I retired in 2008 and moved to Ecuador at the end of 2010. Ecuador blew up the sucre (local currency) back in 2000 and adopted the US$ as their legal currency. Despite the problems with the dollar, this has been a strong constraint on the politicians here, keeping them from inflating their currency, although they still borrow beyond their means to repay.

The cost of living here is much lower than in the US. My retirement income would be hard to get by on there, but down here we live comfortably but not extravagantly. It helps that since the pandemic started we have not made a trip back to the US, and those trips were always the big-budget item of our year.

Nearly all of our food is locally grown, healthy and nutritious, the climate is pleasant, and we get along well with the people here. My Spanish is nearly fluent (my Ecuadorian friends tell me it is fluent, but I know better), and we have no plans to ever move back.

Do you fault the man from moving to a location where he can afford to live?

It's really not that easy, the exit fee is around 80% of one's wealth. You can leave America but you'll need to leave you wallet behind. Not to mention SSI and all other payments from USA would cease.

The only real hope to moving abroad resides in choosing a nation that does not cooperate in enforcing the laws of USA upon its new residents. This coupled with crypto currency where in a man's wealth is his owns not that of the banking system and government.

American and I believe the world have been programmed to believe money earned is not their own. Owning many business ventures over the years it's shocking when a fellow American believes the very companies supporting their lifestyle are somehow or another illegitimate or a necessary evil for making a profit.

The Woke generation is not new, it's a long lived evil that destroys the peace wherever it is allowed to flourish.

Without complete destruction, followed by years of misery mankind is seemingly unable to find his way to the light. The deeper the misery seemingly the brighter the future.

Relating all things to One wiser than mankind; Every 50 years God instructed all debts were to be forgiven, all property returned to those it had formerly belonged, all slaves wishing to be free were so with back pay. Seems like a crazy system but in fact it guarded against the creation of an elite class who owned everything forever.

There's a deeper meaning to God's instructions but men are not interested. On a side note the instructions for a member of the community with a communicable disease were as follows. The infected were to leave the community and camp for 14 days, they were to wear a cloth covering their face, and cry out if another approached, 'I am unclean'. After 14 days the sick were to visit the priest, who would examine the patient and declare them 'clean' and able to return to the community.

It took billions of dollars, the collapse of the economy, the scientists of the combined CDC and WHO to figure out this very same solution to Covid. However they decided in error the healthy should live as the sick.

What else might we learn from listening to or observing the witness of God given 3500 ago?

Anyone needing confirmation, search Burckle Crater, and locate the date of that impact on sea floor with the Noah account. Next compare the creation story against what science has discovered specifically read The Science of God by Gerald Schroeder wherein a mathematical formula proving the world was created in 7/24 hour days from the perspective of the Creator while from out perspective the relative time elapsed was 15 billion years.

Very much appreciate the description, Mr. Bowman, your writing skill and the perspective your travels add to the information.

It seems to this middle-class Arkansan that Buenos Aires is a comfortable and interesting place to live - and so interesting that your children's schools apparently hold to the values we once held taught and held dear.

Very interesting Joel. I recently moved to Mexico from England after losing all faith in humanity following the lockdowns & vaccine coercion. It’s going very well & Mexico is a beautiful country, but have been surprised by the cost of goods, which in the supermarket are mostly far more expensive than the U.K., although services are much cheaper. Maybe I’ll try another Latin American country next year after working on my Español.

And also - perhaps I'm wrong - I sense from your description there remains a degree of old world graciousness in Buenos Aires at least within the circles you move in. It's rather strange for someone who doesn't live there to understand how significantly Argentina has healed from the "Dirty War' and the tragedy of the thousands of 'disappeared.'

Great history lessons

How surprised I was to see an intersection picture in your Aug 26th Debt Transfer story that is six miles from my bolthole. I felt like the story was for me.

You guys are great teachers.

Dan, hate i missed you in Laramie. Would like to hear about your bike race.

In 2013, I thought Santiago was a reasonable bargain. The book was only $3.00 from Amazon. I guess it will be worth laboring through in Spanish, seems a very readable Spanish. I need the practice.

Propaganda. War is a series of lies, USA is familiar with cooking up stories that start wars, and end wars.

Johnson learned the Gulf of Tonkin event was fabricated but never let a good story go to waste when there's a war to start.

Vietnam is the poster child of lies, even to the idea we were loosing as the reason for our surrender. Vietnamese officers admitted they were loosing the war when Congress declared and end and pulled out. We pulled out because bankruptcy loomed for USA. Kind of sad those who were againt the war were painted as cowards and unAmerican.

Newsmax will be seen as the last ditch effort to direct the narrative. Fox lost its hold on the conservative crowd. All the news organizations are owned by a handful of large Woke corporations.

The idea of not supporting poor incomprehensibly corrupt Ukraine against the big bad Putin is laughable in that all reports from the battlefield are source from Ukrainian sources. You now believe Joe Biden that we are winning or making any head way? The best result for the workaday Ukrainian would have been for Russia to roll in and rout the Biden controlled and funded swamp headed by Herr Zelensky.

Now again who was it that Ukraine hired to the board of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma?

Was it not Zelensky's government intervention that freed up the $5 billion dollar payment being withheld due to a certain Ukrainian prosecutor looking into Hunter Biden?

Before going to war it is advised to weigh the benefits against the sure cost and possibly of losing. What war has USA won in the last 70 years?

Winter is coming to the region, Ukraine can hit -4F, we had a friend in the area a few years ago I asked, What does one do in winter? 'If you don't ski, you stay inside and warm. This winter the cheap NG has been turned off. No worry he moved to Iceland when the CIA staged the coup by funding the local Nazi party of which Zelensky is a member.

He's Jewish, he saw the handwriting on the wall.

You're saying Zelensky, a Jew, is a member of a "local Nazi party" in Ukraine, really? Don't you think that Nazi party would have a bit of an issue with admitting a Jew?

I stand corrected not a swastika but a symbol of the Nazi party just the same.

The congress concluded with a "Nation March", which it organized with the Right Sector, a like-minded far-right organization with close ties to the National Corps. About 5,000 people took part in the torch-lit march from the Motherland Monument located in the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War to Saint Sophia's Square. Some of the marchers wore or carried the yellow and blue symbol of the Azov Battalion, which resembles the Wolfsangel, a symbol associated with Nazism.[3] October 14 is celebrated as the Defender of Ukraine Day, as a public holiday in Ukraine since 2015.

The party Zelensky heads is a Fascist party, who's flag includes a swastika. You're welcome to believe he's a benevolent fellow if you like. He is in fact the leader of what has been branded as the most corrupt government on the planet. and that is saying something.

Hitler was a Jew. Paul the creator of what became Roman Catholicism was Jewish, Muhammad was born in Yathrip a village comprised of 90% Jews is now called Medina. Muhammad childhood while disturbing was now spent in poverty. Hence it is thought he was of Jewish decent. The destruction of Judea coupled with the dysphoria was inflicted on the Jews by the rabbi Akiba who led a revolt against Rome. The Ram Bam a Jewish convert to Islam codified what is modern day Judaism. All the above lead to untold misery for the Jews over the centuries.

I highly recommend a study of Ukrainian governance during the last 20 years of their independence from Russia.

The first democratically elected government was pro Russian, our CIA assisted the local Fascist (neo Nazi) party in a coup to topple the peoples choice. The flag of the party Zelensky that put in power includes a swastika.

You're not getting the truth from any news network. We are propping up a more corrupt government than that of Russia under Putin. There would be no controversy if not for the NG pipeline from Russia suppling Europe that runs through Ukraine.

This situation is not quite as black or white as you attempt to portray. Putin attacked Ukraine unprovoked and then his forces committed unspeakable atrocities on innocent civilians.

If you read the piece Putin wrote in the summer 2021, he flat out states that he wants to return Russia back to its original empire (which was even larger than the Soviet Union). Putin is a whack job and though Zelensky is no boy scout he is the lesser of two evils. You might be backing a winner (in Putin), but the world will be worse off if Putin wins.

All news is filtered through the Ukrainian government.

USA has been funding a military build up of Ukrainian troops on the boarder long before Putin made his move.

There was no modern purpose for NATO it was created to check expansion of the USSR. USA has been funding NATO almost 100% why? With this proxy war NATO was revived, USA now has its stake in the Eastern Europe restored.

Again, even if everything you said in this last post is true, it doesn't refute what I said about the situation in the world if Putin wins. I'm not a big "nation building advocate" or being "the world's policeman". However, sticking our heads in the sand and ignoring what goes on elsewhere has proven to be a very bad strategy historically.

Yes, we have a military industrial complex and yes, they profit from this stuff. The question is would you rather tax dollars go to pay engineers and manufacturers of military materiel or a plethora of NGO's and Unions that tear down our country and teach children to hate each other?

Zelensky is Jewish by ethnicity, the Nazi party is a political party it was not based on killing Jews. Hitler was swept into power with his promise to coin honest money.

Every political party needs a figure head. What better cover would a Nazi party have in being headed by a Jew?

Before we took sides in this war, the spin of Zelensky the happy family man was all over social media. His character as the immoral clown disappeared until recently and even now is not mainstream news.
