To really drive in Texas is to drive in Texas is to go from Boamont to El Paso or El Derado to Corpus. Stay out of Chuckies and enjoy the small places. I like I10 to 71 except for the last few miles in to Austin. There are a few places to eat in Austin, but Round Rock is better. Austin is bad.
Agreed, the smaller country roads are far nicer than the gargantuan interstate (which is functional and a blessing for trucking, I guess). I recall driving into El Paso years ago on one such winding road and seeing, from elevation, the border with Mexico. It looked as though Mexico had collided with the American border at high speed. The Dems are creating a Covid style lock down directed towards oil and NG production. When Americans can no longer afford what made us fat, lazy and uninterested in reigning government the backlash will be violent and detrimental to the peace in America.
