Their employees are paid a tad above minimum wage. It's not hard to envision most of them becoming redundant thanks to AI.
When that occurs, this area will be hit with another generational economic whammy resulting in foreclosures, the collapse of small businesses galore and a diminished tax base that will lead to an atrophying array of public services and no reason to stay
Play this scenario throughout the nation and it's easy to extrapolate that AI will cause a declining GNP and a rising national debt which, in turn, could lead to the USG defaulting on its debt with all that entails. This is the dark side of AI
