So yes, there will be somewhat higher oil and gas prices permanently going forward (contrary to what the forward contract price of oil is telling us)...and there will be more destruction of Gulf States fossil fuel production and storage which will likely cause a short term spike. But Trump is in Beijing with a stunningly powerful coterie of business leaders to make a deal. So the Iranian efforts were set way back with the bombings with extremely-low loss of life by American troops. And when Pres. Trump pulls out, gasoline prices will come back down and the American people will then simply yawn, especially since so few body bags came back. (When gasoline prices come down, I don't know what will happen in the mid-terms. But it won't much henge on gas prices when Mr. Trump leaves in a month or so.)

Te U.S. Navy escorted one oil tanker saftely through the Strait. Then it was stopped! Duh? Why not continue that operation and escort all the ships out of the Strait? If attached with missiles and drones - then take out those launch sites. I am currently residing in Budapest and last weekend I attended a social event at a cafe here that was arranged by a lovely woman from Vladivostok, Russia. I sat a table with 3 woman from Iran..one was a student, one was a fitness trainer the other was actually born in the UK to Iranian parents. There were others at this table and eventually someone mentioned the mid-east conflict. Neither of these ladies wished 'death to America' all had relatives living back in Iran, they love their country... they would like the conflict to end. As for Ukraine...my 98 year old father and his wife live close to the border between Hungary & Ukraine. My father's wife is determined that Russia eventually wins the Special Military Operation due to the history of treatment of the ethnic Hungarians within Western Ukraine... my father on the other is not sure what the fuss his all about...he's 98 after all.

While Trump has historically been "flexible" in his policy positions he has been steadfast about the nuclear weapons issue, so I doubt he his going to fold the tent and call it a day without clear solution on that point. He has been abundantly clear, the Iranian Regime cannot have nuclear weapons. The IRGC, which is what remains of the Regime, has been equally unequivocal. They will not abandon such efforts. That is a stalemate , not checkmate. The IRGC threat to retaliate against the Gulf States and US Bases is real, their ability to control Hormuz is limited and will be dispatched by the US and Israeli forces shortly and a European/Gulf State coalition led by the French and British forces will maintain control and free passage. So yes, there will be somewhat higher oil and gas prices permanently going forward (contrary to what the forward contract price of oil is telling us)...and there will be more destruction of Gulf States fossil fuel production and storage which will likely cause a short term spike. But Trump is in Beijing with a stunningly powerful coterie of business leaders to make a deal. Whether that happens right away is questionable , but a deal will be made and it will include (among other agreements/concessions) some form of agreement about securing a steady source of oil for China. For China the security of the flow of oil is more important than the price and they don't truly care where it comes from. For Trump the security of the free world and his legacy are more important than harming China. Therein is the deal. Once that agreement is in place it is likely going to be bombs away baby! But the IRGC will still not fall right away. It has been embedded in all elements of Iranian society for almost 50 years and they do not care about their people. So this will not end until either with some form of off ramp that lets the thugs keep a portion of their economic power and personal safety assurances , or it will end when the Iranian people finally rise up en masse.
