The Trump Team will stick with the Primary Political Trend, which is toward more spending, bigger deficits and more debt. Investment markets know what time it is.
One thing that I believe will change under a Trump Administration and especially if it comes with a Republican Congress is how the money is spent. Yes the total spending and deficit picture will likely not change, but think for a moment about how federal money has been spent for decades, including in the first Trump administration. In short, the federal budget has become totally corrupted. It has always been corrupt to a certain degree, but it has been 100% corrupt for at least 20 years, up from 80-90% corrupt in the last century. What does that mean? It means every single budget line item(tens of thousands of them) is completely fraudulent. Biden let the cat out of the bag when he said the Inflation Reduction Act should have been named the Climate Change Reduction Act. He said just last month “we should have called it what it was”. So the corruption starts at the 30,000 foot level by naming everything something that it isn’t, and continues on down to the budget line item where the money is spent in ways universally not in the interest of the American people or the welfare of the nation.
So end the war in Ukraine, stop the flood of subsidies and money laundering to fight Climate Change. Stop paying billions of dollars to support illegal immigrants by giving them, upon arrival, free health insurance, free cash or debit cards, free airline and bus tickets all over the country, free cell phones….. Stop out of control payroll growth of federal agencies for unaccountable initiatives that harm US citizens. And on and on and on.
Yes we may implode because of the sheer size of the financial albatross, but start addressing how the money is spent. It’s a start.
Brilliant, Absolutely Brilliant! Is the debt so absolutely impossible to solve? NO. Just look at this and the truth of the matter is that the corruption and collusion is incredibly deep and costly, but eliminate it and you have a balanced budget because you can only eliminate it by reducing government and there lies the problem. There is a simple solution: Look at MSMedia and what they are pushing and their narrative and do the exact opposite. End all wars and close all bases. One other important move is to attack anyone and any idea that violates and doesn't support the US Constitution. It worked for 100 years and it can still work today and it is exactly why the Left is trying to destroy it, i.e. because they want to destroy the US.
Let's not forget that the right is also bent on destruction of the Constitution, perhaps moreso. Bush v. Gore was an important nail in the coffin and was a direct violation of constitutional powers. McConnell thumbed his nose at the Constitution when he blocked Obama from exercising his presidential right to fill a vacant Supreme Court seat. He also blocked the appointment of judges by Democratic presidents. Then the Supremes nailed the coffin shut with Trump v. US. The Founders' number one objective, above all others, was to prevent the president from becoming a king. Now the Court has paved the path for a Caesar to usurp the power of the republic. We don't know the who or the when, but it'll happen....
Agreed. One thing to add. The liquid gold under our country. This can be sold to the world and the deficit can be reduced. Because of the oil produced in saudi Arabia it has a large average income in the country.
AP: Or…all the trillionaires could donate a few millions each; that should help our budget. Since Elon is giving a few millions away, why not also donate to our budget? I know! Dream on.
Would you give your millions away so the government can spend it on illegals? or climate change that hasn't been proven? Not me and their millions is a drop in the bucket. Stop wasteful spending.
Perhaps, rather than exporting all our cheap energy to the rest of the world, we should consider the advantage it would give to rekindling domestic industry. You know, jobs? From past experience, we know the bonanza doesn’t last forever and I’d like to see it used at home to help Make America Great Again.

You don't add that the last year plus of Trumps term was the pandemic. Mistakes were made, and Fauci was right in the middle of it. Trumps was in a catch 22. If he didn't listen to the so-called experts, he was demonized, and when he did, he became responsible. The gamble did not pay off, and with the help of the media and the Deep State, he lost the 2020 election to a senile guy hanging out in his basement. He has had four years to think about this, along with everything else they through or shot at him. Either you don't know, or don't really want to say, why they don't want him in office so bad. Look around, and you will see that this landslide was the referendum on the last four years of moral degradation that the Deep State tried to force feed us. Like they say, if your not part of the solution, your part of the problem.
You are on to something…..What Bonner wants to ignore, is that Covid came along and the liberal progressives were already throwing everything at Trump, impeachment, defund the police, etc., everything but the kitchen sink. When Covid hit, Trump was hit with the China Virus Kiss of Death and the Fauci cover-up of the lab in China. Trump was doomed to be a one term president and the liberals in congress, the government bureaucrats, NIH, and all the liberal states immediately demanded nationwide shutdowns, cementing any chance for Trump to keep this nation and economy afloat without giveaways….it was the liberals pressing all the Covid fear buttons beyond reason, closing down America, protecting China, WHO, and Fauci from blame, and using the powers of State governments, and their Washington connections to kill any chance for Trump to survive politically another term…these closures and spending fall squarely on liberal political tactics.…he almost did get re-elected…the vaccines pushed without adequate controlled testing… but yes he spent trillions to keep us somewhat afloat…with again, government uncontrollable spending that was poorly managed by our entrenched liberal bureaucracy.
My conclusion….the economy determines a president’s tenure and Trump knows it…has now been re-elected because of it…..and Bonner’s liberalism won’t allow him to see my point. And Trump is no Knucklehead.
At least I voted for Trump, with a prayer and hope that he can do the impossible (as described by Bill) and "right this ship", especially for you youngsters. However, according to Bill, he doesn't have a chance. Yet, he seems to think that the newly elected president of Argentina is doing that very thing in Argentina. This is one time that we all had better hope that Bill, Porter Stansberry and Jim Richards are all wrong and hell is not about to arrive.
I hope so too. But I do personally believe that we shall see slowing first before improvement. I don't see slowing as bad. It is essential if we really want to change our economy and get the debt down. But if we make the smart changes, less government, less regulation, more freedom, solid constitution and good justice system then I don't think the downturn need last more than a few years.
For you youngster's sake, I hope you are right, Mackinac. The key to watch is does the Trump team carry thru in eliminating some useless Federal Agencies, firing all political appointed personnel (appointing people with common sense), making the NATO members pay their true percentage, having balanced budgets for the next four years and unlimited oil and gas production, I know, that's not all but at least a minimum. You youngsters are and will think of a lot more things to do but if they can't reduce expenditures and balance future budgets, having 10 Elon Musks won't save this nation.
The election isn’t completely over yet. Trump has not taken the presidential office yet and here you are criticizing him about what he will be doing. Stop your bullshit, give the man a chance. In one year, if you are correct on your prediction, I will send you a big apology letter. I predict that once we start producing large supplies of oil and sell it to the world our deficit will start going down. Our taxes will be increased because of new businesses and people making more money. The next four years will not be like the trump years of past and will be much better than the Biden years. Again, give the man a chance. AP
I voted Trump not because i like his arrogantness, or his bullying or name calling which by the way is a 3rd grade mentality. I voted Trump because I did not want to vote for Harris who was unable to put two clear sentences together. I think she would have been chewed up and spit out by other world leaders to say the least. Lastly, I voted for the possibility of an Elon Musk to make a difference in the Trump cabinet and to slash government spending and cut government back to a reasonable size. If Trump and his cabinet aren't able to start that hacksaw process and get us back to a smaller federal government then I think we are destined to total failure. Off to Costa Rica I go.
MS: You don’t do yourself justice when you demean Harris. Did you bother to listen to her speeches. Much better than Trump’s. She gave excellent speeches. Too bad you didn’t listen. Please don’t put too much hope in Musk taking a serious place in Trump’s cabinet. He’s already stretched way too thin. Musk could make a big dent if he and a lot of the Billionaires donated to reducing our deficit. I know..dream on.
So she can read a teleprompter great...Do you honestly think that she wrote those words?? You obviously don't understand economics. Billionaires pay more than their fair share. It's called payroll taxes, creating jobs which means more small mom and pop shops in the area which means more jobs. Take away from Billionaires and middle class people get fired... Or they take their billions elsewhere.. Duh... Keep dreaming about your socialist/communist utopia...
GMM: It’s obviously you don’t know her history or Trump’s. I do understand economic, but doubt you do. You keep dreaming that Trump will be a good President and solve all our problems with his total understanding of economics. Well, he is good at cheating on his taxes and his wives, But economics..not so much!. By the way, it seems that some of you resort to calling anyone who doesn’t agree with you a Communist/Socialist. Look in the mirror and you’ll find one.
You don't need to be eloquent to be effective. He has been in the business world and knows the art of negotiation. Just in the 3 days since he has been elected the world in bending over backwards to get back to normal. From Putin to Europe wanting to buy our LNG, to Hamas wanting peace to the Houthis (sp?) saying they will stop attacking. They are all respecting real strong leadership which we haven't had for the past 4 years.
I am a subscriber and very much appreciate your analysis and find it to be thorough. I spent eleven years on Wall Street as an investment banker, and then founded and ran a successful corporate advisory firm in Houston for over 25 years. I followed the work of the Federal Reserve and the implications of its actions on markets for my corporate finance clients. In preparation for my career in finance, I practiced as a Professional Engineer in the exploration and production sector of the energy industry.
To satisfy my curiosity, I looked up the St. Louis Fed numbers and found the monthly series of federal outlays from 1980 through August 2024. After reading your analysis of the term of President Trump and his profligate spending, I must admit that I was shocked by your conclusion. It should not be surprising that under his administration, in the calendar year of 2020, his outlays increased just under fifty percent, or 6.8T for that year compared to the prior three years. More precisely, 2.2T of outlays were put on the books that year compared to those of the preceding year. His outlays grew by about seventeen percent in his first three years, totaling about 12.7T. During President Obama’s eight-year term, his outlays rose by about twenty percent, totaling about 28.6T for his two terms. I do not know your source, but I would be pleased to send you my spreadsheet derived from FRED’s data.
This brings us to the Biden administration, which shows up as the King of Spending and, as you described, is the source of the highest inflation endured by the people of the U.S. since 1982. The data only goes through August, or about two-thirds of 2024, which I have annualized, and it indicates an estimated total outlay for 2024 of about 7T. His total spending for the first three years of his administration has totaled about 19.5T, or about what President Trump spent in four years. The Biden administration is on track to spend in four years what President Obama spent in eight years. I wonder why the inflation numbers weren’t higher than what was reported. But that is a story for another day involving the BLS munchkins.
You know, Mr. Bonner, since you seem to think your crystal ball is so much clearer than anyone else's and you know exactly what the second Trump administration is going to do, perhaps my contribution to YOUR wealth is no longer necessary. I signed on for financial advice, not to read an almost daily one sided diatribe about the only viable alternative in this election. Your pompous butt has no idea what Trump is going to do and your TDS blinds you to everything. I'm outta here.
AND like Lee Iococca said when rescuing Chrysler. "Either get on board or get out of the way"
I do appreciate your insights but it seems your frustration with government, which we are almost all on board with, seems to distract from any solution and might even cloud finding the best financial path forward. Personally I want to hope for and work toward a solution. I have grand kids.
Maximum Safety Mode isn't especially complicated or sophisticated. Once you understand it, you pretty much have all you need. Bill is needlessly alienating and pissing off the majority of the people that pay to be here. If his personal hatred and envy was backed up by actual facts, events and evidence, that might excuse his attitude. But he is WAY off base AGAIN today.
If he continues in this vein, he will lose most of us. Also, what will he do when Trump & Company DO start to turn things around? Can any of you imagine that he will give credit where it is due?
Just as with MSM, the permanently pissed off / binary thinkers are the noisy ones. I'm sure BB has many subscribers who value his insight, in this case, that a man should be judged by his actions rather than his words, and understand that just because the other candidate was worse, doesn't mean that this one is good.
I think Bill said it well when he caricatured it as "“Easy!” declare those with all the right opinions (and the biggest guns). “This side good. That side bad. Sanctions go here. Bombs go there. Unintended consequences be damned!”
The "kids", Dan, Tom, et al, who are the inheritors of this project called BPR, and have likely paid substantially for the privilege, have to be getting a little uneasy at this alienation of a significant portion of the subscriber base. Or not. Best always. PM
I think you know you are putting out a half truth or total lie when you do not qualify Trump's spending with there was COVID. Why do you do that when must of know you are full of it?
I agree with all your comments on politicians and politics BUT this election wasn't about the leader who was going to reduce the budget. I only recall a couple comments about reducing the budget from Trump and that's it. Hence there was no discussion. The contest was about the lies of the left and their narrative ( essentially a 100 % false narrative conjured up to let them control the world and of course go to war constantly). So Americans given no choice of balancing a budget and getting out of debt chose to vote for some truth and get rid of the infringement of their rights and let debt be addressed later. American voters have been foolish in the past essentially and seriously since the Vietnam war but the elite completely controlled the narrative back then until recently. So Americans didn't know much of what was going on AND they certainly didn't understand debt's significance and the significance of war and debt.
Now with the internet and bankruptcy of MSMedia a more complete story of what is going on and the associated debt situation if far more clear to those watching and reading. Team Trump WILL stick with the Primary Political Trend but I think there is hope they will clean up some of the Deep State. I think this is possible although unlikely because Milei is trying. If not then C'est La Vie. But as Warren Buffett would say "Don't bet against America." I think Trump's agenda is about as good as it gets with our current situation.
Today’s rant from Bill Bonner just confirms the rightness of my decision to let my subscription to BPR expire next month and not renew. My respect for BB has totally evaporated over the past year. Since Hamas attacked innocent Israeli citizens last October, Bill Bonner’s true colors have been exposed. He has lost touch with reality and could not care less about his readers. There is zero evidence he ever reads the comments to his rubbish. He still has a few diehard followers who think he is omniscient, but they cannot sustain him. Bill Bonner is toast and BPR is finished.
That was a complete waste of my time. Please cry in private in the future. We all get it. We've gotten it for 9 years now. You hate Trump. We get it. Please move on and stop the tantrum before it actually kills you, Bill. Your social unawareness is stunning. Believe it or not, I'm confident that the vast majority of your paying subscribers are not interested in paying to read another, "I hate Trump" essay. Rub some dirt on it, Tiger, and wipe away the alligator tears before your readers give you a legitimate reason to whine. Jeez!
ML: Bill tells it like it is. He has been honest in his evaluations of both parties…good or bad. But it seems no one thinks the Republicans have done anything wrong. It’s always the other guy’s fault. We should realize that we are all in it together and quit bashing each other.
Well, Bill, you now believe that it is DJT’s fault for everything. Even Biden didn’t blame Trump for all his stupid decisions, but you can blame Trump for everything. Here is a thought, Bill. Quit wasting our time and your ink looking for who to blame for Trump’s win. It is done and it is time to move on. What I’d like to hear from you is how I can maintain my net worth, grow it sufficiently to cover my expenses and life style, and help insure my offspring’s future in America. Tom and Dan are providing investment advice so some of the above objectives are being covered. What you can take on is helping to insure my offspring’s futures. You are not helping by looking backwards and placing blame. We got Trump. Now help us figure out how to work with him.
Reading the comments I am frankly stunned! It is revisiting the definition of insanity - the U.S. keeps doing the same thing year after year after year and expect a different outcome. Really? Absolutely ZERO thought given to the debt and continuing deficits - zero, zilch, de nada. Euphoria for the elites - absolutely. For us common folks - as always and once again we are going to get slammed. Choice - Trump or Harris? There is NO choice. The US continues its cruel march into oblivion. Government will continue to grow and trillions will continue to be spent. Hang on to your hats!
Ol' LSO You need to give Trump a chance. First term he was against the world because the world didn't like a mean tweeter. He had the GOP and the Dems against him BEFORE he took office. McCain was an old arrogant politician who killed the healthcare reform. He nows has the smartest mind in the world (Elon) and if he doesn't let his ego get the best of him I think they will make big strides to fix this economy, country, and war torn world. They now probably have both houses of Congress behind him and will be able to actually work to fix things. Look how much he accomplished (before COVID) with the whole world against him. With RFK, Elon, Vivek and others behind him and the GOP understanding that the country has given them a mandate to fix things I think by the 3rd year we will see light at the end of the tunnel. Smaller government, less corrupt (hopefully) and no wars and better people in charge of Departments. Trumps first term was amazing if you look at what he accomplished from the SCOTUS, to no wars, to peace treaties between Israel and muslim countries, and no inflation. Bonner made it sound like inflation was because of Trump and it occurred during biden. Well how about that biden shut down fracking permits, Keystone pipeline, spent gobs (eloquent word) of money on green new nothings and paying illegals to come here and vote. Oh and with Garland as AG they spent time on watching conservatives instead of criminals. I'm done. Nuff said.
So Bill look, I look forward to your daily comments and great humor. Moreover, I very much agree with your position of Trump as an unfettered inflation machine. But a little grace is need given he had to deal with a medical emergency with no precedence to draw upon except the American response to ambiguity i.e. spend.
It's quickly becoming clear how far left and out-of-touch Mr. Bill actually is. Someone in his household deals with our Reality and says "That's it! I'm voting for Trump...", which means that it is a household who otherwise voted for Harris. Doesn't get much more out-of-touch than that.
People in this category have no idea what "Grace" means in the context you used...
I have an annual subscription to Bonner, but I am NOT going to renew it. I am frankly just tired of Bill's bullshit and Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Tom's help aside, there's not much to like.
I have had better success with recommendations from Contrarian Outlook, which emphasizes dividend payers and especially Closed End Funds (CEF). Very reasonable as well.
The below comments on the Pandemic and Trump, being new to gov't, are excellent in that Trump was in a Catch 22 with regards to his advice and the sending out of funds to the American people.
He now has the backing of the best conservative think tanks and his circle of advisors like RFK Jr and Musk just can't be beat. The next four years should be really exciting. I would prefer he act like Milieu in Argentina and take a fucking chainsaw to gov't.

I think Elon will recommend all of the above + more and be villainized horribly.
Yes but the MSMedia is going broke. And now the US military has a very clear picture of where the public stands on the clowns.
Let's not forget that the right is also bent on destruction of the Constitution, perhaps moreso. Bush v. Gore was an important nail in the coffin and was a direct violation of constitutional powers. T:: No! The money could only go to reducing our debt.
Great point! And Natural Gas too. The US gets much of its natural gas as a (essentially) free byproduct of fracking. Push up those LNG exports as well
Perhaps, rather than exporting all our cheap energy to the rest of the world, we should consider the advantage it would give to rekindling domestic industry. You know, jobs? Climb up onto a taller hill, Mark. We can (and will) do both...
How about trying a bit of freedom of speech, liberty, private property and pursuit of happiness. It worked for 150 hundred years.

"...immediately demanded nationwide shutdowns, cementing any chance for Trump to keep this nation and economy afloat without giveaways…."
Nailed it...
Yea well Americans just responded.
Noted a typo; should be Plandemic :-)
So you would rather have Kamala ( empty suit) & Waltz (really) more immigration/ trans sex changes
windmills & solar phony climate change programs?? maybe your okay in Argentina or France!
Agreed
Bill:
Well said! I'd love to see a body count each night before I go to bed and wake up to the smell of a rotting Bureaucrat corpse. Victory!
Don't you mean chainsaw! Hacksaw would take too too long. Go Argentina on him.
And Trump is eloquent?
It's not nice to pull the host's pants down, but THANK YOU for getting the Facts, sir...
Didn't mean to embarrass Bill, but just perform a deeper dive into the data because I knew his conclusion was not correct. Thanks for the comment.
Well Mr. Campbell, I tend to agree with you.
Nah. Me neither...
PM
Goodbye
BC: Don’t let the door hit you in the butt.
Yep
I think you know you are putting out a half truth or total lie when you do not qualify Trump's spending with there was COVID. Why do you do that when must of know you are full of it?
Agreed
How must his junior partners feel, watching the Boss destroy their equity? Best always. PM
Jeez!
^^^THIS^^^ x 1000...
ML: Bill tells it like it is. He has been honest in his evaluations of both parties…good or bad. But it seems no one thinks the Republicans have done anything wrong. It’s always the other guy’s fault. We should realize that we are all in it together and quit bashing each other.
I respectfully disagree unless your Bill's mom.
Well Dan, at least we know Bill has one logical female in his family 🤔
Bill, your "broken record", should be replaced. You are NOT rpt NOT achieving any good.
RALPH W.
