It is a true shame that 90% of working people do not see the scam.

Sooner or later, smart kids who are good with their hands will realize learning a trade is not the way to make a living…it’s the way to make a life.

If you could get a mason in the USA for $25/hr. it would likely be a Latino immigrant because American tradesmen are older and retiring and our younger people, if they are even willing to work, need a mouse and screen or they stay home.

So true, I've had young and very sharp new hires give me a long list of what I'm required to provide for them to grace my company portals each morning. Their attraction to inquire for a position was based on knowing their skill set will be increased beyond what they might gain with any other employer. Most large companies pigeon hole their workers into a single skill set. Much like medical one knows the eyes, but has no knowledge of ears. Variety is the spice of life, one day a boiler, one day ducting out home, one day installing a package unit on a 8 story building with a crane, service, installation. Each worker is allowed a gamut of work.

After a short interview with that young potential hire, I explained we were not looking to hire any Prima Donnas. He had need to Google the term and was off. Very soon the credit fortunes of most Americans will disappear there will be no shortage of skilled tradesmen. We will return to the days when the only unemployed tradesman will be one seeking to be so. While the others will be those who are not worth managing, because they lack a work ethic and or moral compass.

If I had it to do over again I'd have mastered Spanish. If the Spanish in the USA ever master English and are allowed into the technical trades while retaining their work ethic and moral compass most all American tradesmen are in for a surprise.

I agree. I served a 5 yr. union plbg. apprenticeship in the early 60's and they were very selective in taking on applicants from the anxious list.

Yes. The last time I hired a mason to do work for me in 2019, he was a Latino immigrant who commuted 70 miles each way every day to do the work. Unable to find anyone in my area.

If we're going to have a recession due to supply shortages, especially from factories across oceans, then let's take advantage of it by really suppressing demand with a Volcker Interest Rate. 10% ought to do it.

The invisible hand in USA is the same as Joe Biden noted with his statement; "We the people are the government". The government's invisible hand is felt by every consumer and every company employing tradesmen or employees covered by Worker's Compensation Insurance. I pay $100 insurance for every $100 earned by some of our employees. Salesmen are less on the scale hence instead of classifying the boss as a field tech I'm now a salesman. Currently if we do not charge at least $2000 a day per man for skilled technicians and installers the company loses money. We have never had a serious injury that required used of the policy in 30 years. However those companies that do are rewarded with the shared pool of payments. This current generation is the reason I will be retiring and selling my hvac business. We are also consolidating some other business ventures. At one of our ice cream businesses a high school age worker cut her finger (no hospital visit a bandaid was employed) on a machine the first time this every happened in 35 years and on a piece of equipment that has no sharp parts. Go figure her mother intervened wanting our Workman's Compensation Insurance to cover her brush with death. I've come to the conclusion (along with most of my fellow business associates employing skilled and semi skilled workers) it is much easier to manage money than people.

USA in the next 7 years will resemble the third world. This will be a combination of Covid and Russian's fault no doubt.

' Amazon (AMZN) CEO Andy Jassy received a pay package valued at $212.7 million in 2021, marking a substantial compensation increase for the executive during his first year running the tech giant, according to a company filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday. '

Or about $119,000 per hour.

Yet you blame some poor smuck breaking his back out in the hot sun for making $25 hr.

Thanks Bill for another update! Enjoy the photo's as always, especially the craftsmen working on your ranch fences, walls and churches! Not only the cost of the labor but the raw materials for that wall here in the US would cost a fortune! Cuidate
