Sounds a lot like the 80s to me: pundits galore making lots of money selling the impossibility of the "paper" system. I bought it then, and I bought the rerun (BPR and other enterprises/collaborations). I got out of "investing" back in the run-up to the DotCom "bust". I got out not because I feared loss, but because I figured out it was all a rigged game. What the market (insiders) didn't take, the government did (taxes). When you promote/sell "Avoid the Big Loss" as the pretext for taking subscription money, you have to cheerlead for your premise. We are living Beckett's "Waiting for Godot". Cue up Hank Williams with "You Win Again." Best always. PM

P.S. I'm not jilted, angry, or "ripped off"; I like Bill Bonner, regardless of outcome. I'm just realistic about it; that's all.

At the center of it all sits President Trump, a leader with the fiscal awareness of a raccoon guarding a buffet.

The Feds think the deficit is shrinking. That’s adorable. President Trump walks out waving charts like Moses with stone tablets, except the commandments are “Thou shalt borrow” and “Thou shalt blame foreigners.”

His media cronies cheer because numbers went up somewhere. They don’t care where. Could be jobs, could be cholesterol, could be the national debt doing CrossFit. Doesn’t matter, numbers went up, victory parade. Confetti made of shredded retirement plans.

Now Trump weaponizes currency. Money used to be trust. Now it’s a boomerang with a knife taped to it. You sling it at your enemies, and it circles back carving your own couch to ribbons while you’re still sitting on it, wondering why the room suddenly smells like financial smoke.

President Trump bragging about tariffs funding the US is like a bartender congratulating himself because customers keep punching themselves in the face and paying cover charges. We are the ones paying, you loud walnut! You taxed your own people and called it foreign tribute. That’s not strategy. That’s mugging your reflection.

And the jobs numbers? He added crumbs to a bakery and declared famine solved. Real wages flat for years, manufacturing flatter than a conspiracy theorist’s globe, but President Trump stands there yelling “BOOMING!” like a guy whose house just burned down screaming “OPEN FLOOR PLAN!”

Debt projections into the future look like a horror movie franchise. Debt 2. Debt 3. Debt vs Predator. By 2035 every US family owes ten thousand dollars a year just to service interest. Interest! Not roads, not schools, just the privilege of breathing near the treasury. If stupidity generated electricity, Trump could power three galaxies. Branding is the only thing working.

I watched a 1984 Bio on President Trump. Seems like a nice fella. Reminds me of a guy I knew who financed a sandwich with seventeen credit cards. Kept telling everyone he was winning lunch.

The Feds say foreigners have no choice but to use US money. That’s confidence right there. My uncle said the same thing about his meatloaf. We had other choices. We just preferred survival.

They keep talking about the Golden Age. I looked around. Infrastructure looks tired, wages look tired, people look tired. Only thing not tired is the debt. Debt’s doing one-arm pushups. Debt’s in phenomenal shape. If debt were an athlete it’d be sponsored by Nike.

President Trump says everything is fine. And I believe him, because when things are fine, leaders always yell that repeatedly. Very reassuring, like a pilot screaming “THIS IS NORMAL” while the plane is upside down.

"a raccoon guarding a buffett"...hilarious and apt analogy. Nicely done!

Agent22 - I love it too - "a raccoon guarding the buffett" - that is so spot=on. Unfortunately, us peons only have two (2) choices - "Cry" which isn't a choice because it solves nothing - or secondly - "Prepare for the comign chaos ahead". America has averted the chaos for decades as the world suffered. It is now coming to America. Ugh!

Suffering is at the bottom of my bucket list….

An Ol' LSO's avatar

Fully agree. It is not even on my Bucket List. Prepare I am trying and hopefully it somewhat works. Little is better than none!

I’m hungry after reading that, maybe a meatloaf sandwich with some Heinz catchup please. Very clever, funny and informative, thank you.

"How in the world is it a good thing to take money from the voters and transfer it to the chosen few of the governing class?", really says it all. However, their beloved, obtuse, bloated "Leader" rattles on with his lies, still convincing his dwindling mob of 'True Believers'. The landing will be rough and hurt us all, but the world will somehow move on (up actually) as its living observation that peace, cooperation, conversation, compromise. freedom is far preferable to Trumpanyahu's ancient/selfish need to attack, bomb, destroy, dominate, force, steal, starve, annihilate the enemies they create and see everywhere, including all of us non-believers.

Bill, you provide some high level solutions yesterday, bravo. Where are your solutions for the dire straights you paint in this article. That would be amazing, to hear you point out the pain (Something you are exquisite at) then, more importantly provide the aspirin; or at least your version of it.

It is easy to sit back and arm chair quarterback, almost anyone can do it.

Where's the beef?

Ed Uehling's avatar

For starters just stop the egocentric arrogance, hatred and attacks. and treat others as equals.

Ralph Meyen's avatar

read the previous day's letter to "Dear Mr President" and you'll have your aspirin ..

IF you read my post it referenced "Dear Mr President"

C & C is a great antidote to the steady Bonner negativity drumbeat. Those Type-1 TDSer’s here - you know who you are - if they have the guts to, should give it a read.

But they won’t. Their minds are closed tight; it’s the ol’, “Don’t confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up.”

Sad but true brother! I don’t even waste my time reading “Bill”, just wait for Tom and Dan. It’s amazing how many good people have left here, and been replaced by the same zombies that would vote in a communist, leftist loon over an American. But I get it, “Bill” speaking from foreign lands, to his new deranged constituents, who are mostly foreign, actually or mentally. We live in a time when intelligent people are being silenced so ignorant people won’t be offended, I prefer my time with the intelligent 😊

Please note that this tiny job growth is significantly affected by the reduction in government employees, so that is a good thing. Please use job growth in the real economy and not net including govt. Also the use of GDP and any govt numbers is VERY suspect, so real firm conclusions from such squishy numbers is only useful for filling opinion pieces.

Trump VOTERS are all around, that does not make us Trump fans! He is a politician and I will judge him on that! The money system is broken, if you can grift millions/billions you can still be a winner. However us simpletons are hoping for better guidance on what I THINK is some sort of reset, maybe backed by Crypto. Something new or different may be hard to imagine but that debt is NOT GETTING PAID! So that's all I got for now.....

Our other choice will be the Democrats under crooked Newsome or idiot Harris. No matter what we are screwed. Diversify diversify diversify. Maybe you will get through this unscathed.

Don, it so human nature. People continue to drink the kool-aid and see those that don't has absolute idiots. The America Empire is no more. The World through various strong countries are showing the way forward and without America. Sad but just how empires destroy themselves. Trump doesn't have a clue - it is all about his ego!

Regardless, the American empire was dissolving into the dustbin of history - one way or the other. This is just the quickest route! Two horrific occurrences at the same time - 1.) Canada is destroying Trump's playbook - especially about the Gordon Howe Bridge, and 2.) if/when the U.S. for the Zionist attack Iran - the U.S. military will be no more and, unfortunately, 1000s of U.S. service people will go die as a result. Much much worse than Vietnam or the Gulf Wars.

The elits can't stand it - "what do you mean we aren't the biggest and the baddest any more - that can't be true". But, it is and if Trump is dumb enough (and he is) to attack Iran Trump and the U.S. along with the World will find out. Truly ugly but necessary.......but us peons will be the ones that suffer.

you really need to move to cuba.....you will experience exactly what it is you wish upon the USA. - what a crumb, you sir are in need of a good old fashion blanket party.

Don Hrehirchek's avatar

Yes history will win out and many who do not see , or want to see will be swept into the dust bin of history. But as You say , it is You and I the peons that take the brunt of ones actions. that be mostly those in power ,or so they think they are in power.

the "Golden AGE" and trumpistas should all be happy if they are gold/silver hoarders .. but even that will become useless in their world when guns will again be turned into plow shares ..

The problem they all provide half truths. It is very difficult to make any decisions when you don’t have all the ‘facts’
