Maybe it’s just me…. But when I began reading Bill’s note about the Big Man, I thought he was discussing Franklin Roosevelt in 1933 & after. Closed the banks and only allowed his buddies to reopen. Grabbed the nation’s gold. Prosecuted former cabinet officers like Treasury’s Andrew Mellon. Economic ignoramus, but…. Micromanaged the economy to benefit political pals. Heck…. Case of Wickard vs Filburn made it illegal for farmers to grow their own crops.

But then it struck me…. Oh yeah…. Trump.

Choices determine outcomes. Values determine choices. Therefore, outcomes are values-based. In my lifetime (I was born in 1952), we have gone from praising and cherishing individual rights to the verge of collectivist statism. Bill seems to believe Mr. Trump is the problem. Others believe Mr. Trump, much like Mr. Lincoln, a former "Big Man", is bending, breaking, ignoring the rules in order to overcome tremendous and horrendous challenges. We're here, because this is what we chose. We chose to be here because of changing values. Return to the top and repeat. Best always. PM

We keep reading and especially commenting because people of good conscience PUSH BACK against outright lies, half-truths and gaslighting where and when we can. We do it out of Compassion for our fellow man - we don't want to see others misled when we know the Truth about certain things.

Pretty safe to say that none of us owns a TV or Radio station (?), so we come here to do our small part in trying to keep the record straight. It really is that simple...

I've got many concerns about the President I voted for twice, but not as many as the anti freedom lunatics before him. As for war, they aren't his wars, but he has to deal with them. Can any clear thinking person believe America would not respond to Hamas in a similar way. How does the world take their side over and over when they have always been the aggressor? And if tariffs are so bad for our country why are they good for the others ?

Mark Smith's avatar

Pretty much everyone I know who had considered thoughts on the Israeli response to invade Gaza thought it would kill a lot of civilians and not destroy Hamas: it is an idea nurtured by the Israeli actions over many years, the moderate Palestinian response has been ineffectual. Every woman and child killed by the Israelis has a son that will support Hamas or something similar. Israeli settlers continue to harass and murder Palestinians in the West Bank to steal their land.

Tariffs are generally very low across the world, the Orange King is a bit of an exception.

Bill, I am so done with your missives. I have been an interested reader, no an eager reader for many years. Now I am appalled with your position on the " big man". You impley he is governing outside of the constitution, really? There are many of us, maybe even the majority of your readers, who support his governance. We do not perceive him to be outside of the law. Rather we see him as implementing the law. Where the ideological democrats would not close the boarder stating congress needed to enact new laws. In comes the "big man" using the current laws and closes the boarder overnight. Now, we have the DC killing pit. Trump, using existing laws, has moved expeditiously on multiple fronts to end the carnage and you call him the "big man" who circumvents the constitution to eliminate crime. No, he is well with the purview of the constitution. So, Bill your are going have replace my readership as I am done with mainstream media ideology.

Sick of the anti-Trump rhetoric and lies that he violates the Constitution, since every single thing he does is examined by bogus District Courts operating as if they have veto power over the chief executive, which Constitutionally they do not, plus further scrutiny by the Supreme Court. The President has the obligation to take over DC in the absence of the rule or law or safety for the citizens and Federal government officials and staff.

.

Where was your Constitutional concern over the bogus ‘election’ of the brain dead puppet, Joe Biden and previous attempts by Obama along with his puppet, to destroy the Constitutional Republic, import 30 million illegal aliens, destroy the fiscal soundness of the USA, and foment race and class hate to take down the USA by internal strife or even civil war. Obama’s pro-tranny anti-family stance, his DEI BS, and destruction of foundational subject teaching in favor of far left social values was an effort to end the competition of a true meritocracy, his and the democrats NGO money laundering scam bled the US Treasury for years, with no audits or verification of a benefit to the nation,

We now know that Hillary and Obama and many others in the leftist Deep State colluded to take down a sitting President from 2016 through 2020, followed by bogus prosecutions for four years and culminating in 2 Assassination attempts before the 2024 election. The facts are coming out about all of this and we can hope these CRIMINALS face a just sentence for TREASON.

What has Trump done since January 21, 2025:

- 7 peace treaties to date(August 13, 2024)

-DOGE audits of government fraud, waste, abuse, with new monitoring systems in place.

-ended the money laundering under USAID and other NGO linked scams

-ended DEI /CRT bias and race based policies in school, government and institutions.

- ended Trans gender males in female sports and private spaces

-ended gender based mutilation of children under age 18

-removed over 100,000 illegals and established a self deportation system,

-reinforced law enforcement across America

- closed the Southern border to criminals, illegals, and cartels

-bolstered the enlistment and re-enlistment of US Military with several programs.

- closed the payments of our tax dollars Medicaid, Snap, etc, to non US citizens

- closed the department of education (really indoctrination)

-gives God Credit for our many blessings

-picked the best cabinet we have ever had

-got Congress to pass the big beautiful bill

- returned Christmas and Easter to the White House

- requires accountability in government agency budgets and contracts: verification of benefit to taxpayers and work completed.

-Federal funds for areas neglected particularly farms and law enforcement

-new programs to support our veterans.

-4th of July celebration in our Capitol.

-ongoing efforts to end the Ukraine/Russia War.

-ongoing efforts to end the Middle East crises and bring relief to Gaza.

-requires Universities to protect all students of any race or religion and condemns mistreatment of Jewish students.

-negotiated dozens of tariff programs to provide some parity with tariffs USA pays out.

- reversed the Panama Canal giveaway by Carter, to return control to USA

-brought fun into the Republican Party via MAGA

-required NATO countries to pay more of their share.

-took us out of the corrupt WHO

- Melania!

- all the other Trumps.

Anyone who gets their political news from the WSJ OR WaPo must know is is a biased leftist source of opinion, not fact.

Trump is not perfect but he is way better than any President of my lifetime. He, unlike the lying left, is doing what he promised the electorate.

I was a democrat for over 50 years and came to my senses during Trump’s first term. In 2025 he was ready, he is strong, he will not be deterred by the lies of MSM.

This is probably the most hateful Trump diatribe I have ever read. The wars are not Trump's wars. He is trying to end them and the wars were created by the limp-wristed Biden Administration. You make no mention of the other nations of the world putting tariffs on us? Nor the millions of factory jobs which have left the USA over the past 50 years due to our very own policies. Nor the liberal law enforcement policies of the left driving up crime in the USA. Nor the inflation and the lawfare of the previous administration.

It is fine to attack the Big Man, but at least provide some context to what he is up against. He is trying to do something about it, unlike his recent predecessors. He was under attack the whole of his first administration and is only now free to make changes. Do I like everything he is doing? No! But please be fair, lest you end up like the rest of the fake-news propagandists.

Some people have the gift of words, some don't. Being articulate gives the plausibility of intelligence, but it is not always the case as I have witnessed over and over. I will admit that there are many who are articulate and who are actually intelligent but who have accepted ideas and a political philosophy that is in complete contradiction to the fundamental facts of reality.

Trump is not articulate, but in his own way, he is wise. He understands fundamental facts like: it takes productive effort for human beings to survive and flourish; it takes reliable energy to fuel productive effort; it takes taking down roadblocks (regulations) to unleash productive effort; our country will not survive in a dangerous world as a service economy - we must produce the critical items we need to survive as a nation; it takes law enforcement to curb crime.... etc. He may talk like a blue collar worker, like a "truck driver", but he's driving the truck in the right direction. As opposed to the effete socialist pigs - or as I call them, the Progressive Fascist Nihilist Enviro-Nazi Horde - who have no idea how reality works but can articulate their idiotic ideas in the most articulate way. This is why most of what we call philosophy is nothing but intellectual gibberish.

Understanding fundamentals society needs does not require a diploma.

Trump does not hide the fact he is likely the most conceited man in the world.

The circus never leaves town, it just gets a bigger tent. President Trump, WE’RE GONNA DO IT ALL AGAIN! Deport the poor! Tax their ashes! Make America White Again, like a big ol’ load of political laundry bleached to death in the sun! Hell Yes! 😂

It’s funny, you know… funny in the way terminal illness is funny, because you’re already screwed, but you get to watch it happen in slow motion. The founders wanted a government that couldn’t do this… but here we are, with a guy who treats the Constitution like a hotel Bible, keeps it in the drawer until he needs to bludgeon someone with it.

Hell yeah, the Big Man’s just reloading the same policy shotgun he emptied last time. Border crackdowns, Medicare gutting, social security trims, call it what it is, cutting the safety net so tight it turns into a noose. Bombs for breakfast, tariffs for lunch, and another pandemic for dessert, served with a side of martial law because “practice makes perfect,” right? The DC police takeover? That’s just the dress rehearsal for Act Two of the Apocalypse: The Lockdown Boogaloo.

By the time the curtain rises on 2026, the Big Man will slip his collar completely, running the show like a game of “Simon Says” where Simon has nukes, a Truth Social account, and an allergy to reading. Tariffs? Sure, but let’s call them what they are, massive taxes on Americans, with the bonus feature of pushing allies straight into China’s waiting arms. Constitution? More like a speed bump on the road to “Because I Said So-ville.” And the kicker, he’s doing it all while telling us it’s for our own good, the same way a pickpocket tells you he’s just “adjusting your wallet for comfort.”

So yeah, this ain’t new. This is the sequel nobody asked for but everybody’s getting, and the joke, just like the empire, is on us.

Instead, what we’ve got is an Administration confusing GDP growth with actual prosperity, patting themselves on the back while wages crawl and debt skyrockets. Instead of protecting democratic norms, they’re cherry-picking when to respect the rules, kinda like a referee who bets on the game. Foreign policy? Ok Fine, hire Jesse Ventura, because if we’re gonna have a circus, we might as well hire a guy who already knows how to wrestle clowns and body slam corruption. A governor who’d walk into congress wearing camo and demand to see the receipts! The guy’s half conspiracy nut, half pro-wrestler… so basically, the perfect resume for modern politics. Hell, at least he’d scare the lobbyists into wetting their loafers, which is more than I can say for your average party-line meat puppet.

I feel like I'm on crazy pills reading your latest newsletter. The President has the authority to use the DC police for emergencies. It may be unprecedented, but not illegal. It is a bold move by a leader who wants to improve the nation's capital city while working within the framework of the law. It is obvious to anyone with a pulse that DC is a filthy crime ridden mess. Day or night, you are wise to look over your shoulder to make sure you are not being targeted. The city is being managed by woefully incompetent leaders, and it is time to show some pride and take it back.

Whenever the President of the United States determines that special conditions of an emergency nature exist which require the use of the Metropolitan Police force for federal purposes,” the law provides, the president may require the city’s mayor to provide him “such services of the Metropolitan Police force as the President may deem necessary and appropriate.”

Where is the proof that an emergency exists besides the questionable word of the potus.

You are truly a moron, Patrick. Just because you ignore reality doesn't mean it isn't there....

Is it possible to get a transparent accounting of how the BPR portfolio has performed since the “Trade of the Decade” on 1/27/21 (when XOP was first added), including dividends and all closed positions reinvested on a prorated basis into the remaining open positions or new recommendations (ie, real-life decisions)? It would be nice to compare to other benchmarks to see if it is worth wading thru all the Bonner opinions.

The Constitution officially jumped the shark in 1861.

And to this day honest (LOL) Abe is still lionized as a super hero president.

Francis P. Sempa wrote in "The Diplomat" of January 26, 2019: "In his 1904 paper “The Geographical Pivot of History,” Halford Mackinder warned that China could one day threaten to upset the global balance of power by organizing the resources of Eurasia and building an invincible sea power. Today, China’s cooperation with Russia, its Belt and Road Initiative, its growing presence in the Indian Ocean and Africa, and its burgeoning sea power are evidence of Mackinder’s prophetic powers."

So the policy which the State Department has followed since the fall of Communism, of pushing at Russia, seems to be helping all this to come true.

Mackinder went on to write: “What if … the whole World-Island or a large part of it, were at some future time to become a single and united base of sea-power? Would not the other insular bases be outbuilt as regards ships and outmanned as regards seamen? Their fleets would no doubt fight with all the heroism begotten of their histories, but the end would be fated.”

Now they`re pushing at India too. If you make enough enemies, you`re finished.

Excellent points, I guess. A few post-1904 things come to mind, among them: Airplanes, Missiles and Atomic Bombs....
