all nuclear material
and activities required under its Safeguards Agreement,
(o) Reiterating its concern that Iran has still not provided necessary, full and unambiguous
cooperation with the Agency and has not taken the essential and urgent actions as decided by the
Board in its June and November 2024 resolutions, with the consequence that Safeguards issues
remain outstanding despite numerous interactions with the Agency since 2019, with serious
implications for the Agency’s ability to ensure verification of the non-diversion of nuclear
material required to be safeguarded under Iran’s NPT Safeguards Agreement to nuclear weapons
or other nuclear explosive devices, and
(p) Concerned that the Agency is at an impasse with regards to resolving these issues,
Why enrichment to 60 percent? Why build inside a mountain?
After Saturday I can explain the "build inside a mountain" part.
Amen
They , that is these sleeper cells are in countries all over the world. Our governments would not want us to know . Diplomacy Ya know!.
Thank you Brien. It’s just willful ignorance and stupidity to not acknowledge the facts that you’ve put forward!
Hi Bill, "But Iran had already agreed not to make a nuke. And it had gone along with diplomatic negotiations…rules…inspections…non-proliferation treaties — all intended to keep it from doing so." Where did you find this information? I'd like to read.
Thanks, Brian
He most likely just made it up.
Hi Ed, sounds like a reasonable start. I'll admit my understanding of ME history is lacking. Can you recommend a book?
So, Bill, what do you make of the latest IAEA report? The report says the Mullahs violated the agreement by enriching uranium from the agreed-upon 3.6 percent to 60 percent, close to bomb territory.
The USA just did the world a favor…..a “yuge” favor…..
Bill Bonner has lost his mind. I think he should to move to Iran since he thinks they have been good stewards of international nuclear norms.
Almost can't stand to read his thoughts anymore.
BB Cry me a river...blah blah blah. Same slams, new day...
Dan love the piece on Silver!
Just coincidence, right :-) Once again for those who are ideologically compromised; the single biggest threat to your life, liberty, and property is the U.S. government.
Bonner is a moron. The IAEA that he cites actually stated that the Iranians were accumulating enough enriched uranium to build bombs.
Trump has an enormous ego, but so do they.
You are being too kind to Bill.
