No situation is so grim... or so hopeless... that a determined leadership in Washington can’t make it worse. And since were looking for the ‘worst case’ scenarios, let’s look a little further.
Bill - once again you are spot-on! The euphoria that seems to now permeate the U.S. will be short lived. There is no place to run away or hide from the DEBT. And, amazingly, no one is talking about the debt - like it just doesn't exist. The good ol' USofA isn't little Argentina and Trump and Team aren't Millei. It is going to get UGLY sooner than ya'all think. Enjoy yourself until January 20th and then I would suggest you pull your head of out of your *** and smell the coffee. It is going to be a capital SUCK IT UP, BUTTERCUPS!
Well the Trumpstein and his Team do have one thing in common with Javier Mileikowsky (same last name as Bibi's family, before his father changed it) 98% of Trumpste8n's Admin. choices are all dyed in the wool Zionists. Javier also recently convertted to tthe Chabad - Lubavitchers brand of Hasidic Judaism !!
Bill, your tariff worst case scenario assumes all trading parties will be treated equally. That's not my understanding of how Trump plans to utilize tariffs. Yes, the tariffs will initially disrupt trade with the newly designated non-preferred partners. The slack will be picked up by the newly designated preferred partners along with the reshoring of manufacturing. Ask yourself this question: Can you have balanced trade when your partner/s utilize mercantilism? I think we all know the answer to that question and understand that perennial trade deficits are not sustainable. Just a little constructive criticism as I expect much more from you than the MSM talking heads.
It is so funny Bill, you are so worried about what Trump is going to do over the next 4 years, that you fail to look at the total lack of anything that you said about the last 4 years of Bidenomics. You keep trying to tell us that it is going to be more of the same, but I believe it will not be the same. You keep telling us that the President really doesn't have control of anything anyways, so what are you so worried about. If we are on some kind of path that you keep talking about, that we have no control of, then let DJT alone, put on your seatbelt and get ready for the ride with the rest of us.
We all read BPR and each other with a well-trained, careful skepticism. Bill recently named it; c-something. Keep it up.
That said, Bill's lifestyle is 99% more visible than any of ours. Dan's, Tom's, and Joel's, too.
I've learned as much by pondering their lifestyle choices as by reading their econo-political writings. Substantially more than I've learned by reading the comments - with all due respect, and best wishes for all of us.
I believe they will engineer a meltdown early in Trump’s second term if they can beat the organic meltdown to the doorknob, which is possible if done in 2025. I believe the oligarchs who control the money world are capable of doing this and the benefit of a planned crash is that they can install the internal protections for their personal wealth ahead of time, including lots of short selling. The purpose is of course to saddle the Republicans with a disaster and blame them for the fact that the disaster is ongoing in 2028, election year. This will be just part of the engineered chaos we could be facing soon. And to Bill’s point much of it is going to happen anyway. This much you can surely bet on: They don’t want the whole mess to come crashing down in January 2029 when a new Democratic regime may be taking power. They want to inherit a bottom, so the only direction is up and they can take credit for a budding or burgeoning recovery in the next term. This is mega politics.
Mr. Bonner has been cheerleading for a crash, maybe even a wipeout, for so long that it's hard to believe that he's not absolutely overjoyed that it could be here. After all, like as the hart desireth the water-brooks, so longeth his soul after reliable prices and real, market-driven costs. In the meantime, scare the bejeezus out of his "followers", lest they forget their dependency. Best always. PM
Apology accepted. Now My comment If Mr. Trump does not start to solve the insolvency immediately. Then there certainly is only one direction and Mr. B.B. will finally have his observations come to fruition. Although I do not think He really wants it , but He really has no say. Just as You and I have no say. Only observations. There are Just to many out of Our control "agencies" for a lack of a better word , that have to align. Not impossible , but can be done. As Liam says "faith". Faith in Whom?
You must read a different column than I do. He's been begging for a crash for years. This goes back to his "Crash Banner" or whatever the distress flag they used to run up the post back in the "Diary" days before he sold out to that dreadful Palm Beach bunch (Nomi Prins and Co.). Not only does he secretly covet The Crash to make his case, he, as a pundit for whose opinion people actually PAY, must be able to claim he is right in his predictions. His observations are pithy and droll, but there is cheaper entertainment available. No, he's in the boat; he either brings it to port or he drowns with it.
As to your contention that we're stuck either way, that is true, and since we all have been doing that since day one of our lives, there is nothing particularly new or revelatory about it. My personal wish is that everyone makes it out OK., myself included. Best always. PM
My read is Bill isn't hoping for a crash but he does think one is comin. Where it seems he is undermining Trump, maybe he is simply realistic. I love Trump and his team but that debt is insurmountable. Then again one must start somewhere.
I would not call it begging, but this has been His observation since I started reading his posts. As far as entertainment, that is not what I read articles for . I read to gain knowledge . As the saying goes there are 2 sides to the ledger. I do appreciate "your" observations as well as all others. Many are observations and many are in fact, facts.
Because it's my nature SE, I continue to have some doubt. It'd be absolutely fantastic if we all happen to be alive just when it all comes together in some sort of giant awakening, but a nagging suspicion remains. Certainly Trump seems to be some sort of force of nature, that comes along rarely. Although tbh he looked absolutely fried, as in exhausted, at some recent event I watched him at recently. Hardly surprising, but proving perhaps that he's human. However, to get to my point, I continue to think that the forces aligned against a magical transformation aren't going quietly into the night. Unless, of course they are, as they sometimes appear to be, nothing but money grubbing carpet baggers with more money than sense. Either way I'm stocking up on popcorn
The feds need a war and they need it now. This is another arrow in their anti trump quiver that will also benefit the 1% and the deep state. Why else release long range missiles to ukraine? Gotta stir that pot.
I enjoyed the ZH article very much and I'm encouraged after reading it. We always have elites. In the past couple of decades our elites have been unimpressive and evil. I am very hopeful for this new elite class.
I hope the ZH write-up is accurate, we MUST try something new. Keep a close eye on events. Depending on your District/State's elected Federal Representatives, emails and/or phone calls may need to become a regular thing to keep them inline and supporting the Mandate we have....
Well said, CP. For most of us, and for the BPR team, debt-free real estate means (or meant for us) move.
Also, plow up the lawn and plant a truck garden, some berries, maybe a fruit tree or two. Store up a few hundred cheap, compact pounds of rice, wheat, dry beans and vegetables, 50 lb of sea salt, sugar and/or honey, with PLENTY of healthy oils/fats and your favorite spices, - plus chocolate of course. Maybe some storable milk.
Keep it private in a cool, dark place (basement, bedroom closet or under the bed), stable temperature below 15 c (<50-60F) if possible, air-tight containers with liberal use of cheap-cheap little 1 litre oxygen absorbers (iron filings in tea bags, kinda).
I watched a very astute friend of mine this morning sealing canning jars of dehydrated foods with a hand-held, rechargeable vacuum device that he paid $40 for. We use mylar bags and seal them with the iron.
Oh, and lots of toilet paper!
Cheapest insurance in the world, and in a crisis, temporary job loss, or a strike, your belly is full - and you are invisible. Our family and friends have found that out during covid, and other hiccups over the years. Many of us still cook "from scratch", so our food storage, and oxygen absorbers, are being used continually, which saves big money on groceries and medical bills.
Well, that was long-winded. All the best to everyone, especially the 3 of you that read it.
THANKYOU Bill, Tom, Dan and Joel. As always your keen insight into money matters, which is why I read your articles, gives us all food for thought. A quote I remember....
"he who owns the debt rules the world". Bill you have seen this clearly the whole time, thank you! All the 'hidden men' pulling the puppeteers strings that none of us (me!) mere mortals have access to. But God sees all!
We've all seen the FOMO rampant in stocks, or we wouldn't be subscribed to BPR, to avoid the big loss. Of course it has been somewhat painful in that we see FOMO but wished we had taken part in it at this time. Especially if history rhymes with Smoot Hawley then I suspect Bill and Tom have nailed it.
My suspicion: We have no choice but to erect tariffs with China short term because the thieves won't stop stealing IP unless we put a boot on their neck. Will it be another Smoot Hawley? Probably but we came out of that and maybe a depression is just what America deserves and needs.
Trump is going to target the Chinese EV Auto industry in an attempt to avoid a 'BLOOD BATH', in the US auto industry. Canada has already imposed 100% tariffs on Chinese Autos.
p.s. nothing to do with political money - but.... Elon, Mark W., Mel G., Robert D.J and a couple of other holly wooders are forming a NON WOKe film corp. to make movies and bring back the classics, making movies great again!
My pleasure. Their latest flick - Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Spy, Assassin comes out in theaters over Thanksgiving. Looks like it will be another winner for the studio...
They don't matter when you have only $900 Billion in debt but we are at $36 Trillion. Dick Cheney is a RINO and a shill for the global elites like the bushes and obamas. To do the right thing do the opposite of the cheney's.
"A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon, you're talking real money." Attributed to Sen. Everett Dirksen (R) Illinois, Senate Minority Leader, 1959-1969
Almost seems incongruous today, a senator worried about overspending, especially one from Illinois, and a Republican from Illinois? Impossible! Best always. PM
Yeah, a Republican Neocon who along with Bush 2 basically destroyed the Republican Party. The Republican Party used to be the Corporate Party, now its the Labor and Peoples Party. The Democratic Party used to be the Labor and Peoples Party, and now they're the Corporate Party. The one constant in life is change. I guess the second is government swindling :-)
As American's we need to unite against globalism. I'd love to see the Democratic Party go through a transformation similar to what the Republican Party went through. This way we could pick our Nationalist from either party. They lost two great Nationalists this year; RFK Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard. They need to ditch the radical left; America's not ready and doesn't want that. I'd love to see the Democratic Party go back to what they used to be (i.e. my parent's Democratic Party).
We're not a one-size-must-fit-all like the communist dimocrat party. We enjoy many different opinions under our tent and, egads, are even allowed to publicly disagree and dislike each other. You won't ever see that in your Cult...
Should Trump be successful in eliminating various government agencies, stopping significantly wasteful financial outlays for wasteful projects, reducing or stopping payments for the bogus 'Climate Change' ruse, etc. These could save billions or maybe even trillions of dollars. That's sort of what Argentina did and that turned around the finanical situation there. Why would it not also be effective in the USA?

So there is those awkward facts.
So do we go to all CASH and precious metals before January 20 or after?
ED: Well…Cash may be iffy. Try Bitcoin but definitely precious metals. I don’t think I would wait until 1-20.
Bill, your tariff worst case scenario assumes all trading parties will be treated equally. That's not my understanding of how Trump plans to utilize tariffs.
