The big, beautiful bill also increases the debt level by $2 trillion per year over the next two years, bringing it over $40 trillion before the next mid-terms. It adds $3 trillion to existing deficits
more of the same one sided bullshit. Will it get rough, yes, clearly. However, for all your bashing where is the data suggesting how badly the canuks are tariffing the US before Trumps tariff campaign. Guess you can't publish facts that distort your negative, anti-us rhetoric. Very very boring one-sided bullshit coming out everyday. At least Tom and Dan keep it real and focus on making money, or protecting money - isn't this what this newsletter is suppose to be about? Maybe not on a daily basis with BPR, I ask, :Where is the R in BPR? All we get is BB's daily dose of one sided bullshit. Honestly, if it weren't for Dan and Tom I'd be gone.
"Will it get rough?" Seriously.........nothing is changing. Don't you get it...NOTHING! It is the same ol' BS packaged slightly different. What do you want Bill to do? Tell you Trump is doing his best...that it will get better...fiat currency will go on forever. Geez....Bill speaks what he sees from his decades of watching the same ol' BS go around and around. Now he tells you here it comes again - and you blow a gasket.
Really Old man? Nothing is changing? Guess when you are suffering from TDS and extreme cognitive decline like most on the left, nothing seems to be changing, but the reality, which the left has no grasp on, is everything is changing, and at incredible speed. Just one fact that Bidens main advisors(Obama, Al Sharpton and Xi Ping, along with the rest of the Globalist elites are so close to ending our Republic and the left still focus on saving Hamas and keeping men in women’s sports🤔 mental illness at its finest. While Trump has assembled a brilliant team of experts and Americans that are working at warp speed to save this country and world from insanity. One only has to be able to reason to see the truth and the damage the left has inflicted on us, but reason, logic and truth are not acceptable in the demented world of democrats. Seriously 😊
The Ol LSO has some OL experience here. It isn't getting any different if they are increasing the debt by 2T per year. I love Trump but he is getting some bad advice or he is just plain ignorant of the debt situation and how to fix it. One doesn't fix it by increasing it. Is it more complex than that? Get real! That has been the problem all along. That extra money simply doesn't work. It creates more corruption! It devalues your savings. It allows the same old same old to continue.
Y'all are so very tiresome. None of you it seems, not a SINGLE ONE, have anything at all to offer beyond Hatred of Trump. Nothing positive, nothing helpful, nothing constructive. Just endless prattle about who is a victim and how Whitey or Trump is the villain. Aren't you sick of yourselves yet?
Well, there is ONE thing y'all are pretty good at - the incessant promotion of Degeneracy. News flash, that ain't nothin' to be proud of...
Um, your team hasn't offered up anything positive for most of my adult life, but you prove my point nicely. Gotta tie EVERYTHING back to Trump and the Hatred you hold for him.
I forgot one critically important fact. The EU or the EU leadership is trying to start WWIII, clearly. Why? Because they want to become the global world leaders, period. Every single game being played by the WEF is for global leadership and has been for years, covid, wokism, climate change, central planning, not allowing Georgescu to run for office in Romania, hating Orban, Meloni, anything that opposes their central planning leadership, etc. Now they MUST start WWIII as their last chance to survive and grasp that leadership. Why? Because Powell draining the world of liquidity has brought the EU very close to bankruptcy. But now Canada which through Trudeau is very much in bed with the WEF and now Carney is a Trojan horse to the US. He isn't even Canadian but is British. They day he got in office he is now offering Canadian bonds in US dollars. These bonds essentially allow the Canadians, though unknown to Canadians, to finance the EU or WEF in their efforts to start WWIII. The EU can't finance WWIII without more liquidity, they are broke, and Powell is tightening the noose on the EU. See this explanation by Tom Luongo: He has understood this game every step of the way so far in the resurrection of Trump and this battle for global power. See the first half of this poscast explanation: about 40 minutes.
I don't know if Trump can see what is happening but considering his speeches and JD Vance's recent EU speech it appears he must know who he is fighting against. Fighting for freedom of speech and freedom in general against the WEF and EU leadership. Just consider all the nonsense coming from the WEF leadership of which Trudeau is a solid partner. In this sense it makes sense to allow Trump a bit more time to win this battle and put together a solid freedom leadership instead of the Marxist, WEF leadership. And hence maybe bit more time for Trump to consolidate US world leadership extending the debt. I would choose that because I trust Trump and certainly do not trust the WEF or EU leadership. If it was just the US and balancing the budget in this fight I would stand with Massie but it is more than that and WWIII is what is at stake.
what will you say when the change manifests? The war is about to wind down, Inflation just came in better than expected and it has only been 50 days - as I say, BB, give it time or come up with an alternative.
actually, agree with fiat rage, however, you defend BB, giving us the same bullshit daily. At least this admin (I find Trump a blowhard, but with some new ideas) is trying new tactics to get the gov't back under control. Or...do you favor the constant barrage of multi-trillion dollar debt every year? For four years under Biden we heard none of this bullshit political melodrama - What do I want you ask? How about giving the admin a chance to succeed before you torpedo it to hell. Better yet, torpedo it, identify what you see as the problem, however, don't leave it hanging - offer a solution. But if you did that well, you would have to turn in your TDS/Democrap card. Better keep bashing, keeps the paying constituency arguing. Really a profound way to run a newsletter labeled B P R(esearch), Did you take the research out of the title? What is it now? Bonner Private Rants?
I was highly critical of SO MUCH done by the last administration, but they are out of power now. Trump and the Republicans increasing the debt limit again is extremely disappointing to me. I think it's OK to judge individual issues on their merits and move beyond cheering for one "team" or the other.
PS I give Trump huge credit for his efforts to end the war in Ukraine!
Give the effort of the right some time my friend. We have already seen unimaginable progress in two months. Give it a year before we judge and I pray we get through the coming summer of libtard insanity and come out stronger than ever🙏
I am hopeful, Steve. Still, it’s hard for me to rationalize raising spending to cut spending. I remember feeling that Reagan sold us a bill of goods as regards spending/budgeting, and it feels similar now.
Imagine telling your kids and grandkids that you’ve been dining out and sending the bill to them for 50 years, and you’re going to stop soon—JUST NOT YET.
I agree Tim but this is the end game and this administration is going to try things that can only save a Too Big to Fail business called America. If this doesn’t work, which is more likely than not, we will be explaining to those same kids(in Chinese) how great America was before it became just one more third world shithole State of Mexico….
Yes stiff, all smoke and mirrors and total BS. The most important thing here is how the left are melting down and how the American/European/Canadian globalists/swamp creatures are fighting for survival while the world’s citizens are finally waking up. I expect a massive pushback from these criminals and we are only in the beginning stages of something that will change our world forever. If right wins, it will be for the better. If not, we are all on our own and make sure you have a nice bolthole and plenty of water, food and ammo. The lefts only plan is total destruction of America and we can’t let that happen. The left has already been beaten. What is needed is to stop the money flow creating the problem and let the market work. I love to see the left fall apart. I love to hear their crying and whining but they constantly increased the money supply and corruption. To fix it we need to stop it.
I for one find Bill Bonner’s opinions very valuable and enjoy considering his dry humor intelligent perspective as a Washington DC historian when filtering, sorting and comparing the fire hose stream of information coming at us each day. I don’t have to agree with everything he says, but most if not all that he offers, gives my own thoughts a sounding board for comparison. Thank you Bill, Tom and Dan. I'm confused, Trump team doesn't want to face a government shutdown, but they wanted one when the Democrats were in power. The Dems screamed to the stars during Biden's term when we had a government shutdown, and now they want one?
It's nice Elon Musk's work has partially defunded the swamp's election machine. However, would it not make sense to spend 2 trillion less to force the belt tightening in DC?
I fear America has no horse to put in front of the cart.
Is it possible that the $2 trillion add to the debt is a CBO projection which counts the extension of the tax cuts as deficit adds. The same CBO that has been wrong in their projections every time? Seems to me this is a long term adjustment whose results cannot be judged by every twist and turn of the market. Appreciate your cynicalism but I’m going to see if the Trump team can outlast the screamers.
When you're sole purpose of having a "newsletter" is to disparage, demean and delete Trump - then long-term, mid-term or short-term biased assessments are all handy tools. Whichever does the most "damage", misleads the most readers and let's you get your Hate on...
Trump attacking Massie is foolish. He is the one guy he should be supporting and moving the right direction, balanced budget. Trump has not seen the writing on the wall. Since Jan 27th the dollar has fallen, stocks have fallen, gold has risen, tariffs have been trumpeted. You don't fix the primary problem of an unbalanced budget, or the government being centrally planned by increasing the supply of credit. By the way in case anyone has not seen what is causing all these problems we are facing it is "free" money and not free markets. Trump said he wanted to balance the budget so do it.
I agree, attacking Massie is a misstep. Hey, nobody said/claimed President Trump was perfect, that territory seems to have been staked out by Mr. Bonner! His disingenuous protestations to the contrary. Mr Bill wants so badly to be Trump. It’s getting ridiculous.
Yes, and National Review! 🤣 Musk is the Jacobin? Give me a freaking break. Bill’s leftard buddies are the REAL Jacobins and have been dismantling this country for decades!
Invite all to take a look into this highly technical political issue:
The repeating allegations of Mr Bonner that it's all inevitable that spending continous and increases has a legal background which is to be found in the Impoundment Control Act from 1974 which prohibits to just cancle payments or funds that have been found misallocated or useless or unapproppiate, whatsoever. They have to be spent on some other project. There is a solution to that: RESCISSION. David Stockman lays it out here: https://brownstone.org/articles/its-rescission-time/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Highly recommended read.
Trump’s play is about buying time. He’s got the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with Musk and Ramaswamy pushing for deep cuts, but jamming those into law right now is a nonstarter with a slim House majority and a Senate needing 60 votes to dodge a filibuster. A CR avoids a shutdown fight that’d derail his early momentum—think tax cuts, border security, tariffs—and lets DOGE build its case. Come FY26 budget talks, he could use reconciliation (only 51 Senate votes needed) to ram through those cuts without Democratic buy-in. It’s less about loving the CR’s bloat and more about keeping the board clear for bigger moves later.
Right on the money Tucson! And I’d add overcoming the debt limit.
Imagine we were faced with the $37T debt and had to get a serious approach to a balanced budget. IMHO it would have to be an “out of the box “ solution that would completely revamp our financial system (& the world financial system per our Treasury Sec’y). Maybe starting with increasing tariffs , decreasing income taxes??
We’ll see a clearer plan come 2026 budget (vs 6weeks of a 4-year term).
1- the CR is an artifact of an American system of government that has been unable to pass a legitimate budget for at least 20 years. The fact is that it is just a first step in a plan to keep the major changes necessary repair the damage that hath been delivered by the pinheads possible. Authorizing an additional 4 T in debt doesn't mean it will be spent and the fact that the current 37 T is totally crippling without the additional 4 T is obvious. So realize that the CR is just an opening gambit in a much longer game.
2. the DOGE cuts of about 1/2 of the Federal work force and program cuts are required because unless the trajectory of the debt changes to it being reduces then the US will no longer be able to sell bonds in order to keep it financed. Democrats will just have to understand that the government spends and has spent way too much. and that the pain of federal unemployment and in fact many good and useful programs are simply not affordable will be nothing compared to the fall out from a major US credit default.
3. I think Trump will let Gold prices raise to the roof maybe 30k to 40k/ oz. and then tie the dollar . currency to a specific weight of gold.
Exactly who is the betrayed party? Our friends to the North or our neighbors who have lived with hugely unbalanced tariffs being imposed by the Canadian Government for years? Hmmmm - seems that, in this case, "betrayal" is a two-way street, with a toll booth on the north-bound lanes.
While I could minimally agree with the sentiment (I think "focusing" on the "distractions" is an integral part of a grander Trump strategy - it sure gets people talking about the new Administration), National Review is probably not the best source to use. In fact, every "news media outlet" you cite in today's missive (CNN/Mediate/USA Today and NR) are ALL historically and vehemently Anti-Trump, and even more Anti-MAGA. It's quite easy to spin your words in whatever direction you want if you are only going to give us extremely biased "sources." But Same Old, Same Old here at BPR, eh?
Starboard May I ask , being a Canadian, Where did You get the stat of Canada ripping off Your Country. I know some of the stats in My country and I am willing to learn more as the stats tell a big story.
Here is a brief list, but take note it illustrates "new" tariffs that are in response to Trump's 25% increase. The rub is that this list reflects INCREASED tariff amounts on these items - prior to the current "trade war", most of these things were already being tariffed going into Canada at a higher rate than they were being tariffed being imported into the US. Particularly many Dairy and Beef products - in some cases Canada imposed tariffs upward of 100% on particular Farm Items, with little or no corresponding tariff on the same Canadian goods coming south. So in essence, Trump is trying to even the playing field, just as he has said...
PS - I would prefer we just play nice together - remove ALL tariffs between us on ALL goods and let the market decide which items they want to take off the shelf and purchase. It would increase Availability, Selection and Competition - all are good things for the consumer...
Now I do not know all of the details of the trade agreement between USA, Canada and Mexico. But I would assume that Donald at the Time of signing would have long addressed these issues. May be wrong, I will have to see if I can get the agreement on the web and try to make sense of all the lawyer talk. In the mean time I have to agree that We should play nice together in the sand box of humanity. After all it is only a government that can screw up capitalism.
Yes Don, it’s the government and not the people, just unfortunate that the people voted in Trudeau who like Biden, Zelenskyy and most globalists, get elected through deceit and corruption. As we have seen in our 2020 fake elections, the left has incredible control and power over our media, which spews the lies and propaganda they want the people to believe. All lies and BS, like we see here, but the people still fall for it. As long as people can’t think for themselves, the left will continue to win. I believe that is changing. We will see with Canada’s next election how much power the left still holds up north, but until then, buy the dip in crypto 😊
Yes Dan, we all love you and most of our family here in BPR, but as most families go, Bill, or Dad, is getting old and maybe a little cognitively tired, and like most families, we have the black sheep(democrats) that always seem to be the broken spokes In every wheel of family happiness. But at the end of the day, we are all human and just here for the entertainment 😊
Couldn't agree more. I realized last night that I had cursed 3 times in one post and felt ashamed. The "reason" at the time of writing was that I was extremely angry about the Trump/Massie thing, but my dad (RIP) would set me straight but letting me know that there was no justification for those words and using them only made me look less intelligent, not more angry. So - I apologize to my fellow posters/readers and will strive to do better...
🤣 when you start quoting cnn and various other LYING outfits, yes, it’s lies. And are you claiming the democratic communist party doesn’t lie every day all day on just about every single topic for decades. Dorothy, if you can’t see that TRUTH, a chat on this thread isn’t going to help you. I’ll do you one better, the Demonrat Party is satanic, period.
MW: So what channels do you watch?? I watch several different ones. It’s you that can’t see the truth. Satanic…Really! You can’t always believe what candidates say, but... what they do. Would you like to go back and review Trumps past history? He’s a salesman, with plenty of BS. Remember all his convictions? I could go on but I don’t think you will do any fact checking, so have a nice day!
CNN had it backwards: Doug Ford reversed his charges on electricity and then Trump went back to his original 25% tariffs. You quoted CNN without correcting.
Second, wait for the recision package the House puts up in the Spring to activate the DOGE cuts. Although we would all prefer a balanced budget, it's unrealistic to expect it be done by fiat.
I can't believe I read a column and take advice from a guy who quotes CNN and the National Review. I was ashamed for Bill when I discovered that Canada has been placing 150-250%+ tariffs on our agricultural products for years and years. No one mentions this imbalance when castigating Trump for the audacity and meanness of his tariff programs used to negotiate better trade conditions for hollowed-out American manufacturers. No mention of the tremendous success those tariffs have had in only a very short time. Bill's TDS makes him almost unreadable. It's every damn day. Wake the fuck up, Bill. I don't feel betrayed in the least bit. Most excited I've been for the possibility of epic change in my lifetime. Time to wake up and smell the optimism. We know pain comes first, then we rip off the bandaids, and fix our massive debt problem. Trump advocated for a balanced budget in 2026. So STFU and stop reading TDS media.
Thank you Sam! I’m not sure if he actually believes his own drivel, or if he’s doing it purposely to stir up his patrons? Either way, if he keeps it up, I suspect he’ll be losing a lot of his followers/customers.
The culprits, tariff drama and inflation. Tariffs spike inflation = supply shortages like toilet paper Peter Puffer. What about lumber Jack Tall?
Wall Street isn’t waiting, they’re selling faster than quick.
Today @ 8:30 PM Eastern, when markets are closed Joe Blow, the CPI will announce inflation at 6%.
After-hours market nosedive.
Brace for impact Major Tom.
Inflation unchecked, currencies rot, economies will suffocate, and the entire global financial system will convulse in its death battle. Like a star collapsing under its own weight, leaving only a void where prosperity once existed.
A black hole of debt, devouring everything in its path, leaving behind only silence and ruin.
Here's a suggestion to help balance the budget. Trump did a great job yesterday as a car salesman. Maybe he could hawk other products on the White House lawn and all the profits would be specifically targeted to pay off the debt. This would let Trump be Trump, a salesman.
more of the same one sided bullshit. Will it get rough, yes, clearly. You nailed it Dennis.
Bill, you had me interested for a minute until you started using cnn and other libtard rags as proof statements.
I agree, no reason to come out and savage Mr Massie. Big mistake, imho
I hear ya and agree with the sentiment, Jack - but "Trust The Plan", again?
Sigh...
Well, Trump got half of what he named the bill: It’s BIG, but it’s certainly not BEAUTIFUL.
Thank you Hal! Gold and Bitcoin are the future!
Mostly True Words in your column today, Bill - but a TON of Deflection. A couple bones in need of picking:
1. "𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙙, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙠𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝."
2. "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙥 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙗𝙞𝙜 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚, 𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝘾.𝙒. 𝘾𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙚 𝙖𝙩 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬."
We see you, Bill...
NR started veering Left after WFB passed. Proof of WFB’s admonition that any organization not fully and overtly conservative WILL drift Left.
Starboard May I ask , being a Canadian, Where did You get the stat of Canada ripping off Your Country. I know some of the stats in My country and I am willing to learn more as the stats tell a big story.
Hi Don -
Here is a brief list, but take note it illustrates "new" tariffs that are in response to Trump's 25% increase. So in essence, Trump is trying to even the playing field, just as he has said...
https://immigrationnewscanada.ca/us-goods-in-canada-affected-by-tariff/
Amen brother
Reading all the comments is very entertaining. Thanks everyone!
Agreed. Enjoy the spirited debate. Would be nice if we could keep it family friendly (without profanity).
Hi Dan -
Couldn't agree more.
Smart people tend to swear more. So I've read.
😂
I blame it on Bonner for his constant provocations and flat out lies! He’s insufferable and insulting to his “audience”.
Why in the world do you subscribe to Bonner's newsletter? Do yourself a favor: subscribe to a writer whose sentiments more closely reflect yours
Good to get a variety of views. Otherwise its like watching Fox Entertainment
Don’t tell me what to do Roberts, I’ve been following Bonner for over 25yrs.
Wow. Your capacity to read opinions which clearly upset you is awesome
MW: What lies does he tell? Maybe it’s just your lack of knowledge or possibly your hate for the Dem., party.
I always said "demonic," but you are correct as well.
Will try to do better. My apologies.
I read Thomas Massie's reasons for voting no. If what he said actually happens then we will feel betrayed.
Hey Bill, Rosie O'Donnell has moved to Ireland, happy new neighbor.
One of the few who have kept their word.
Yup, that's great news. I read the story and saw the picture. That Rosie is one UGLY dude....
And one less mental patient in America 🇺🇸
🤣😝
Wake the FU, Bill.... love it!! 🤣
Thank you Sam! I’m not sure if he actually believes his own drivel, or if he’s doing it purposely to stir up his patrons? Either way, if he keeps it up, I suspect he’ll be losing a lot of his followers/customers.
Big money is already moving.
This is not a drill!
The S&P 500 and NASDAQ also in the red.
Wooo! 😃🤩😱😂🤣
Got Gold? Or Silver? Or Lead??
The Trifecta! And I’m not talking about a horse race! 😂
Mr. Egypt, you do tell a tale. Well done.
Here's a suggestion to help balance the budget. Trump did a great job yesterday as a car salesman. Maybe he could hawk other products on the White House lawn and all the profits would be specifically targeted to pay off the debt. This would let Trump be Trump, a salesman.
Whitehouse Bake Sale. And Meme Coin bonanza to balance the budget and pay off the debt. Love it!
