Excellent Bill and Joel! It appears the EU, WEF and US political leaders just want to maintain their political positions. If the NYT actually studied the financial position of the US they would see these obvious facts. Instead they have hired fool reporters who drum up the emotion card, based upon the narrative which apparently elected these jokers. They are obviously in the same conspiracy group. The only problem is that they are taking it to a point where it isn't funny or sensible to anyone who has studied a little bit.
I guess that's the problem with politics. It isn't about truth. It's about what you can get away with at least from these jokers.
Speaking of "gratuitous", placing the words "for the first time" after the words "the US national debt surpassed $33 trillion" is about as gratuitous as you can get.
If only that train was filled with Congressional & Senatorial geriatrics & yes folks, being Oh! So! Politically Correct.
( Subliminal sounds of the 1812 overture swim through my head, as if played by the Pied Piper of Hamelin for having been defrauded by governance officials for ridding their city of rats, also ...)
I'll take the "Low Dudgeon" Challenge! I'm going to interject a cavil here about Bill's mock outrage over "high dudgeon" and "gratuitous insults". Anyone who has ever attended a cocktail party has slung more "gratuitous compliments" than he or she ever anticipated. Anyone who has never armed himself with a quiver teeming with "gratuitous compliments" has never been dependent upon others for social support or earning a living. In fact, Bill Bonner is the King of the Gratuitous Compliment; he often addresses his audience with "Dear Reader". Just how "dear" are we? Best always. PM
"One wonders how many more blank checks Uncle Sam can write to countries afar…"
No Wonder, No Mystery, No Question. The answer is ZERO.
Not like that fact will even slow down the Traitors in charge that are intent on ruining our Country and our Citizens, while the screen-strung-out sheep bleat on...
Much of what Bill declares is sound. But far from all.
We part company when he fails to explain how the US tasked a former US Ambassador to Russia (a Russian speaker) to meet secretly with Putin to persuade him not to invade Ukraine.
Bill and I are also not on the same page when he neglects to mention Putin's megalomania; Putin's belief that Ukraine belongs to Russia; that many refugees fleeing to Russia were forcibly removed from Ukraine; that Putin invaded Ukraine a decade ago and seized its territory -- the Crimea -- on or about the same time
No wonder Ukraine wants to join NATO. Yet, despite it's appeals, it's still not member
Also, I didn't care for Bill's heartless comparison that the 500,000 dead due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine a year ago is trivial considering that many Soviets and Nazis died in ten days fighting each other when the latter invaded the former (after both dismembered Poland)
Better for all had Russia let its flag follow trade
And isn’t the Fed now losing $100B per annum? What must we think when the money printer is losing money, when it must steal from the Treasury to shore itself up?
I wonder if the present government of Ukraine really thought things through before they got into this war. Maybe they did, but just had to go along with their backers. Things don`t look too good for that unhappy country long term. here` s why:
The Director of the Institute of Demography and Social Research in Ukraine , Ella Libanova stated that if women of reproductive age who emigrated from Ukraine did not come back, the country would face the threat of extinction . “If we can't bring those women back, it will be a major problem,” says Libanova. She says demographers are predicting "the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) will fall as low as 0.71 in 2023-24, the lowest ever recorded in the world." “I think we are in a situation where Ukraine's population might be in a death spiral,” she says. "Even if victory is achieved, the birth rate will not recover. If you had asked me about the crisis before the war, I’d have said it was deaths surpassing births. Now it’s migration and natality.”
Mr. Hadley, I have no idea why you would think I'm a lefty just because I'm not a champion of territorial theft. After all, every religion prohibits theft. It's even one of the Ten Commandments.
Since you imply that you are a student of the matter, then tell us when Russia stole the Crimea from the Tartar's. Tell us too the name of the part of Siberia in which the Russians parked most of them.
But let's not find fault with just Russia. Tell us when China seized Tibet. For bonus points, tell us the name of the US president who removed by force American Indians from their ancestral lands in the south and parked them in Oklahoma
Their trek, known as the Trail of Tears, occurred barely fifty years after the Declaration of Independence was signed proclaiming All Men Are Created Equal. Those lofty words didn't save the 15,000 Cherokees who died while en route
"[Russia] says it has done so (invaded Ukraine) partly because that is where the people live whom it wants to protect."
Which is why they are razing the schools, nurseries, hospitals and apartment blocks, and bombing the roads and the largest dam. Funny way to protect people.
While it may not be wise to invade Russia, everyone seems to forget WWI when the Germans annihilated the Russians and eventually ended up with the Treaty of Brest-Litovska which gave the Germans control from Estonia all the way through most of the Ukraine. This was enacted as the Germans were fighting a two front war.
Hitler's vision was always east. He was not interested in a war with Britain; they declared war on Germany. Although he did want to conquer France; they embarrassed Germany in WWI. BTW, I will note in passing that was the reason Hitler invaded Poland; they were mistreating ethnic Germans living there.
True(ish) David, but to be fair Russia had been in a fair state of turmoil for several years before this, and huge numbers of their soldiers had no stomach for the fight by that stage
Is it true, ? I heard the government plans to run the grocery stores in Chicago. Our own P.Murderer of Canada, blessed his soul, wants to put a stop at the greedy grocery stores making it hard for ordinary citizens to feed themselves and their families. Same people perhaps, who attended the same schools?, same clubs? A racket is still a racket not matter how you look at this. By the way, how do you stop a runaway train? You dont, you jump off.
DITTO! I love the paragraph where you begin with " It begins with voluntary stupidity........"
But should you explore that our "elected representatives" are and have been interested in only creating their own personal wealth and as such ( and providing they get out of our country prior to her implosion so they can enjoy it) have done a great job for themselves! And, should you explore this, and as you are so eloquently perspicacious, please include what we, the common voter, ought to do in order to avoid said implosion.
I'm pretty sure Bill et al would say to follow their investing suggestions. But this only avoids being part of the economic implosion. If you want to avoid a greater implosion, I suggest you lay up your treasure in heaven. I suggest a way to do that at www.discourseonagape.org

(Sorry, Joel, I'm just funnin' with ya) 😊
Could’ve gone over…then back under…then over again… (theoretically, at least).
But you’re right…this is a one way train, right over the cliff!
If only that train was filled with Congressional & Senatorial geriatrics & yes folks, being Oh! So! Politically Correct.

Always a fun read here. A refreshing breeze of truth and fact instead of a narrative presented by nothing more than Orwellian policy wonks.

97% of Crimea is Russian speaking and has been Russian for longer than you've been a Lefty.

Butbutbut - my TV neglected to mention this.
Well, it surely would have been remiss if only I had one. My O My - how will they ever launder our tax dollars now?
State Department stupid enough to have the Uke Nazi's launch missile attacks on Moscow in 3, 2, 1??
Could be, could be...

All part of the plan.
Get ready for the "diversity" for Ukraine movement.

Hi Flier -
You missed a bit of Narrative, dripping off your chin...
It was the West's victory that nullified it.
Most people are familiar with WWII.
That is why I brought up one that is rarely discussed - WWI.

Joel,
I would appreciate your "notes" to be separate emails as they are usually a completely different subject than what Bill is writing about.
