Ms. Harris talked at length about how more government, and more programs, and more spending (and CARING ! Don't forget CARING!) is "the new way forward" and how more government will not only improve things but create utopia. The answer is NEVER less government, but more government. How about a candidate saying, "You know, we tried spending billions, trillions on this, that, and the other thing, and it didn't work. I propose we stop doing that. Some things we're just going to have to live with or solve locally." I'm done, y'all. The country is too stupid to save itself. Best always. PM

Paul, I enjoy reading your comments. Many times they are better than Bill's articles! As I am sure you know Javier Milei is the candidate. Below is a good update on how the less government approach is working...so far.

Hiya Bill -

Another fact-filled missive brimming with dismal content.

"𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩 ‘𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧’ 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙙 𝙤𝙛𝙛? 𝘼𝙈𝙏𝙍𝘼𝙆? 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙣 𝙥𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙮? 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙧𝙪𝙜𝙨? 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙄𝙧𝙖𝙦? 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙣 𝙏𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙧? 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁-35? 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙯𝙚𝙧𝙤 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙮? $2 𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙗𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙨?"

So very true. However, I think you're missing a foundational point here. Namely, our "government" is going to continue spending big bucks on BS for the foreseeable future. I notice all of your examples cited above are from the past, in some cases the distant past - yet we are still shelling out hard-earned for each of them. I further noticed that you neglected to include any of the Darling Boondoggles from today's progressive/communist dimocrat party. Things like gender reassignment surgery for Federal prisoners, the HUGE amount of money that has been wasted/is being wasted/will be wasted on the useless and unnecessary "Green" New Deal, the BILLIONS we send to other Countries as "foreign aid" for "programs" such as determining the mating habits of the Red-Spotted Tortoise Hare in NorthEastern Pakistan (apparently they DO smoke a cigarette after sex) and even dumber 'research' in other corrupt places, plus the whopper in the room - the sickening amount of money we spend on shipping illegal invaders into our Country by government rail, air and bus, then settling and supporting them for a never-ending amount of time. All told, billions and billions and billions - all spent on idiotic ideas and programs with the majority likely being laundered back into the hands of the people who voted to spend the money in the first place, and their Owners.

𝗠𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 - the program you so glibly denigrate is a reasonable, potentially valuable area for government "spending" that very likely would have beneficial results for our Nation. And you rag on it from your usual anti-government spending perch, based on a not-so-veiled jealousy/envy of any and all things Trump. C'mon man - you must realize how tiresome and banal the words are becoming when you have to equate past government waste with a fresh, logical idea just because the leader touting it is on your permanent shit list.

Again, we see you for what you are Bill (you make it easier every day), yet we still deign to read what you have to say.

Bottom Line - Our government is gonna piss away our money regardless of what we do. At the least you could acknowledge that one man/party has plans to spend some of it on things that might actual work, and stop diverting and/or gaslighting us with other sad facts just to continue your often-feeble attempt to discredit the one man who has the balls, track record and Will to try and help our Country out of the wreck that the people on your speed dial have steered us in to.

PS - The illegal invaders, Haitian Edition, ARE eating household pets in Ohio and other places. They have been doing it for YEARS here in South Florida...

I think the "will to try" is the most significant point you make Starboard. At this point I don't see another option. Harris has changed all her Marxist views to Trumps positions and especially the Caring part as PM points out below is so important to her, "saving all her poor constituents." Just Democratic nonsense over and over again while they continue to censor and jail. Trump has enlisted Kennedy, Gabbard those solid Democrats who have seen the light. My assessment is Trump is kinda dumb, economically, since he made his money in the system of free credit. On the other hand he can be changed, just like Kamala has changed her positions, God is behind him, certainly more than the globalists. We've seen what globalists do clearly, censor, force mandates, violate the Constitution, attempt to destroy the Consitution, travel bans, 15 minute cities, wokism insults in every way possible, attempt assasination. It's definitely a choice of the lesser of two evils OR one evil and one economically ignorant, but it's a clear choice given our pragmatic visibility of their respective track records.

Mr. Mackinac, Do you really think VP Harris's masters have changed their positions (you must know she is just a figurehead)? If they retain the WH, they will go even more hard-Left than now.

Expand full comment
Mackinac's avatar

No I don't believe her masters have changed their positions but she has changed her "official" positions with respect to this campaign. I think her masters feel they can get away with lying about their long term positions, hence they have changed Kamala's positions in an attempt to win this election. When they have the MSM constantly backing up their latest positions they feel they can get away with those lies and it makes Kamala appear more neutral. Obama used the same tactic.

I have a question for you Bill (though it's rhetorical) given you won't read it, much less bother to respond. Let me set up some context for you: Your guy was RFK, Jr. You waxed lyrical about how he consulted you on economics (not the best move, but hey, nobody's perfect). Elon Musk is saying that if Trump wins he will head up a Committee to reign in government spending because our country is going broke (sound familiar?). Your boy RFK, Jr. has given Trump a full throated endorsement and wants to serve in his administration. So Bill, when are you going to get on the Trump Train?

RFK, Jr. broke my heart last night. He's what Truman Capote would call a "genuine phony". The man is a wreck. He has destroyed his voice, and his hands started shaking with every gesture. I believe the campaign did him in. And for what? This is what we've come to. Sad. Best always. PM

RFK, Jr. sat with Sean Hannity for a few minutes in the so-called Spin Room after the debate, and he and Hannity bantered a bit. I was amazed to see his (Kennedy's) condition. Your comment dealt peripherally with RFK, Jr., and I added a personal observation to it. If you did not see the brief exchange between RFK, Jr. and Hannity, I'm sure my comment came across as bizarre, for which I apologize. Read nothing into it; I have no ulterior motive other than historically on this forum, I have not been sympathetic at all to Mr. Kennedy; in fact, I have been antagonistic. That's all. Many thanks and best always. PM

Sovereign Wealth Fund - another trough for the pigs. Americans are so slow to learn and of course many never will. The entire Federal Budget is one gigantic money laundering fraud. That would be every single line item. It is simply theft on the grandest of scales. Spending bills have had phony names since at least the 1970s, making Americans think their money was going for things like Infrastructure, Inflation Reduction or Public Health, when not a dime went for those things. Biden just admitted that the Inflation Reduction Act was a scam for Climate Change funding, itself a giant scam and money laundering operation. He even added “we should have called it what it was”. That made me laugh. They haven’t called it what it is since the 1956 Federal-Aid Highway Act signed by Eisenhower.

Sophistry, I think, means clever, but false, arguments GF. There was nothing clever about either candidates claims the entire "debate", but very clearly false. I already had the bar set pretty low, but was dismayed even then - the whole thing was awful. If, as suggested by some, KH was wearing some sort of earpiece, then you might have thought they'd have come up with something a bit better than the crap she managed to deliver, and I think by now we're all quite aware of what DT thinks of his "greatest" everything. Not sure who they thought they were pitching to - but it obviously wasn't me, and I so wanted Trump to trump. Weird and depressing

Now, I am thinking about how can I make some money while all of the muttonheads are going about effing over or trying to, unless they met with us on the avenues as POTUS #3 cautioned the creatures of foggy bottom are “… warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance.”

I thought my choice of word was a short cut for “the spectacle” more like a logical sounding fallacy that involves using arguments that are false but sound correct ...with intent to deceive.

The Sovereign-Wealth Fund sent shivers up my spine. This is so Delusional it makes both the "New Deal" and the "Great Society" seem like minor events. Given that both parties are behind this idiotic (it needs a more descriptive adjective - help pls) idea, it will most likely happen and accelerate America's slide into oblivion as the US$ slithers into the sewers. Again, the Government shows its true colors - it doesn't want to engage in improving our economy by focusing on reducing spending - it just will try to force others - as John Senden wrote in 1694 - "do as we say, not as I do". I keep thinking it can't get worse....and then it does again and again.

There were several factors that caused sovereign wealth funds to be successful for some nations:

1 A sudden windfall of cash rolls into the treasury;

2 The nation is relatively debt-free, or has a positive treasury balance;

3 The nation could benefit from an organized plan for pulling people out of poverty;

4 National spending can be set with very few people having to approve of the plans;

5 A mono-culture.

This is only a partial list, and not every point has to be ticked off for this to work. Both Saudi Arabia and Norway had large petroleum deposits under their land, much more than they could use internally; they were able to implement a sovereign wealth fund with fewer obstructions than the United States would face.

If the US were to create a sovereign wealth fund, who would control the budgeting and spending? And how would this be different from what happens now?

When I saw that the ultimate bankster, Richard Duncan, approved of this plan, then I knew the best solution would be to look in the opposite direction.
