The corruption of our government truly knows no limit. In many ways it is worse than the CCP or the Russian government. What is the basis for such a claim? Neither the Chinese nor Russian governments are actively trying to destroy their nations. Yes they oppress their people and deny them freedom and opportunity, a condition currently worse than what exists in the United States, but they are not trying to weaken their countries to the point where they are increasingly vulnerable to attack or overthrow. They are not letting millions of unknown and illegal persons cross their borders. They are not releasing thousands of criminals convicted of violent crimes back onto their own streets. They are not deliberately destroying their industrial bases and energy infrastructure. They are not teaching their children that they can determine their own gender. They are not pursuing policies that deliberately create shortages and cause hyperinflation. This is a partial list. In other words, they are not “deliberately” sawing off the limb they are sitting on. The use of the word deliberate here is an arguable term and certainly many of the policies of the CCP and Russian governments have and will lead to disastrous outcomes, but there is a difference worth noting here.

The US government is arguably the most despotic and worst in the world.

Sigh. I have a reaction and a lot of thoughts on what you wrote. But what is the point? But I can't refrain. Before Congress or the US president signs any major legislation over $100 million (pulled out of my butt - choose a different threshold) we need James Earl Jones to read Dylan Thomas' "The hand that signed the Paper" as part of the signing ceremony. It might cause some pause every once in a while! It's our own fault for electing these people into office. But I have to go deeper and say, "don't hate the players; hate the game." The game of national/global politics has evolved to become a parasite on the human species and by default on the entire Earth.

It is everyone's fault who ever voted for the same politicians over and over and over and over and over and over..................................................................................... again.

The Founding Father's lived during a time when senators and congressmen went to Washington for a term or two, but most had farms they had to get back home to. It was never the intention for an elected official to run consecutively for 10, 20, 30, cripes even 50 years! Joe was 27 when Delaware first elected him as senator, and he is now 80 years old! Thanks a lot Delaware. Same with San Francisco w/ Pelosi, New York with Schumer, Kentucky w/McConnell and where I am, Washington State with Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell.

Put all these fatten cows, from our money, out to pasture. Elect fresh blood, but not from the Marxist crowd. After two terms send them back home and elect new middle-class workers, ones who understand what real work and bill paying is like.

Is there anyone who reads your essays AND knows a member of Congress who might be able to get this column read into the Congressional Record? At least the part about the disclosures that a business would have to file if this were a private investment offering?

This was priceless and should be spread far and wide for all to consider.

History of our country is amazing. Future trajectory is uncertain. Missives like this - if consumed to this purpose - provide context that point to remedies. Even a lone flashlight in the darkness transforms the world we can see without it. I’m 19th generation American and will continue to do all I can to pave a way for 19 more. A good read penned with conviction to pass on to others around me is a mighty help! Happy subscriber. DBS

When none of the fake revenue/CO2 metrics are met the media will surely be writing the same mantra they used so often during the Obama years.....It could have been worse!

What a day, Bill. You just proved me correct! They never get it right. They will never relent in their pursuit to prove that they can do this better than the Creator. No wonder He looks at us in Isaiah and says we are grasshoppers. What are we to do but let them make fools of themselves as usual. Only it costs us, the taxpayers, our wealth for their foolish follies. Most of our adversaries say, "let's get into a war with these guys so that when it is over, they will make us rich." Just sayin'

Just reading Steven Ambrose’s “Nothing Like it in the World.” The government invested in the intercontinental railway. I would say that was successful.

Ok Bill, we all know what is happening in our once great nation, but we refuse to do anything about it.

Let's just relax now, sit back and enjoy the show....for the show MUST go on!

Meanwhile, can you try to find out what woke companies are going to receive the hundreds of billions of dollars Biden's new 87,000 IRS leech's will suck from our good hardworking middle class? The initial investments will create extreme wealth for our honest politicians, so maybe we can ride their coattails, and make a few crumbs...before those companies become Enroned...
