The question of country size on the globe is simple to solve, we have satellite mapping from space to settle the matter, no debates! The question of global military bases is a matter of people in power, BOTH SIDES, over thinking their place in the global arena. We all know the matter of DEBT is the crazy people in Washington, BOTH SIDES, trying to keep their power by buying votes as they destroy our currency. We all know this train wreck is going to come to an ugly end.
"And no other country ever exported so much of its own dream — movies, books, ideas, language, fashion...you name it." And industry, and technology, and engineering know how, etc.
Prosperity caused too many Americans to become swaggerers, braggarts, flag waving intervenors of other countries. Their numbers swelled during the era of official counterfeiting.
Reasonable good post today, things we should be thinking about. Not much we can do about it, but both parties are responsible. We do need to change our ways for sure. All we can do is prepare as best we can for the situations to come. There are some really ignorant people in this country, they have no idea what’s going on,

Why are we sustaining at enormous expense our post WW II role of restoring order which, at some point, mutated into making the world safe for Democracy?
Helping allies defend themselves against aggression, I understand.
But that mission ended in 1991 when the USSR collapsed.
Since then, our flag should be following trade.
If ever a conflict was deemed necessary, then it should only be assisting indigenous people replace cruel, oppressive dictators or assist them confront land thefts by them.

The UN is always acting like a naive adolescent. Now they are looking at each other and comparing size?
