One of the first "revolutionary" acts that should occur in every community is to stop the nonsense of property tax increases every year.

Just because a home goes up in value should not mean the government receives more money.

In a sane society, the people should be required to approve any increase in government revenues. Nothing should be automatic.

However, every community in the nation appears to willing accept this theft without question.

And now the IRS is flooding the zone with “Pay Up!” letters. Anybody else get one this year? They claim they didn’t receive the 1099R from Fidelity that shows my tax withholding that Fidelity forwards to them EVERY YEAR on my behalf. Result is according to the IRS I owe them an additional $26K when the facts are they owe me $6K. So far they have ignore my amended return which includes a paper copy of the 1099R(which they requested). They just sent me a second nasty-gram saying they may take the money out of my bank account. This has taken many hours of my time since April. Is this a foreshadowing of a totalitarian state?

In a 1977 interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw, Zahir Muhsein, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, made a controversial statement. He said, "The Palestinian people do not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity"

https://stanfordreview.org/deception-palestinian-nationalism/

So the elimination of Israel, like the elimination of the Christian Crusader kingdoms of the middle ages, is the objective. "From the River to the Sea." Support this objective, if you like, but don't imagine that you're taking a humanitarian stance by backing the equivalent of parricides who are demanding mercy because now they are orphans.

Please justify your repeated anti-Israel rhetoric, Bill. The Koran says that land is the Israelites' "homeland." Here is some relevant history: "With the establishment of the British Mandate of Palestine after World War I, the first British census of Palestine in 1922 enumerated a total population of about 750,000, of which 78 percent were Muslim, 11 percent Jewish and 10 percent Christian (Table 1). Nearly 25 years later, before the United Nations’ partition of the Mandate for Palestine, in 1947, the population had grown to nearly 1.8 million, with 60 percent Muslim, 31 percent Jewish and 8 percent Christian." So the trend was already towards the Jews in 1948, and are there not enough Muslim countries in the world, Bill? Maybe you should read Douglas Murray's book The Strange Death of Europe. Since you love Europe so much, as do I, please inform yourself of its current, culture-ending patterns. Do explain why the Jews, 6 million of whom were killed during WW2, don't have a right to call "Judea" their land, and please stop misusing quotation marks. Your editor keeps putting single quotation marks where they should be double. You are Old School, so please use facts instead of snide remarks and bad punctuation. --Heather Chase

Everything makes perfect sense if you just change your premise; Government serves itself not you. The Statist votes on the basis of rhetoric and symbolism rather than using their mind. We live in a society chock full of Statists. If the Statists would just use their God given logic and deductive reasoning abilities they'd quickly come to the realization that Government is not their friend. Once a society turns its back on their Government its game over for Politicos in charge. No one should be surprised by a Politicos actions, after all they're just simple miscreants. The Tribalists enabling these miscreants are the real problem and the reason America is circling the drain. Nothing will change for the better until the Tribalists ditch the rhetoric and symbolism and embrace common sense.

PS - I feel the need to add an edit: I don't believe that Israel has been a friend to America in EVERY situation, nor are they always a friend to our Freedoms. Having said that - I further believe they don't need our foreign "aid" $$ and are completely justified in completely removing the threats to their very existence that are all around them now, and have always been all around them. October 7th should have been a wake-up call to the world what the islamic "faith" is truly all about. I would not argue that idea to some extent. Similar to our current s-hole, the "government" does NOT represent the will or best interest of its citizens in either Country. An "enemy" is always required to when controlling populations - if you don't have a real one, Tyranny dictates that the scumbags "in charge" make one up or prod some group into the role. However, individuals were brutalized, tortured and/or murdered by other individuals on October 07.

Personal Responsibility for the perpetrators and those who support/enable them must come into the equation at some point IMO, Petra...

What a mess. There will never be a peaceful resolution and both sides position hardens by the day. A two-state solution is impossible, as is the possibility that an Israel that includes the - fast growing - populations of the West Bank and Gaza can ever be a parliamentary democracy, because Jews will be a minority in no time flat So the two options left open to Israel are, in my opinion, the elimination, by exodus, or extermination, by genocide, of all the Palestinians. While the Palestinians are probably relying on continued Arab pressure eventually making Israel a place that only extremists want to belong in. Emigration data goes some way to indicating that this scenario is already happening, although numbers are hard to verify. I'm in neither camp btw, having spent time on a Kibbutz as a (very) young man, having read every one of Leon Uris's books, been an admirer of Moshe Dyan, Golda Meir and later on Yitzhak Rabin, but now feel extremely uneasy about the current direction they seem to be heading. Bill, As you observe the many ways the elites exploit us, I find missing from your calculus the avaricious and competitive disposition all humans possess.

Likely a survival instinct. Even in this age of relative plenty for many, these two elements of our human disposition forever metastasize into war.

Someone, whether individual, tribe or country, always wants what others possess.

Examples today abound: Putin wanting land occupied by Ukraine; Palestinians wanting land occupied by Israelis; China wanting land it asserts have always been Chinese, etc.

Our history is one of continuous wars. Our future is forever wars. And so will be sword-making.
