China did nothing wrong? Try asking Gucci or countless other fashion, tech or manufacturing outfits who invested in China when they pretended capitalism only to have anti free market restrictions placed on them and/or their intellectual property stolen. Ukraine? I'm old enough to have gone through this with Viet Nam, with the important exception we don't have troops involved now. If Bill or any of his acolytes don't think the US is getting valuable info concerning Russia's weapon systems, our own weapons systems, or are not engineering the depletion of Russia's economic and military strength while this is going on, they are greatly mistaken and quite naive. I'll stop short of saying we should or should not be there, but when faced, like Nam, with the killing of children, raping of women, in general, crimes against humanity, I sure as hell won't hold someone's feet to the fire for saying we should. I had to wake up this morning to the headline the Russian's bombed grain stores in Ukraine. Personally, I'm fed up with this crap. Do any of you "Know it all's" realize how many people around the world will starve because of that? Or is that OK because it's not you that's going to starve? Think about it the next time Bill or The Donald tell you what a wonderful guy Vlad is. It shouldn't ALWAYS be about the money.

31 years ago, Crichton warned about American and European Companies foolish enough to build factories in foreign countries - yes, their tech and patents will be stolen!! Duh. But management did it anyway, to save on labor costs. These Companies got what they deserved, because they are greedy fools. Many countries have nationalized / expropriated foreign assets, including US! I do not understand why you are surprised. Winter is coming and Putie Claus will win.

Harry, no sympathies for the Ukrainian and Russian young men being slaughtered? Why did Boris Johnson and our own mediocrity, Anthony Blinken, scuttle peace talks over a year ago? I'm not a Vlad apologist, but he is absolutely correct in his "special operation" against Ukraine. He, and the Russian leaders before him, were lied to continuously concerning NATO expansion and Ukraine's treatment of the ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine. Also underreported are the neo-Nazi regiments that populate Ukraine's armed forces. It is complex. What about the depletion of our own military strength? And with regard to China, did they hold a gun to any company that CHOSE to do business there? Did these companies not know the game going in? And if they did, and went anyway, eff 'em.

Hey Brian. If anyone does understand the history of Ukraine, Putin has to be the good guy. NATO expansion??

Expand full comment

Brian, you assume a lot. It gets really tragic when you go beyond ideology and assume how others feel or think. War dead? All war is tragic as well as all loss of life-but you chose to assume I don't feel that way. But I think someone's priorities are ass backwards if they feel for the soldiers before innocent life, which was my point and you conveniently choose not to mention it. The situation is complex-I will give you that, and I fully understand the Russian heritage in the area, but do you REALLY think that's justification for what he's doing? Why shouldn't Ukraine be allowed to join NATO? Another idealogical assumption. Let's not sugar coat it- you are a Vlad apologist. It's not that I question your right to an opinion, it's that for any one who supports a murdering b*****d like Putin, I question their right to be considered human. And Brian, you missed the point on China too. Namely that the rules CHANGED in China AFTER our corporations did due diligence and risk assessment and invested there. I find it ironic that you don't mind the depletion of our economic and intellectual assets (" Eff em") but are so concerned about the depletion of or military assets in Ukraine-strangely inconsistent. Brian, you're a piece of work!

Thank you for the "sub-human" personal attack Harry. I'll wear it as a badge of honor. Funny how you didn't address any of my comments about Ukraine's military, or disputed any of my assertions about the causes of this idiotic war. As to your question as to why shouldn't Ukraine join NATO, I would ask if you would be comfortable with a military alliance involving Russia and China if it included bases in Mexico? With regard to China, were they a democratic republic when these companies offshored? Some companies, like GM, went in knowing their shit would be stolen. I don't have any sympathy. Flipping your sentence around, "it ALWAYS is about the money."

Expand full comment

Badge of honor? Ask yourself: When you're ready to pass from this world, and Brian, I truly hope it's many years from now, is having supported a creep like Putin what you want to hang your hat on and identify with? REALLY? Maybe it's me.

Hey Harry. I am not trying to offend you, but if you know the history of Ukraine, in NATO expansion, you will better understand his reasoning. He was promised in 91 that NATO would not move. 1 inch east. This is John Kennedy‘s missile crisis of 1962. Nothing more nothing less. Just my opinion, sir.

Expand full comment

Thank you, I appreciate that, but the problem I'm having with this is that it's not correct to pick & choose facts to suit one's ideology. Did it ever occur to all of you that this is not the Russia of 1992? Sweden & Finland, once upon a time, wanted nothing to do with NATO, and when Putin pulled what he did in Ukraine, these 2 countries were the first to line up for membership. Whether somebody broke a promise or not, can't any of you get it into your heads that's no excuse for the crimes against humanity he's committing. I think I once promised my mother I wouldn't go out with girls-things change. Point is, a lot of this is a futile argument. At this point it is generally accepted that Putin is not all there and he is very dangerous. Case in point: when he went into Crimea, he had a number of diplomatic options and he chose a show of force. He could have picked up the phone, for example, and told Obama "You bastard Americans have been in Gitmo since 1959 and no one has said a thing-now I need access to the naval base in Crimea and the political climate in the area is changing" Our diplomatic options would have been very limited but to accommodate him in some way. Also read an article about the phone ringing in the middle of the night at the Obama WH-it was Angela Merkel. She had just gotten off the phone with the lunatic and was visibly shaken telling Obama she didn't think he was all there. I realize Trump liked to refer to her as "Stupid", but she has a Doctorate in Quantum Chemistry. Think about that. That should go a long way to showing you where the problem is. By the way, are you really a worm farmer? My degree was in biology and I do some back yard organic farming here at the Jersey Shore. I LOVE THOSE GUYS! Seems to me they really earn their keep around here as that sandy soil can really compact.

Your point on allowing China to self-destruct is well taken.

However, I thought the same of democrat cities and states. Then along came "covid" and Donald Trump to bail them out with trillions of our dollars.

Sometimes there never seems to be justice, or results, even after waiting decades

Expand full comment

Sometimes it takes a while for the inevitable result to happen, like 70 years for the soviet union to fall. But it is inevitable, and will happen to all nations. The one thing that will accelerate the fall is how far they have strayed from God. Yes, I know, sometimes it seems to take centuries, in the case of the Roman empire. God winked at their ignorance, and allowed His people to show them a better way, even as they were being martyred. Finally, satan changed his tactics, and brought the pagans into the church. That's when the 1260 years of papal persecution started. If you're interested: https://revelationofjesus.net/en/important-questions/1260-days-of-revelation-symbolize-1260-years-of-persecution/

I could only cringe with excitement when I read that, according to the Full Bucket of Idiots (FBI) that China was conducting counter-intelligence and economic espionage against people in the US!

The horrors, you say!

After we have been exposed to reports of the FBI and the Criminal Insurrection Agency (CIA) doing the same against US Citizens.

It comes across as the FBI saying that they should have a monopoly of conducting these spying operations against US Citizens. But they cry like upset babies when someone else takes the initiative to conduct those operations without their permission.

I guess I should have mentioned that there was plenty of sarcasm in my voice when I typed the original message, but there was also plenty of anger.

The "monopoly of spying" was directed at the scenario of the Chinese using their spying capabilities against Americans, compared to whether they were encroaching upon the rights of the FBI and CIA, and whether the Chinese were doing so without the permission of those two US departments. Is it better that people in the United States are spied upon by their own government or by the Chinese? I'm not so sure which is better, or if either is proper; I just wanted to throw out the question with some humor.

Ah, yes, Bill.....China, that bastion of individual rights. I'm glad you finally got around to mentioning why China will eventually fail. In the meantime, they could do a lot of damage, including invading Taiwan. China is somewhat of a "double-edged sword" in that for quite a number of years, it helped mask US inflation by selling us products much cheaper than we could make it ourselves. On the other hand, some of that production was done by American companies investing in China factories and then having their intellectual property stolen by the CCP. In the meantime, they infiltrate our colleges and universities, which are already bastions of communism anyway. When it comes to China, it's hard to separate the good from the bad - cheap goods vs. theft of intellectual property and the build-up of their military. They are a dire threat to us - but, of course, so is our own government.

Expand full comment

I think it's unlikely they will invade Taiwan. They saw the sanctions against russia, which I'm sure gives them pause. The cost-benefit equation just doesn't make sense. But, people do crazy things.

Bill's penchant to agitate was in full view today. His faithful readers will nitpick his provocative assertions. But I'm going to complain.

He neglected to mention that, China's insidious and successful data thefts notwithstanding, we can't afford another war that uses men and machines, especially one with China.

They overwhelmed us in Korea with waves of poorly equipped soldiers. Another war with a far better equipped China, even one using Taiwan as our proxy, will be more devastating. It will also be supremely foolish.

China is, after all, supporting our way of life. It does so by lending us enormous sums with which our Federal government pays its many bills. Better if we don't bite the hand that feeds us

Are you frigging kidding me? China needs us, more than we need them. We can get our crappy goods from any other impoverished nation, there's plenty of them.

Hitler used the E-motion of revenge and injustice of indiscriminate suffering by million to convince Germans that the capitalist ie Jews - Rothschild etc had colluded with the Jewish diaspora against the Germanic peoples out of jealousy for their superior intellect in the arts/music/sciences etc .. it was a very deceptive social propaganda that even many Jews believed about WW1 and the subsequent WW2 which was just a continuation of that prior injustice. Lets hope it is never repeated against another social/religious/racial group because they are never to blame .. the southern German (Bavarian) Germans to this very day still blame the crucifixion on the Jews who were NOT the Christ killers at all as we know the entire Roman occupation forces of Palestine were under instruction to put down any rebellion that threatened the Empire .. the war with Asia will be a nuclear one ..

Nobody said anything about being surprised, Tom. My point was that the Chinese agreed to do business on the world stage and then changed the rules. There has been a lot said post Covid about de globalization. If you're one of those people who think it will fully unravel, you're in for a big surprise. Yes, there has been some, but, and I've followed the markets for years, it's not nearly as much as the press would have you believe. Why? Because certain countries have the ability to do certain things better and more efficiently than others. Case in point being that the US now exports

more oil than any other nation. I find it interesting you needed to get a jab in at me without addressing the issue of the Chinese' lack of integrity. Did I perhaps disturb your neurosis?

You're right, globalization will not fully unravel, the cost-benefit analysis doesn't favor that.

Tom - Where did you get "No cash for Maui"?

JBAKST is 100% correct. China has been stealing our intellectual capital for years. But I suspect our real issue with China is that they want to take over Taiwan which would either eliminate Taiwan as a source for our chips or open up the possibility of use using chips that capture data to send back to China.

As for Ukraine, I fail to see how letting Russia expand by military force over existing sovereign countries is in anybodies best interests, unless you prefer Russia.

Like Mr. Bonner says, “when the money goes, everything goes”. If China goes, Amazon goes, if Amazon goes, the economy goes, kinda like pulling the rug from underneath the economic sector. Hahahaha! That’s like committing economic suicide. China ain’t no dummy, like Mr. Bonner stated, there’s a reason why they have been supplying the US with 1 billion worth of goods on a daily basis for a very long long time, once upon a time, way past yonder!

The 🐀’s are getting bigger! 😂 Them large silver “weather balloons” recoded the trajectory path of artillery air power over the vast oceans mapping the dead zones in the air where the birds can fly undetected before getting spotted by the CIA Bird Watchers. Who’s the highest bidder now? None other than “Mr. Rocket Man”, as President Trump, The King of The World, likes to call him. lol.

They’ve been stealing our technology and confidential information! They’ve infiltrated all of our universities with giving them millions and millions of dollars to push their propaganda which has been very successful. They have given our media, millions and millions of dollars to push the propaganda. They’ve set up illegal police stations around our country. They have opened labs to develop bio weapons right here in America. There is so many things. China has done wrong. How dare you say they’ve done nothing. You are losing tremendous credibility with your BS. I will not be re-subscribing.!
