NYC is a sanctuary city - plain and simple. And, illegal immigrates flock to sanctuary cities because they are protected, provided food and shelter, and many times cell phones. But the sanctuary cities can't provide them employment. These large metropolitan centers don't have any capacity to "employ" the people they attract with their "freebies". So now - it appears it should be the government's job to make life easier. Free stuff for all and, of course, tax the rich. Unfortunately, the really rich just pack up and leave. So the tax burdens fall to the working middle class employed in banking, Wall Street, etc. The problem is sanctuary cities and the rot it brings. There will never be sufficent employment to "fix" the problem and eventually the sanctuary cities will go bankrupt and die. It is coming........at an accelerating speed. There is no such thing as "free" - it requires payment by someone.

The illegals coming to sanctuary locales do not want employment, they want handouts.

The natural state of human beings is poverty. It’s a state of being where people live in mud huts, at the mercy of weather, hunting and gathering what they can find. So the question is not “how to eliminate poverty.” The challenge is to develop skills and create wealth.

Your solution, "The challenge is to develop skills and create wealth," is the nine word requirement for human progress.

Amazing neither political party has addressing that challenge as its foremost goal.

Amazing too that they also don't espouse much less practice fiscal discipline.

And our “president” is working overtime to destroy wealth here and abroad: jailing farm workers and home buildings, forcing all of us to pay artificially high prices to make his friends more wealthy (US Steel one thousands of examples), slaughtering 2 and maybe 8 million Palestinians, bombing Iran, etc.

Ed - you don't mean our "Peace" President, do you? You can't mean our "Balancing the Budget" President, can you? You must be mistaken and not our "Make America Great Again", hero? I am confused. Help me understand.

When writing, tone gets lost... sounds as if though you were agreeing with Ed.

Used to be a great place to live.

Now crappy little houses cost $1.5 million!

Sacramento is getting their wish...

They are irresponsibly building everywhere to ensure more revenue.

Propagating to low IQ folks there's a housing crisis.

Is there one in Martha's Vineyard, or only in California I wonder.

Sorry. No one would be killing anyone if the Hamas Palestenians and the Iranian government did not continue bombing and killing Israelis and Americans throughout the world. BTW, Trump has given his opinion of making the war torn area of Gaza the Riviera of the Middle East. Having Palestenians return to the Gaza Strip.

Inequality is neither a fakery nor a disease, It is the norm long recognised by the most of us with some sanity.

We are not born equal. We are not all endowed with an equal IQ, personality, physical power, health, nor privilege etc.

The socialist left has tried to instil the false narrative that we are born equal and that therefore an equal outcome should be the norm.

We should not tolerate that there be those with more wealth than others. The fact that there are those with greater capacity, work ethic and ambition are to be ignored and will never cross the mind of Bernie Sanders et al.

An abundance of Stupidity!! “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, but I’m not sure about the universe.” Albert Einstein

That the Democrats are still campaigning on the virtues of socialism in 2025 says it all. When will they get it in their thick skull… socialism can only work in a capitalist system - there is ‘nothing’ to socialise or take in a communist state.

The Great Society Acts of LBJ created poverty in America on a grand scale, ushering in the single mother and fatherless child. LBJ understood corruption must be fueled with money elicited through the emotion response disguised as righting wrongs (that did not exist) bring equality. The Great Society acts destroyed rational thinking in schools, supplanted individualism with groups and team thinking and problem solving. Large voter storage facilities (subsidized low income housing) brought union construction jobs, police, prisons, and all manner of needed ancillary spending. As we stand today the majority of the voters think turning the clock back would benefit their cause, but in reality most would lose their jobs as a result.

One of my early mentors used to say: "There is so much money in the system there is no excuse for being poor, unless it's your chosen profession".

He'd have agreed with Bill most all problems have been created by government, most are fake. The sad part, most people while complaining, would not have it any other way

Alright, buckle up, ‘cause this is gonna hit harder than a black helicopter crashing into your mom’s HOA meeting: If I had a single dirty dollar to my name, I’d teleport outta Be Torn faster than the CIA scrubs Epstein’s client list. There’s zero chance I’m paying one red cent to bankroll these thumb-sucking, dopamine-addled husks who think DoorDashing a third McFlurry counts as productivity. These bloated leeches are the human equivalent of mold spores, spreading hopelessness while sucking every drop of lifeblood outta the system. And we’re supposed to cheerfully fund it? GET REAL.

You wanna talk markets? The so-called “stock market” is a rotting corpse propped up on strings by globalist money necromancers. A Frankenstein asset bubble being kept alive with IV drips of zero-interest-rate crack. And here’s the cosmic cheat code, folks: the second you crank up your speakers and start reverently shouting President Trump’s name, The Financial Alpha Male, The Supreme Cosmic Gatekeeper to Infinite Prosperity, it’ll shatter the mind-control frequency beaming straight from Wall Street’s satanic trading floors. Under his God-tier leadership, reality itself bends; pigs sprout wings; and the Federal Reserve kneels like a dog begging for scraps.

So here’s what you do, patriots: crank that Trump-worship up to 11, keep your eyes pinned to the tickers for the next two weeks, cause the moment the surveillance algorithms hear us praising The King, the entire market’s gonna crater harder than Building 7 on freefall. Hahahaha. And remember: tomorrow’s opening bell will sound like the death knell of every delusion you’ve ever clung to, GET READY!

Descartes looks rather negative for shipping, Tom. Is that positive for the shipping companies? Or is it mostly noise that can't be understood economically?
