Few public policies are ever purely matters of technique. There is also ideology, theory, economics, politics — and a whole gamut of crackpot ideas and prejudices.
State schools are neo-Bolshevik indoctrination centers that train each generation to be compliant citizens of the MATRIX. The ultimate insult to the state is to homeschool your kids. Do it while you still can.
Very true!!!! My daughter home schooled four girls, all in their 20's now, and smart as a whip. Good free thinkers and NOT living in the social media world.
There's this --> "This is merely an illustration of what Peter Turchin describes as ‘elite overproduction’ — more lawyers, more administrators, more experts, more specialists, more consultants — all of them hoping to share in the wealth, power and status to which they think their education entitles them."
And now, along comes AI to make redundant or obsolete many of those jobs in law, admin, specialties, consulting.
Elite Overproduction is swamped by endlessly reproducible software. People have been "educated" onto pathways with limited futures anymore.
In the financial world there is much written about "following the trend". We are heading down the same path as Europe at a breakneck speed. Most of the BPR readers won't be around to see the total train wreck. It's going to be sad and ugly!
It seems to me neither our elected officials nor the public are qualified to come up with public policies. They don’t seem to have my best interests at heart. Perhaps the best public policy is to not have one.
Well they are not there to make good public policy, rather they are there to make copious amounts of money and serve their overlords in industry, technology and geopolitians who will spend multiple millions, and in today's politics, billions to get their sycophant into office.
Plato, who inhabited one of the dysfunctional Hellenic city-states that Aristotle's student Alexander of Macedon rolled up into a short-lived empire a few years later, offers a similar analysis of how a "feverish" state unravels in his Republic dialogue. The parallels are striking as the managers of OPM run out of it and their deceived followers arrive with torches and pitchforks and noises.
Yep, if you have an idea for a website ai basically replaces developers, content writers, project managers, lawyers, marketers, business managers... But it has no quality control or vision and runs through templates. Interesting times.

Agreed.
