In the US, the Swamp has spread from under 10% of the US economy in 1930 to close to 50% today. As the Swamp expands, less and less dry land is left for private life.
America will fail. We allow the unproductive parasites to vote. The Founders only allowed productive citizens to vote. America was never suppose to be a democracy. All democracies have/will fail. They fail violently most times throughout history.
The original version of America has already failed. The Constitutional Republic that our founding fathers established is permanently gone. It will never return. The only open question is what kind of America will emerge to form what follows. That is unclear at present but may become more clear in the near future. There are many possibilities, including everything from the death of sovereign nationhood altogether(via subjugation) to a supranational alliance forming a transitional phase as part of the path to One World Government, to some form of totalitarian dictatorship with American DNA(but much foreign influence). Add your own wager.
But America as those of us over 50 have known it is, sadly and tragically(meaning it didn’t have to happen), history. Pray for America becomes
We ain't nearly done yet. Individual liberty is hard coded into our DNA. I'm with Winston Churchill on this one - "Americans always do the right thing after exhausting every single other alternative first".
You are absolutely right!!!Younger Americans are systematically destroying the only hope that the Western culture has. For me it would be a huge irony.....I left Argentina forty years ago!!!!!!and I am ready to go back!!!!!
Absolutely💯 …and, as an aside, my vote is for “rising sun”…
Elizabeth Willing Powel's question: "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?"
Benjamin Franklin's response: “A republic, if you can keep it.”
Monday, September 17, 1787: The Convention Today
As the last names were being signed, Franklin, in a personal aside to some other members, made an observation about the chair that G. Washington had been sitting in as he presided over the Convention. The chair had an emblem of half of a sun.
Franklin noted that artists often have a hard time distinguishing between a rising and a setting sun in their artwork. “I have often and often, in the course of the session, and the vicissitudes of my hopes and fears as to its issue, looked at that behind the President, without being able to tell whether it was rising or setting: but now at length, I have the happiness to know, that it is a rising and not a setting sun.”
My best guess, and I live the other side of the pond, is that America will split into several countries. If I look at the modern history of Europe or India and the break up of both large and relatively small states, it seems that large nation states can only survive when:
1. The population share a common culture, e.g., "the American Dream"
2. They're getting richer or at least not poorer
3. They have limited ethnic diversity
From my vantage point it seems that Americans, being an inherently mobile people, are self organising on idealogical and ethic grounds already and you sure aren't getting any richer.
Caucasians living in Chicago and in WDC may be joining the Leave the US movement, or at least the Leave The City movement.
The trip wire that may propel them to emigrate from these two enclaves controlled by the Democratic Party are reparations
Initiatives commissioned by the Black mayors in these two cities are now underway. Their goal is to determine if and how to impose reparations on their White residents.
The reparations are intended to rectify the wealth imbalance Black people experience today in these two cities because many of their forebears were enslaved or were denied opportunities because of their race.
No mention of credit given to the progeny of the hundreds of thousands of White people who lost their lives to eradicate slavery, or to those who forebears arrived in the US after slavery was eradicated or to identifying the progeny of prosperous Blacks or American Indians who owned slaves
Also no mention if wealthy Blacks will receive reparations, or of incomes below which White people will not be compelled to pay reparations, or if hotel and restaurants catering to White people will be compelled to pay a surcharge for food and lodging that Whites, including foreign tourists, purchase in these two major cities
A "From Many, One" bonding these initiatives are not
"E Pluribus Unum" died with the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Friends who have seen it tell me the white, ex-pat community in Panama is in place, growing, and noticeable. This is anecdotal, but indicative. "Reparations" is the last-ditch effort of those in control over the last 60 years to keep their constituency on the plantation, thus securing their votes, and simultaneously weaken/kill their opposition. Those advocating reparations and those eager to receive same do not understand (or pretend not to understand) that resources are limited. Such is the legacy of vote-buying via money-printing. It would appear that to survive we must forsake/abandon the cities, so sad as this is. W.B. Yeats identified the problem: "things fall apart; the centre cannot hold." Best always. PM
Right there with you, bro. These developments and current state of affairs are sad to be sure but not unexpected, at least on this end. Anybody paying attention could see this coming from quite a way's off. Wholesale changes coming in November. Lots of people will be finally seeing things as they are for the first time. Best always. PM
I find it fascinating as reparations appears as another utility. Borrowed and implemented across the Northern border regarding indigenous (native indians) to be made whole who had been marginlized by a fleeting concept. What was that saying ? Oh yeah! No such thing as a free lunch. And the state operates with impunity!.
Senior Milei is my hero! What do we have here in the US that approaches him? Jr? Maybe, but the swamp won't let him play. This country will not change until it creates such pain and suffering among the 95% of the non-elite population that they finally insist on change. Don't forget to vote
There’s a good chance some of those in the mobs in the street outside the legislature were on someone’s payroll. This is how the Left does business. They insert their paid thugs into a larger crowd, a crowd which they have agitated and organized to show up, and the recipe is dry tender needing only a spark. This was the MO for the George Floyd riots and for what happened inside the Capitol building on January 6th(the Capitol police assuming the paid thug role then).
Bill, you are partly correct, the SWAMP in the U.S.A. is far more than 50%. You must include the Cities, Counties, and all the bureaucracies if you want to make a good point.
The number doesn't have to be exact, merely in the "neighborhood". The fact that government's "footprint" is so large as to be anywhere near 50% is more than enough to kill everything. And kill it does, and will. Best always. PM
I agree with your comment on the educational system ;and thanks for the comments. It is totally broken, but my two girls have seen the light while they are 44 and 40 with families. I suspect the young contingent will wise up here fairly quickly. I could be wrong but some light is shed on the whole mess after Biden's complete failure in the debate. Frankly he appears insane, not just demented, to me. Not only were his eyes strange but he appeared to have no reasoned logic as he babbled on incoherently and no train of thought. Considering all his actions to date he is pretty much insane.
You can hope, certainly, but you know better. My wife and I had 5 kids who were raised in a traditional-values, politically conservative home. I did my best to offset the liberal garbage they got at school. Result? The boys (2) are conservative, and the girls (3) are all Lefty Libs. Best always. PM
Good timing with this rant. I'm in Costa Rica this week scoping out RealeEstate to start my trek out of the swamp and onto higher, dryer land and to add a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean is a bonus.
You'd have to think that Milei is a "dead man walking", if the global elite begin to think he's becoming more than just an irritant. Can't have the great unwashed getting uppity can we?
‘Finally, the vote was taken. It was dead even. So, the Vice President, Victoria Villarruel, who presides over the Senate, cast the deciding vote... and the measure passed.
Let’s hope ‘dead even’ heads to not just a continuing one vote win in support of disruption for change, for a longer better future.
Entrenched swamp advocates, alligators and snakes lurk! Stop at any price!
‘Even dead’ in the street is acceptable for diehards.
When somebody tells you he's your enemy, believe him. The left has no trouble accepting this fact, and acting on it. However, the same doesn't hold true on the opposite side of the coin very well. I speak of open borders, student loan payoffs, strategic petroleum selloffs, energy policy fugazy, and what have you. They have ears, but hear not.
I'd like to suggest something for BPR to consider doing. BPR does an excellent job of pointing out the stupidities of our leaders, their policies, and the eventual consequences. It might also be beneficial to point to places that have done well by doing the 'right things' - places like Switzerland, Singapore, and Hong Kong - and discussing which of these would be applicable to countries such as the USA and Canada, as well as the consequences that might inure to their citizens. I say this because it might be easier to effect real change if the average citizen had a better idea of available alternatives, rather than voting for a different gibbering chimpanzee politician that promises better results by doing more of the same things that caused all our problems.
Milei is a rare bright light in this world, I hope he can survive the changes he's bringing.
I too hope Milei survives, as long as he stays on the right path.
Here is 2:30 clip (of a 24 min speech a CPAC) by Nayib Bukele the 43rd President of El Salvador - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=szntHLFUWKQ
Nayib Bukele is described as a former radical leftist convert turned populist.
I wonder about Bukele‘s transformation; was it a biblical epiphany event like Acts or an Agency person with a pallet stacked with Benjamin’s.

The gun laws in Panama suck Paul. I'm staying here, bitterly clinging to my religion and some damn fine shootin' irons.

I'm pretty sure Thomas Massie represents Kentucky.

I just hope the young in America are thinking about this.
They are not... All my kids are clueless and ignore the old man... he knows nothing and they know all.

put this comment in the wrong place but see my two comments above. Thanks for your comments.

It will be interesting to see what assets are worth when the entire world is engulfed in WW3.
And 2 Billion are dead!
Needless to say. No one will be building anything but weapons.

Republican alligators and snakes just as dangerous.
Argentinial echo-alchemy, requires much more when massacred in the US vernacular of MAGA, methinks PM.
