Agreed. And Yeah I'm not sure about that 8300 tons given the Canadian government sold all its gold around the time of Brown's bottom while, curiously the bank of England has supposedly nine floors stacked in gold bricks.
Good question! We'd have to take into consideration grains, new or reloaded case and if new, manufacturer. Nothing I'm sure a free and unfettered capitalist market couldn't figure out.
We also need to consider how the ammo was stored since the time of purchase. In an interior, climate-controlled closet is preferable to ammo cans in the garage, but even storing rounds long-term in the house is no guarantee of efficacy.
As I learned on the range last weekend with lots of misfires in 10-year old ammunition and even a few VERY dangerous squibs, which is when the gunpowder ignites but the bullet is lodged in the barrel.
I see the poll results favor the digital dollar. There are many problems with that. The worst is the total control the government would have on our lives and privacy. Every transaction would be recorded and could be used as a weapon to control our transactions. Not good.
A gold backed dollar would have stability and politicians wanting to bribe constituents would be thwarted because they could not produce gold out of thin air.
To those who say that this cannot be done because there is not enough gold do not understand how this scheme can work. I will not go into it here. But it can work. Furthermore it has worked in the past. The problem is not that there is not enough gold. The problem is that there are too many paper dollars floating around. A new gold backed money would be issued and the old retired.
Politicians do not like to be hemmed and required to answer for overspending and pork barrel programs. They want free reign with the nation's money. Look where that got us!
Money must have limits on quantity to worth anything. Gold is that limit.
If the dollar was backed by physical gold, then it would have to be revalued.
Even with partial backing it would probably rise 10X on current prices, which is not likely until after the Government "acquires" all the physical gold.
Love the humor and sarcasm in previous comments. However, the only logical answer is CBDC. As usual, the Ruling Class will seize the opportunity to consolidate their control even further. They will frame the CBDC solution as "giving your benevolent government the tools it needs to crush this FINANCIAL CRISIS!" News media and liberals will welcome these new tools, as well as all conservatives born since 1980. In the words of prescient author George Orwell: "Real power is achieved when the ruling class controls the material essentials of life, granting and withholding them from the masses as if they were privileges."
The elites want total control, so unfortunately we will not get a gold backed dollar, instead will end up with a CBDC still worthless, but they will change our amount to zero when we don’t agree with them. Then the silent majority will awaken, but will it be to late?
The poll question was what would most likely replace the dollar; not what you want to replace the dollar. I sure as hell don't want a CBDC, but its most likely coming. The Uniparty's not going to just pack their bags and go home. The CBDC will keep their party going for a little longer. The Uniparty does what's in its best interest as opposed to what's in the best interest of American citizens. So tell your Tribalist friends and families to keep towing the party line and they'll have their CBDC in short order :-)
I'm with ya, but I think we're about 20-30 years away from that being a viable 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 option. Until BTC can overcome its inherent shortfalls with regard to power outages, ease of storage/proof of ownership and widespread acceptance by society and merchants, it's just not yet feasible as a $$ replacement.
Plus - we don't have 20-30 years left before the excrement violently meets the air circulation device...
A digital CBDC is the likely follow-up after the greenback's demise; however a medium will be required for black-market trade, I believe it will be junk silver.
I loathe the prospect of more surveillance and government control which is the expected outcome of CBDC. So I voted for that because I do not see any will to return to a non-corrupt monetary regime.
What is likely is a CBDC, GOD HELP US.
WHAT I WOULD WANT IS A GOLD BACKED CURRENCY!
I want the gold not the paper otherwise we start from the point that got us into this mess.
agreed - unless we demand regular and transparent AUDITS of the supply. Live, streamed online and frequent.
BTW - they are still claiming 8,300 TONS of physical Gold in the US coffers. Laughably untrue...
Agreed. And Yeah I'm not sure about that 8300 tons given the Canadian government sold all its gold around the time of Brown's bottom while, curiously the bank of England has supposedly nine floors stacked in gold bricks.
Mr. star I think you were wrong! I think PGV told us every drop of gold was just as they told us. I was quite relieved to hear that.😂😂😂
Hollow points.
What would be the exchange, 9’s to .45?
Good question! We'd have to take into consideration grains, new or reloaded case and if new, manufacturer. Nothing I'm sure a free and unfettered capitalist market couldn't figure out.
Hey Dawg -

DON'T pull that trigger again - BOOM...

I voted on the digital dollar. Not because I prefer it but the question was. What is likely to replace the dollar? I agree with everything you said.
^^^THIS^^^
The CBDC is the LAST replacement anyone should want or accept. However, that wasn't Joel's question...
I remember when poll results favored Hillary. I dont trust polls.
If the dollar was backed by physical gold, then it would have to be revalued.
Even with partial backing it would probably rise 10X on current prices, which is not likely until after the Government "acquires" all the physical gold.
And then the CBDC will be introduced!

A BRICS+ digital dollar backed by gold.
We can wish...

Hi Judy -
Yes...
Judy: Totally agree! The Feds will have total control of any spending we do. Who knows what the value of our Fiat dollars vs. digital dollars will be?
It is too late to change the outcome, prepare for a digital future, and remain as "off grid" as possible.
In OZ we have a socialist "government" who are in lockstep with the future, as planned by the WEF.
Happy days indeed !
CBDC - HELLO GEORGE ORWELL!
GOD HELP US
Sardines, canned beef, and "precious metals" (copper jacketed lead)
Water Filtration Devices, Long-Storage Vegetable Seeds, Hand Tools...

Never let a crisis go to waste. CBDC
My IOU backed by good faith in my reputation and my promise to not overspend.
Digital, backed by nothing!
A BRICS "dollar" backed by gold.
