In the animal kingdom, alpha males often drive off rivals. Primates, seals, birds...they often fight – sometimes to the death -- for the right to mate.

Bill needs to get out of his New Times bubble more often.
As a Trump Defender, surely you recall he promised to reduce the deficit but, once in office, did the exact opposite. Isn't that another example of his perfidy?
Sigh, spare me the sarcasm. Trump is imperfect, I've never disputed or denied that. When you point out that his "budget request exceeds revenues by $3 Billion" that's a rounding error in a 7 Trillion dollar enterprise. Trump is the least of our problems.
If one was to stick with nuance, we have become a tech dominated Fascist Oligarchy. While the other bootlicking Trumpistas in Congress are down on their knees before their holy one, only Massie, Mace and a few Dems have the balls to tear back the ugly wall protecting the Billionaire pedophiles. Covered up by Trump, the Obfuscation and Redaction President, as well as Biden and Obama before him, perhaps the public can see, for the first time, the true deep state merging of tech lords, the billionaire class, the intelligence community, and the aristocracy, with an unhealthy dose of sex trafficking and pedophilia thrown in. How is Ghislaine enjoying her upgraded prison accommodations at Club Fed? She thanks you Sir Donald…
Tom Massie doesn't have to worry about an early death. Now Iif he were a Democrat speaking about Hillary's policies the same way he speaks of Trump's policies, I might not be as confident.
Neo-fascism is a two way street. The government bows to corporate power as much as corporations bow to the government. Many regulatory agencies are bought and paid for by the corporations they supposedly “regulate”.
Two-way street is spot-on. Power and Money and/or Money and Power. Power can acquire the Money and Money can acquire the Power. It is human nature and human nature never changes. We humans have not evolved much since climbing out of the swamp. Currently America is racing towards the cliff - "hell bent for leather" as the saying goes. And, as always happens when the wheels come off and the car careens off the cliff, us peons suffer the worst. Those in Power - many lose their heads - but the masses hurt and hurt and hurt. There is so much noise (propaganda, lies, deceive - if you are awake, you know) and we peons continue to struggle to make daily life work, we have no time or - truth be known, no power - to change anything. We are in the last days of the American Empire and I wonder - how does it end? Hopefully in a whimper, but with Trump and his Masters - unfortunately, probably not. Enjoy life while you can!
what a bunch of cry baby shit, go live in Cuba…life will be better and you will arrive at the destination you continue to wish upon the American people.
Concern about the continuing deficits and total debt is a legitimate concern…nobody is wishing this on this great country but trying to avoid the shit show in Cuba
Think you are dead on target, my position being to hell with all of these self proclaimed elites, they are just mortal men as I am just a mortal man and I will live my life as I desire irrespective of any mortal man bogus legislated laws and mandates. I hope I live my life the way God desires and to hell with mortal man desires!! We are all born into this Earthly World by God’s Plan and we will all leave this Earthly World by God’s Plan, mortal man is just a thing!!!
Haha, I will render only what I elect to render, this has been my program for all my previous years on this Earth and will continue to be, not to be rude to you, I have and always will make my own decisions. 77 years of age and have never bowed to any mortal man especially and specifically a thieving political parasite! God Bless you and your family!
"kalos" in Greek means "good" and "kakos" means "bad". Examples: Caligraphy is beautiful writing, and if you saw my handwriting, you would be justified in calling it "Kako graphy". Cacophony means "noise" or "dissonant sound".
At first I read Kakastocracy, derivative of the slang kaka, as in a mound of poop. That works too. Kakistocracy is closely related to Idiocracy, a remarkably prescient 2006 film.
Unfortunately no man is an island . We might not be directly dependent on those programs but we are all dependent on the economy functioning. And there is way too many voters that can’t survive without them. Which intern makes everyone dependent.
AI, I'm pessimistic about the future because of what I have seen over my lifetime of 73 years. The country is changed from the one in which I grew to manhood. The change was brought about and characterized by the growth in government with a corresponding decline in individual rights and liberty, the two things that had made America truly great AND exceptional. Government is becoming a constant, controlling force in not only the life of the country but of the individual citizens and non-citizens. Government is determined to do everyone's thinking for him/her. That is not to say that "life" cannot be relatively good or pleasant in some regards, and still possibly, nay, even likely, better than elsewhere, but the fact is, seen in an historical perspective, the direction of the country is opposite of what it was and intended to be. I am determined to go forward, but I regret what I consider to be the inability of the country to live up to its own standard. Best always. PM
"Who now is not dependent on the government? Social Security. Medicare. Mortgage deductibility. Suppressed interest rates. Artificially boosted house and stock market prices. The Military/Industrial/Spook complex. The universities. The pharmaceutical industry." - Bill in today's missive
I am proud to say that I am the antithesis to your thesis. I don't depend on any of your drivel above. I am an American that worked my ass off to put myself in a position where none of the above matters to me. I suspect you did as well. Which begs the question: Why do you hate the country that gave you so much?
good, Like Rosie they will come back. Having been to 33 countries let me tell you, there is no place like the US of A. It might suck right now (Depends on your perspective) but it is still the best. The fact that they leave vices tell ing the world they are leaving, is all theatre. In other words, bullshit.
In My opinion the "best" of the "worst." As far as i can see there is no country on this planet that is "good" to live in. But We deal with what We have to deal with. Life goes on until it doesn't.
That's not an answer. Those of us that love this place and the ideals it represents have stayed and do what we can to put it back on the right track. Taking pot shots from France, Ireland, Central and South America doesn't express love.
I don’t see Bill Bonner hating anything, especially not the USA. He seems disappointed and sad like I am, probably for some similar and different reasons. Me, I’m very disappointed my Republicans have done little to rein in the liberal leftist Democrat craziness over the past 50 years.
I agree with your comment Michael. I lived and worked 10 years in Colombia and Mexico, 1963 - 1973, and comparing the USA with those others is a slam dunk. The problem Bill Bonner keeps pointing out is the present direction we're headed- NON-STOP. "Paul Volker 2nd edition" anyone?
Volker didn't have to worry about the consequences of an acknowledged $38 trillion in debt we would NOW not be able to service if interest rates went to 20% to "cure" inflation, which we never really did cure, as Mr. Bonner and Staff's charts show all the time. Best always. PM
Ah, another Bonner missive straight from the insane asylum. Almost totally unhinged, focused only on his distorted interpretation of events to exaggerate the negatives and ignore any positives. From time to time, he sprinkles in a few grains of truth to make his swill palatable. He is a "glass half-empty" type of guy. I only read him to see what he will reveal about himself next. It could be that in his actual life, Bonner is a nice guy. Maybe he just uses his writing as therapy to get out all the hate he feels due to the fact that we don't live in a perfect world. Yes, there is much wrong about our politics, but to totally ignore anything good is not being truthful. In any event, I'm here mainly for the insights of Tom and Dan, and I read Bonner out of curiosity to see how far down the rabbit hole he will go.
Well, there are two themes with Bonner in his later iteration: 1) avoid the Big Loss and 2) connect the dots. The personal political musings fall under the heading of dot-connecting, although the dot-connecting is not entirely reliable, given that the reality of our situation never follows the "rules". The dot-connecting purports to be a value-add along with the cause celebre of loss-avoidance. Personally, I view the purported dot-connecting as entertainment. Best always. PM
I only have a few remarks. No man is completely evil. When a president takes over a country the first nothing he does is clean up the mess of the past. Obama started the beginning of the downtrend of our country. Biden continued and reversed most of Trumps accomplishments. We were energy independent; not under Biden. We had a closed border; not under Biden (he let more than 10-15 million illegals, many sick and criminals). Trump is trying to revere all the insanity of WOKE. I think he is going after waste and fraud although there is much more work to do. This has been only one year and much accomplished. My hope is that the administration will begin to tackle the debt. Time will tell. In the past all presidents have basically done the same thing and expect different results. Trump is different but no fascist. Look around you we live in a country where many people rely on the government instead of self reliance. This has to change. This is unsustainable. I’ve said enough, more to come in the future.
Do we murder those who are potential liabilities? Surely, decided.y not. In fact, I just don't know how John F. Kennedy got killed in public or Vince Foster's former self showed up on a berm in a Virginia park wrapped in carpet, since his death was adjudged a suicide. Best always. PM
I hit Technocracy. Not a tough choice when 2 devices notified me of this Note. I wonder how many corporations/FED agencies/(State agencies?) know I received and responded?
You omitted Kleptocracy, which would have been my choice.

The addiction to pork is a national epidemic that transcends party lines.
That is the truth.
Whatever programs Congress tried to save does not negate the simple fact that Trump's budget request exceeds revenues by $3 Billion
Surely MAGA, et al., recalls while electioneering he promised repeatedly just the opposite.
So nitpicking the minuscule while turning a blind eye towards the trillions in order to impugn "Trump's budget" is a valid position?
Davey my boy,
As a Trump Defender, surely you recall he promised to reduce the deficit but, once in office, did the exact opposite.

And yet, it was this very administration & Trump that released file that had been hidden away almost two decades. How odd…
Only after the bill was passed to force them to do that
Yes, but which party is the one controlling what comes up for a vote, therefore everything that’s passed at this time?
no bill passed to release the JFK Files….
Haha such as they were. Best always. PM

Bill is right on the issue of dependency.
Unfortunately no man is an island . We might not be directly dependent on those programs but we are all dependent on the economy functioning. And there is way too many voters that can’t survive without them. Which intern makes everyone dependent.
There's a lot of great and momentous things happening...
Seems many on this BPR comment section are very pessimistic about the future.
Not sure why...
Perhaps they might balance the negativity spewed on this site with more positive views coming from others such as Charles Payne.

Why? Because Bonner has no ability to put it all in perspective. He focuses on the negative only and ignores the positive. But you already know this.
As Paul Simon sang, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest. Mr. Bonner has a case to make, so he makes it, right? Best always. PM
