Another good write Bill. I agree with you and whoever the reader, PG V is, I think he needs to hold his breath a second or two. He's in for a ride.

Perhaps the long lines of Russian tanks pictured in the news are due to only one charging station in the country for the EV tanks.

I've been reading Bill's stuff for what seems like decades. This is one of the funniest lines I've ever read: "...line up like zeros behind the feds."

"And yes again in 2020; ‘shut down the economy or the Covid will kill us all.’"

Bill, you give them far too much credit! They were certainly far too stupid to even realize that the extreme Covid measures would have any negative effects on the economy.

Where did you get this information? Is it confirmed and fact-checked? This is the first time I've heard any of that. What you say about the Wuhan lab director, Fauci, Obama, Gates, etc. is possible. I don't put ANYTHING past the "elites." But, I'd like some confirmation.

Despite what the media says, I've always believed that Covid came out of that lab in Wuhan. The Chinese know more than they're telling, because they refuse to release ANY information . . . even when the World Health Organization sent a delegation to China.

The Chinese are terrified of Covid. Remember those scenes from the early days of it first showing up in Wuhan, where the Chinese army was welding the doors shut on apartment buildings to prevent the residents from leaving because they feared they might have been exposed? You don't do something like that unless you know what that virus is TRULY capable of. Everyone is letting their guard down because they think it's over. Covid ain't done with us, yet! I think the worst is yet to come, and the Chinese know it.

Without agreeing with everything said in response to Bill's latest essay on the horrific mess and loss of life in Ukraiine at the hands of an insane tyrannical madman I do support the detailed response accusing Bill of doing more than connecting the dots by his never answering the tough question....what is the alternative to the Russian invasion and subsequent loss of life? Or to be blunt and specific to Bill what would he have done since sending our troops into combat is not an option thanks to trumps anti u s involvement in forever wars....I guess that I answered these basic questions for Bill with his heading to his Argentine ranch and its inflationary economy. Would be nice if the average Ukranian had similar options then we could all not be bothered....except that our collective conscience would eat at us til our dying day that we did nothing to help those when they desperately needed help. I've been a B.B. follower for a few years. He is not only a genius, he is wise; he is wise NOT to enter into a fray and make pronouncements that, might, bite him in the butt. And, the jibe about the Argentine ranch. He is walking into what might be a dangerous mess; because he takes care of his own business. Usurpers are saying his ranch is actually theirs, [tribal rights] off a tribe that never existed.

Question, what affect will the sell off of MBS(mortgage back securities) have on long term rates or stock market. Supposedly the Fed will start to roll off these securities March 11. I’ve tried to get some insight or opinion in various searches. Just wondering if anyone has some expertise in this matter. If this is not a proper question for this venue, I apologize. Thank you

So, if I read you correctly, Bill, you think it's perfectly acceptable for Putin to invade Ukraine, shell and bomb civilian targets, slaughter children, send hundreds of assassins out to murder Volodymyr Zelenskyy, threaten to use nuclear weapons, and attempt to overthrow and destroy a peaceful democratic government but it's NOT acceptable for the U.S. and Europe to put sanctions on Russian banks, businesses and oligarchs because it hurts the Russian people and may affect your bottom line.

Obviously, you value money over human life. I've called you out on that, before, but this proves it beyond any doubt.

Let me see if I can put this in terms you may be able to understand . . .

The purpose of the sanctions is to cause unrest in Russia, with the hopes that either the Russian people will rise up and depose Putin, or his inner circle of sycophants will turn on him. Yes, that is accomplished by causing economic harm to the Russian people. SO WHAT?! They've had twenty years to get rid of Putin and have failed to do so. I remember when crowds of thousands of Russians were cheering Putin in the streets! They made their bed and climbed in it with Putin, let them sleep in it! Apparently, you would prefer the U.S. and NATO to start a "hot" war with Russia that would inevitably lead to a nuclear holocaust. But, that's okay! Your investments wouldn't have time to lose value before you were incinerated in an atomic blast. And, that's all that seems to matter to you -- to die atop the biggest pile of money, possible.

Money is your god. That's all you care about. Right and wrong, good and evil, life and death . . . None of that figures into Bill Bonners' calculations! If it can't be tallied up in dollars and cents (or ounces of gold) it simply doesn't matter . . . it's insignificant . . . not worth paying attention to. Yeah. We'll see how that works out or you. Some day you will die and I have a pretty good idea where you'll end up.

jeeeez uzz, Dale. You projected so much of your hatred for Bill into "if I read you correctly" well, I can tell you -it's all your sh*t. Pay attention: Bill

is rightfully concerned that 'without due process' people's possessions have been stolen. And, our one trick pony -sanctions may be a debacle of the highest order.

Expand full comment

I don't hate Bill. Like him quite a lot, actually. And, I do understand what he's saying about people's possessions being stolen "without due process." But, that's nothing new. Governments have been doing it to us "little people" since time immemorial. Bill's getting bent out of shape because it's being done to rich people, like him.

I also understand that the sanctions may not work. They probably won't. Putin's gonna' do whatever he wants unless someone takes Lindsey Graham's advice and caps his ass.

What you and Bill, both, don't seem to grasp is that SOMETHING needs to be done. Putin's threats to use nuclear weapons severely limits our options in that regard. That pretty much leaves sanctions -- as tough as we can make them -- as our "one trick pony," to use your terminology.

Bill wants to take the lofty isolationist position to stand back, sip our wine, and do nothing, while watching Putin destroy a peaceful democracy and slaughter the Ukrainian population. I suggest that both of you read John Donne's poem, "No Man Is An Island."

Expand full comment

My mistake. Actually, the poem is Donne's "Meditation 17." The "No Man Is An Island" is simply the most famous quote, and the first line, from it.

China might be feeling as the biggest victim outside US of thinking Dollar as non-zero for decades. Russia could the biggest loser to new Energy transition but still have valueble time left before the transition and Russia could be the biggest loser of wasting its old military power from decades. US might have made maximum out of Dollar, maximum usage of military power for decades and gearing towards New energy market dominance too. Taiwan might play a major role during new Energy transition in coming decades. China may be feeling that World is not ready to listen to their pain that Paper is not money. How can China deal with this barbaric behavior of the democratic World? Looks like situation of China and Russia are perfectly aligned to educate the barbaric world that Paper is not money. Ukraine seems to be the biggest victim now of the situation between the two declining Empires and one upcoming Empire. It may not be too late still probably the only way out for them is they should use this situation to fight with NATO World democratically to restore TRUST in MONEY. China may ask Russia to cool down if this happens. When MONEY goes, everything goes as Bill says. TRUST in MONEY is gone decades back, so talking democracy, morality, humanity etc. now will just take out more lives.

A Russian businessman -- Alex Kynonykin (not sure of the spelling) -- has put a $1 million bounty on Putin's head "Wanted Dead or Alive." He is offering the money to Russian generals if they arrest and jail Putin for his crimes. He goes on to state that Putin is not the lawful president of Russia since he came to power as a result of the plot of blowing up apartment buildings and blaming it on Chechen rebels, and because Putin has cancelled free elections in Russia and has murdered and jailed his political opponents.

His post was taken down shortly after he posted it. BUT, AT LEAST HE POSTED IT!
