The loss of Massie would be a shame... but then, what can one man do against a pack of fools...
it does seem that catastrophe stalks us... the government has grown so large that it acts like a black hole sucking everything in within its grasp... and the private economy becomes weaker and weaker.
A collapsed government, like the one pending, will be forced to reverse its policies. There are so many positive, growth-producing policies and projects that can be adopted. Trump's support of the Gaza slaughterhouse is universally condemned. Despite his natural obtuseness, even he can adapt: e.g., his brilliant "universally embraced" summit tomorrow is an example. If he continues his dead-end, economy-burying tariff policies, Massie and Paul will be viewed as credible saviors by the next election. A lot can change in 14 months.
The quote at the top says it all. The ultimate conclusion is…we will pay a price.
After reading “The Lords of Easy Money” it is not hard to understand that the series of financial distress and the monetary policies that pushed the problem down the road will lead to one last gigantic financial crash.
I can understand why Bonner says, “hold cash;” all assets will crash, there will, for a period, be no buyers and sellers will accept anything.
In the addendum to “Screwtape Letters” Lewis says that the modern soul will be so insipid and stupid that it will be unable to be good or evil, just sheep led to the slaughter.
Every year, some, stocks are up over 100%, even in a crash. You can get wide eyes and switching fever and find all you received was losses. It’s like card counting, or at least it was before computer trading, you can make money if your good; you have to be damn good and it’s all consuming; you need a rare intelligence and a very open mind and you have to be fast on your feet because you have to bet a lot to make a lot.
It’s a form of gambling and addictive; most big name investors that wrote books, experienced bankruptcies a time or two including Keynes and Newton.
Good luck in the sunshine; “You got to know when to hold them and when to fold them.”
“The Lords of Easy Money” was excellent. It was written by Christopher Leonard.
Easy money changed the American economy, funneled money into hedge funds and private equity; they bought everything compounding easy money with debt, made manufacturing debt servicers to feed the rats; they closed down jobs, decimated businesses.
When you find a vein of gold, in the drivel, you follow it; I am now reading Leonard’s “The Meat Racquet. It is very alarming, very good; seminal books like “The Power Elite.” Such books are what Stephen Covey would call a paradigm shift. Paradigm shifts are necessary enlightenment, the a ha moment of salvation, the new mindset that saves the day.
Leonard books are easy to listen to, very straightforward. Usually I have to read.
Bill, Massie is antisemitic piece of crap and so are you.. but we all know that.. same sold tired antisemitic tropes. We Jews control the banks, the government except you Bill. You’re the solution to the Jews as anti-Christ. Newsflash Bill.. Political action committees have been controlling US politics for many years now.. but you just happen to pick AIPAC as the villain.. ever consider you’re the villain? I do. Cheers.. Keep doing what you do best. Blaming the Jews for anything that suits your fancy. Never Again is not just a slogan. Am Yisrael Chai. If it wasn’t for the other two guys who keep hatred of Jews out of their analysis I would have cancelled your subscription years ago. It must wear on you using the same old tired hatred of Jews.
Your inability to tolerate different views and even your neighbors will inevitably fuel up another century (millennia?) of distrust that we hoped was erased in 1945.
Really? While I always hesitate to call anyone "antisemitic", Bill is definitely anti-Israel. If you've been paying attention over the last two years, there are at least a hundred examples. It is true that recently Bill has been writing about other things, but when he does mention Israel it is always negative.
Can't disagree with you ont his one, Bill. But there are lots of things that aren't considered, lots more than the few you mentioned. Some of those ideas are that some of the richest people in America get that way by not informing others what they know. An example is provided of Google which limits Alternative health advice to those entities using their advertising as described in this article:
Your ideas should probably add this as the final idea. BUT what economic system has provided the "best", richest, or "best" standard of living or the "most" freedom of speech or the "least" government interference in personal lives or the right to own property or the right to pursue personal happiness or the "best" system of justice? Obviously there are lots of personal judgements in answering these questions but I personally think it is the US. I have lived in Europe for 4 years and also live on the border of Canada and have experience there. Judging from how many immigrants are entering the US or are Canadians working in the US. My judgement is I prefer to live in the US. It seems you have listed a few judgements but it also seems you have left out thousands of judgements.
Like what You say . Picking the best of the worst. Just My opinion of coarse. We live where We think is best for us and We who can not "move" are here to stay . Till death do us part.
The country's "Illegal" immigrant population may have dropped by roughly two million people in the first six months of the year, according to new government data.
Yup. Mr Bonner, as well as the leftwingnuts and RINO’s here, just can’t seem to grasp the “illegal” part…no matter how clearly or plainly it is spelled out for them.
Exactly, but Mr Bill is so focused on losing his gardener and maid that he can’t recognize that President Trump is completely reshaping the World Order. Or, if he does recognize it, he absolutely hates what is being accomplished and the final goal. Bill loves the world just as it is, thank you very much!
I used to think Powell's hesitancy was political. BUT if inflation is rearing it's ugly head as the PPI is showing what would have happened if they lowered rates earlier? Would inflation be as bad as it was under biden? Perhaps. All I know is I will deal with what comes and gold doesn't tarnish so be prepared.
Trump's (and every other president's) anxiety and pressure in advocating for a lower rate is 100% political: it's a quick-fix drug that, in the end, leads to bad consequences. Why not implement economic policies that will produce jobs, growth and long-term prosperity (as China is doing inside China and all over the world providing anyone willing to listen a 45-year on-going example, even though its task, even today, is much more difficult than ours: 500,000,000 citizens still below the poverty level in China and $2 average wage in Africa that China intends to double in 10-years BY AVOIDING US/TRUMP-STYLE GIMMICKS and creating REAL wealth.
A person cannot wait for history. A person will be part of it, ignore it, or make it.
Additionally, All those big beautiful sites in Paris or Venice were a result of the big man.... and government opulence and overspending. Talk about not understanding history...
Bill hits the bullseye with the comments on the MIC. Here is an exerpt from President Eisenhower's "Iron Cross" speech. Too bad this isn't taught in our schools. If a politician today gave that speech he or she would be categorized as a delusional wack job.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone.
It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.
The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities.
It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population.
It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete highway.
We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat."
Wisdom? History? What are they worth if we don't use them to better our future? Time to switch to the History Channel and learn from our past mistakes which we seem to have long forgotten. Our future certainly depends on it.
What we are missing Mr. Bonner is that the real economy ain’t the fireworks we see, it’s the quiet stuff that never makes the headlines. Every tank, every missile, every “strong economy” press release is built on resources yanked outta the public’s pocket, our towns, our future. We don’t see the bridges that weren’t fixed, the teachers that weren’t hired, the medicine that wasn’t researched because the current Admin is too busy pumping fake money into defense contracts that function like a political slush fund. Social Security raided under the table while they tell us they’re “reforming it.” You think they’re protecting your retirement? They’re stripping the wiring out of the house while we’re still living in it!
The stock market’s like a stage magician’s flourish, gets your eyes looking at the shiny cards while they pick our wallet clean. Meanwhile, we’ve got record tariffs that don’t even make a dent in the debt, labor force participation quietly shrinking, and social safety nets fraying while we’re told it’s all under control. It’s like being told your roof’s fine because the bucket in the kitchen isn’t full yet. And here’s the kicker, this administration’s so obsessed with short-term wins and photo ops, they’re treating Social Security like a bar tab they can just push off until someone else is stuck with it. Problem is, by the time that check comes due, the rest of us are gonna be eating cat food out of patriotic-themed cans.
Egypt, I like your writing style but not necessarily your points. Where were you writing for the past 4 years and then when obummer was in charge and the SS trust fund was going to heck? You think trump is treating it like a bar tab? how about the previous yahoos that were in charge or at least being a figurehead (still trying to find out who was in charge). Seriously???
True, And while he was in Scottland he finalized the EU trade agreement. Hopefully he will make some progress with the Ukraine war this weekend in Alaska. And compared to mr. biden (he doesn't deserve caps) who lived in his basement and the ice cream shop (oh wait he did go to china where hunter made some deals) President Trump is active in many things. If he could control his mouth I would be happier though. Insults are not needed from the president unless it is toward chuckie and nancy and schiff.
Well I am not sure that the agreement was finalized, but it was agreed to. If I remember that there are no signatures on any paper. Verbal does count some what , but the final details are what is to count in My way of looking at this matter.
It was no consolation to the people on the Titanic that they didn't know their forthcoming fate. However, US citizens now can't claim ignorance of our fate, especially politicians (irregardless of their party affiliation). Without current and future budgets being balanced {required by law) and a plan to reduce our debt (also by law) our fate is guaranteed. Hell On Earth!! The question is, what degree of hell will each of us experience based on one's preparation?
Perhaps there might be that ‘alternate universe’ showing us what happened where all ‘other’ choices were made. If someone could just find the remote so we could watch which choices were the ‘right’ choices.
Yes brother. Years ago, an artist asked 100 people to write down what they thought they saw in his painting on the wall. Each of them had very different interpretations based on their own perspectives. The artist was perplexed by their varied responses, as they contrasted sharply with his own vision of the artwork. What we see is influenced by our desires and experiences. Perception is reality for each individual, shaped by the unique paths we’ve taken in life and each individual experience.🤔
Indeed.... Perception... That's one reason why the US military still employs actual "combat artists." Yes, real-live artists. Okay, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines with artistic talent... Trained to the same standards as other combatants, but they also carry... I mean this... sketch tablets, ink pens, pencils, charcoal, even paints. Sure, they might carry cameras, too... But there's an institutional recognition that not all imagery can be captured by a photo or video. There's something about a human eye-brain processing system that brings out a unique, handmade portrayal of a particular event. Walls of the Pentagon and many military museums are adorned w combat art from wars going back 160 yrs... Some of the recent stuff is astonishingly good... Iraq, Afghanistan, various other operations... Truly talented people pursuing their metier. If you get a chance... Pentagon tour; Museum of Marine Corps at Quantico; Navy Museum at Navy Yard, Washington; AF Museum, Dayton; Army Infantry Museum, Fort Benning, Georgia: many more...
Yes Bryon, the unimaginably unique gift of being human lies in our remarkable ability to perceive the world in ways that can be both beautiful and ugly, regardless of reality. This capacity for interpretation allows us to find meaning, appreciate art, and connect with one another on profound levels, shaping our experiences and emotions in the process. Perceptions 🤔. Looking forward to heading back to DC after it’s transformed back into our Nations Capital, instead of the Third World Disaster it has become under democratic lack of leadership.
Retired form the Army after 23 years and never saw a combat artist at work. Maybe after the fact and looking at photos but who am I to doubt you. Better draw fast when the bullets are flying. Lots of artwork from recent wars but no idea where they got the inspiration for the paintings.
Oh, I've met many... From my days in a particular Navy unit (Navy Combat Documentation Detachment 105)... that performed post-event field assessments of "things that happened" for data gathering purposes. And no, the combat artists don't sketch things while the war rages. More like they go out and participate in operations, and return to whatever passes for home base to put pen to paper. Usually, the artist has photos, but also makes sketches, records impressions (personal and from others), takes all sorts of notes, grabs samples of things (to get the colors right, eg), and whatever else... Then it might be weeks or months before the finished drawing or painting shows up.
The increase in debt is flexible depending on our eyesight? Tariffs aren’t a regressive tax on Americans and will make the US competitive in the end, when every country to try this stupidity has only had its productivity spiral downward? Just our eyesight? Competition doesn’t work anymore? The 2017 steel tariffs increased prices on virtually everything in the US and allowed China to dominate the world market. Next to fall will be US car manufacturers. The only beneficiary was US Steel.
Hey Angry. Boy do you have that right. I can not find anyone who is willing to tell the nation what that pain will look like. I guess nobody wants to scare the hell out of people as they would be most unpopular. (Truth can be scary) I could go on all day but I just wanted you to know I am on your side. God's blessings to all.
Fully agree and it will be the politicians that follow Trump that will benefit from all this redoing of the industrial base. The difficult decisions are now and it is a good thing President can't run for reelection as he can make those hard choices.
I'm not saying other country leaders aren't also stupid! Every politician wants to use quick-fixes to satisfy their powerful, rich and monopolistic friends who put them into power! The politicians who can resist their sweet siren calls are the ones who bring wealth to everyone. The free-enterprise system created by our Founding Fathers and copied by China in 1979 are 2 examples for all to witness and duplicate.
Quick fixes like tariffs and unrealistically low interest rates provide nothing but artificial highs. Would you loan money at the rate Trump is demanding?Of course, what really needs to happen here is to eliminate the Fed, but that's another topic.
You have 2 things upside down: "Globalists"? Do you mean people in other countries who want to raise the standard of living of their population to our level or the warmongers in the Pentagon and their corporate suppliers and lobbyists? The movement of manufacturing to China was caused by the desire of its people to live like us by studying and working harder using (sometimes stealing) our ideas and improving them. Trump foolishly chooses to continue our history of attacking them instead of learning from them.
"Hardship"? How about making the actual beneficiaries (i.e., corporations, insiders, politicians), who have (since 1945) and continue to virtually "eat the (entire) cake", endure the same hardship as the rest of us. Wages haven't increased since 1973 thanks to Johnson's and Nixon's betrayal of our nation's promises in Bretton Woods and now we're supposed to pay the $37 trillion debt that has resulted from trying to tell (force) every country's leadership to pander to our dogmatic and militaristic demands?
By handing over control of our government to the worst corporations in human history and our warmongering political and military leaders so they could slaughter 22 million foreigners and maintain the rest of the world's population under control.
Mr. Uehling.... my definition of globalists are folks that insist we MUST trade out of the U.S. for our own betterment, or we will lose out to the rest of the world.
From my armchair it seems the "trading" is the root cause of U.S. debt.
We are well on our way to lose precisely because of globalization.
Envious nations would likely enjoy witnessing the U.S. implode.
-
Corporate decisions to off-shore were made because the labor rate is cheap.
Our culpable government jumped aboard, instead of protecting sensitive industries.
The "off-shore" parade outsourced arms, infra structure, ships, REE's, etc... it was "all the rage".
China is a socialist/communist nation, they subsidize industries.
Pretending to do business with them is actually trade dilution...
-
Everyone squealing about Trump tariff's... "why is it OK for other nations to tariff and VAT the U.S.?
-
U.S. global elitist's parroting their motto;
"We are a service nation; we don't do no stinkin' dirty work"
You seem to convey it was the folks in other countries that spurred U.S. outsourcing... it was U.S. corporate greed Mr. Uehling.
You refer to handing control of our government to the worst corporations in history.
I don't recall any politico willingly surrendering authority to anyone.
Fully agree and it will be the politicians that follow Trump that will benefit from all this redoing of the industrial base. The difficult decisions are now and it is a good thing President can't run for reelection as he can make those hard choices.
It's pretty simple, yet not easy, at the same time. The right choices are those that agree with the facts of reality. Unfortunately, much of what many people believe have nothing to do with the fundamental facts of reality. Socialism, Communism, Fascism, or what I call the Progressive Fascist Nihilist Enviro-Nazi ideology are not based on a fundamental fact of reality. All these ideologies are wishful thinking on some people's part to promote an ideology they like, not what they have analyzed to be based on reality. My suggestion is to read Ayn Rand.
Ayn Rand saw the future through her own life experiences. She had the chess masters ability to know how governments operate and the problem, reaction-solutions that she wrote in her works. The “Enviro-Nazi ideology” is based on the fact that climate change is real, but on the lie that man has been the main responsibility for that change. It’s only about power and control. That is what globalist elites want, and nothing more. The truth always comes out in not what they say, but how they live.

It appears Powells hesitancy to lower interest rates is indeed political.
Please correct me if I am wrong....
Inflation = too much money relative to supply.
Lower interest rates = more investment = more supply.
And lower interest rates equals more debt as people borrow more. Higher rates people cut back and save more. Go figure.
Trump's (and every other president's) anxiety and pressure in advocating for a lower rate is 100% political: it's a quick-fix drug that, in the end, leads to bad consequences. Why not implement economic policies that will produce jobs, growth and long-term prosperity (as China is doing inside China and all over the world providing anyone willing to listen a 45-year on-going example, even though its task, even today, is much more difficult than ours: 500,000,000 citizens still below the poverty level in China and $2 average wage in Africa that China intends to double in 10-years BY AVOIDING US/TRUMP-STYLE GIMMICKS and creating REAL wealth.
...high interest rates stimmy the economy.
China subsidizes its industries and raw materials - it's called socialism.
Is that how you believe the U.S. ought to operate?
-
By allowing Trump-style gimmicks some expect the U.S. economy to triple in 10 years.
I don't know, is there any nation that actually projects a downgrade...?
He’s a china-loving leftarde that ignores the VERY bad facts coming out of the country for the past 6 months….
And finally, a day for no comments here from the Trump True Believers. US deficit grows to $291 billion in July= Winning.
... pro Trump Americans are rooting to win.
Unlike those that feel compelled to implode maintaining status quo.
-
Heaven forbid any of Trump's actions better Americans!
TDS folks doing their damnedest to impede any possible progress.
Choosing to wallow in their hatred for a clown politico.
So much so they actually enjoy propagating hopelessness.
-
How does America take on BRIC's without a fight?
How does America reshore without some shuffling?
Where was the panic when "globalists" ripped the guts out of American manufacturing?
-
Do we whine about the deficit?
Or revel in the growth of 3% annualized GDP which is poised to increase before the end of the year, and the next, and the next....
Bottom line, more honest and logical words have rarely been spoken by Mr Bill recently….. “It might be wise to wait for the rest of the story”.
Bill Bonner

If he could control his mouth I would be happier though. Insults are not needed from the president unless it is toward chuckie and nancy and schiff.
Well I am not sure that the agreement was finalized, but it was agreed to. If I remember that there are no signatures on any paper. Verbal does count some what , but the final details are what is to count in My way of looking at this matter.
I would agree.
Brilliant and absolutely correct.
Mr. Bonner's contention "we see what is" is incorrect.
"We see what we see"... everyone has a bias.
Optimist's and pessimist view the world through entirely different lenses.
"What you see depends on where you stand."
Famous line from the Analects of a certain Bill Bonner.
So the tariff's from other countries is just fine... right?
Seems it works for them, but not in America?
-
All sorts of manufacturers are reshoring.
You would have them not return?
-
Where were you in the 1990's when the globalist disemboweled U.S. manufacturing?
Americans ate cake for decades, paid for with accumulating debt.
Globalists destroyed U.S. production.
And you expect it to return without some hardship?
-
U.S. global elitist's parroting their motto;
It's more akin to honor amongst thieves.
Fully agree and it will be the politicians that follow Trump that will benefit from all this redoing of the industrial base. The difficult decisions are now and it is a good thing President can't run for reelection as he can make those hard choices.
he was filling his pockets so he can buy bolt holes in Ireland, Argentina, France etc. The man has really become full of feces.....
... I envy Mr Bonner, he is much more adventurous than I could ever be.
As Bill, I also seek satisfaction in work.
Unlike Bill, I loathe traveling...
The truth always comes out in not what they say, but how they live.
panem et circenses: "The people that once bestowed commands, consulships, legions, and all else, now concerns itself no more, and longs eagerly for just two things: bread and circuses!" Juvenal
"HEY." Will always be in demand.
