The Lockdown Diaries
In March of 2020, Bill and Elizabeth Bonner found themselves stranded at their remote ranch in Argentina. From Brisbane to Buenos Aires, air travel around much of the world was grounded due to the Covid-19 virus. Argentina itself had some of the most draconian Covid restrictions in the world.
As a result, Bill and Elizabeth had a unique perspective on the world for the next nine months. Life on the ranch went on day by day, with chores, responsibilities, and time to think and write. All over the rest of the world—especially in economics—madness ensued.
High and dry in the rarefied mountain air (except for a plentiful supply of the local Malbec), Bill and Elizabeth were able to chronicle the unprecedented political and economic events taking place all over the world.The essays and observations published in that time were some of the most well-liked Bill’s ever written.
Late last year, we began a project to edit those essays—along with those from Bill’s wife Elizabeth—into one volume. We’ve added pictures from the ranch, too. Thanks for your interesting and human report on your prolonged stay in Argentina. You are such a nice couple giving so much of old fashioned experiences to me and many other old timers. Life can be so interesting with everyday new experiences if only one wants to see them. Enjoy and be happy.
Covid or the Scamdemic changed the world forever.
I've been taking an unofficial pole among my 3000 business customers. This group includes a few hundred landlords giving me further access to some of their tenants. It seems about 80% of those vaccinated have contracted Covid with those boosted contracting Covid more than once. I've yet to take Joe Biden's advice and get vaccinated, and I believe doing so might in fact have been a better vaccine in that I've not only skipped Covid but all strains of the flue. 10% won't say either way, I'd say they don't want to admit to being fooled. The other 10% claim they have not been so vaccinated.
This is possible, I can remember the general hassle and harassment for not taking the shot. Business was unaffected, when the heating or cooling is on the fritz, people would risk the Bubonic Plague instead of being uncomfortable.
