The Lockdowns turned out to be one crazy expensive vacation with all sorts of unintended consequences. Let's be honest; you need an economically illiterate populace to implement idiocy on such a grand scale. As the bill comes due it will be society's most vulnerable, the old and poor, who will disproportionately bear the pain. The same folks the Politico's claimed they were saving with the Lockdowns. There's a reason why you're instructed to put your oxygen mask on first before assisting others as your airplane goes down. Locking down the productive members of your society with lotto odds of dying from a virus was the height of stupidity. There's a reason why faith in government institutions has vanished and it's well deserved.
Sad to see hard working folks looking at their retirement accounts, trading accounts, bank accounts and thinking, this is gone long enough, the tides will soon turn and we will recoup our losses.
WRONG!
Like Bill says, this is only the tip of the iceberg, recovery time for losses, nobody knows, but I think it is safe to say...wait a minute...there is no such thing as “safe to say” 😂 probably like 10 years when the dust settles, if you get lucky!
In the meantime, try your best and listen to some Bee Gees.
Ooops, know you meant to say $10 now and going to $39 a MONTH, and not per WEEK. :-) We all can only hope that the entire economic thingy doesn't come crashing down as badly as you fear it might. This incredible amount of debt we have been living on must eventually be paid though. Has there been anything exactly like this before in the history of the world?
Really, how so? You didn't like $2.50 a gallon gas, 1.5% inflation, a legally closed Southern Border, peace and stability around the world (including peace deals in the Middle East) and a significantly higher labor participation rate? I'd take those things in a heartbeat right about now.
I always wonder about the "lost wealth". By example, I bought a house 3 years ago for $450K and was recently advised by the council that my property valuation had gone from $410K to $750K. If my property 'lost' 30% of its value, have I lost anything? Same sort of thing with shares, all the shares are valued at the last selling price, but the vast majority of shares were bought for something else, probably a lot less in a rising market. Just how much of the lost value in a falling market was actually paid in the first place? (Kiwi dollars)
I’m so confused (unfortunately a common state for me) about my subscription. Am I in or do I need to pay more? I definitely want to receive the whole thing.
Highly recommend you download the Substack app and access your BPR subscription there. It reads very easy, and you can always see easily if you’re receiving subscriber only (Paid) content or not. But as others have said, if you’ve paid already - you will keep the $100pa price tag. Only surprise with that price is that they haven’t said 4oz of silver per year instead. That way they will keep up in a big inflationary environment.
Florence, if you are a current subscriber, you are included in the lower subscription annual cost. If you subscribe after 7/8/22 you will paying the $39.00 monthly subscription fee. As long as you heet renewing your subscription you will continue to pay the lower initial subscription annual fee into perpetuity.
Bill has written so much of this day, it is like reading old news. Not to make is sound better, but folks who have read "Hormegeddon" and "The Death of Money" has a preview of what was coming. Still shocking as we have such poor leadership in our elected offices, what did we expect? We are so poorly served by those who are supposed to help guide the ship of state. Better we were on the Titanic, so we would know our fate!!! As Bill says, "hang on", going to be a rough ride!.
This isthe repeat of 1976-1980. It's scary how we are repeating that mistake, but the media doesn't pick up on it. Even Fox News never mentioned Carter and the Arab Oil embargo that destroyed our economy.
Bob, If you are interested you might read the book on Carter's reign by his chief of staff, he strived to represent the people.Nixon is the one who sold the American people out.

Thanks to Bill for helping make sense of a world that's in chaos. We need to start having more of his great knowledge and insights.
Where are John Galt and Dabney Taggert when we need them?

Wanted to switch from $10/month to $100/year. For whatever reason I was not able to do that. Could you please look into that.
Jonathan, it IS the plan!

Years ago I heard a brilliant analysis that has stayed with me, often repeated:
This is either one stupid mistake after another, or it's a plan.
This isthe repeat of 1976-1980. It's scary how we are repeating that mistake, but the media doesn't pick up on it. Even Fox News never mentioned Carter and the Arab Oil embargo that destroyed our economy.

OK, anything is possible with Sleepy Joe Biden. I think we will see a major oil crisis by the end of Sleep Joe's term.
Thanks for this Jonathan,it sums up my thoughts,I lean towards its a plan by he elite.
Go with the latter I'd say
