Mr Bonner knows financial data and has a good understanding of such. However he is been taught/indoctrinated by the Public Fool System when it comes to History. The first and REAL major shift to centralize power in the Federal Government came with our Constitution. The delegates to the Constitution were only authorized to make amendments to the Articles of Confederation, not write a NEW constitution. Within the Articles of Confederation was the stipulation that agreement had to be 100% not a majority. Power was at the State level, not the Federal!!

Both Lincoln and Davis stated the Civil War (more appropriately named the War of Northern Aggression) was not fought over slavery!! I can provide direct quotes from both if you would like. The South seceded over Money. The South was providing most of the tax dollars while the tax dollars were being spent in the North. Read the editorials of the Northern Newspapers right after the South Seceded. They were all stating the North would go broke without the revenue from the South. Pay attention to the adage – “Follow the Money”.

Most people have never heard of the Hazzard Circular -

https://books.google.com/books/about/The_Hazzard_Circular.html?id=ygN9twAACAAJ “Slavery is likely to be abolished by the war power, and chattel slavery destroyed. This I and my European friends are in favor of, for slavery is but the owning of labor and carries with it the care of the laborer, while the European plan, led on by England, is capital control of labor by controlling wages. THIS CAN BE DONE BY CONTROLLING THE MONEY.”– Hazard Circular, 1862. Again this is not taught in the Public Fool System. Remember the 10th plank of the Communist Manifesto is “Free Education for All Children in Public Schools”.

As a side note the 2nd plank of the Communist Manifesto is A Heavy Progressive or Graduated Income Tax. There is a US Govt Dept for every plank of the Communist Manifesto but NOT one for any of the 10 items of the Bill of Rights. Amazing.

The Southern States actually put down, in writing, their reasons for seceding. This website has five of them. South Carolina does a great job making its legal case for separation. The meat of the matter starts at paragraph 13. Enjoy.

https://www.battlefields.org/learn/primary-sources/declaration-causes-seceding-states#South_Carolina

OK, OK, I'll paste the last several paragraphs of this "Declaration of Independence" from the United States.

We hold that the Government thus established is subject to the two great principles asserted in the Declaration of Independence; and we hold further, that the mode of its formation subjects it to a third fundamental principle, namely: the law of compact. We maintain that in every compact between two or more parties, the obligation is mutual; that the failure of one of the contracting parties to perform a material part of the agreement, entirely releases the obligation of the other; and that where no arbiter is provided, each party is remitted to his own judgment to determine the fact of failure, with all its consequences.

In the present case, that fact is established with certainty. We assert that fourteen of the States have deliberately refused, for years past, to fulfill their constitutional obligations, and we refer to their own Statutes for the proof.

The Constitution of the United States, in its fourth Article, provides as follows: "No person held to service or labor in one State, under the laws thereof, escaping into another, shall, in consequence of any law or regulation therein, be discharged from such service or labor, but shall be delivered up, on claim of the party to whom such service or labor may be due."

This stipulation was so material to the compact, that without it that compact would not have been made. The greater number of the contracting parties held slaves, and they had previously evinced their estimate of the value of such a stipulation by making it a condition in the Ordinance for the government of the territory ceded by Virginia, which now composes the States north of the Ohio River.

The same article of the Constitution stipulates also for rendition by the several States of fugitives from justice from the other States.

The General Government, as the common agent, passed laws to carry into effect these stipulations of the States. For many years these laws were executed. But an increasing hostility on the part of the non-slaveholding States to the institution of slavery, has led to a disregard of their obligations, and the laws of the General Government have ceased to effect the objects of the Constitution. The States of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa, have enacted laws which either nullify the Acts of Congress or render useless any attempt to execute them. In many of these States the fugitive is discharged from service or labor claimed, and in none of them has the State Government complied with the stipulation made in the Constitution. The State of New Jersey, at an early day, passed a law in conformity with her constitutional obligation; but the current of anti-slavery feeling has led her more recently to enact laws which render inoperative the remedies provided by her own law and by the laws of Congress. In the State of New York even the right of transit for a slave has been denied by her tribunals; and the States of Ohio and Iowa have refused to surrender to justice fugitives charged with murder, and with inciting servile insurrection in the State of Virginia. Thus the constituted compact has been deliberately broken and disregarded by the non-slaveholding States, and the consequence follows that South Carolina is released from her obligation.

The ends for which the Constitution was framed are declared by itself to be "to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity."

These ends it endeavored to accomplish by a Federal Government, in which each State was recognized as an equal, and had separate control over its own institutions. The right of property in slaves was recognized by giving to free persons distinct political rights, by giving them the right to represent, and burthening them with direct taxes for three-fifths of their slaves; by authorizing the importation of slaves for twenty years; and by stipulating for the rendition of fugitives from labor.

We affirm that these ends for which this Government was instituted have been defeated, and the Government itself has been made destructive of them by the action of the non-slaveholding States. Those States have assume the right of deciding upon the propriety of our domestic institutions; and have denied the rights of property established in fifteen of the States and recognized by the Constitution; they have denounced as sinful the institution of slavery; they have permitted open establishment among them of societies, whose avowed object is to disturb the peace and to eloign the property of the citizens of other States. They have encouraged and assisted thousands of our slaves to leave their homes; and those who remain, have been incited by emissaries, books and pictures to servile insurrection.

For twenty-five years this agitation has been steadily increasing, until it has now secured to its aid the power of the common Government. Observing the *forms* [emphasis in the original] of the Constitution, a sectional party has found within that Article establishing the Executive Department, the means of subverting the Constitution itself. A geographical line has been drawn across the Union, and all the States north of that line have united in the election of a man to the high office of President of the United States, whose opinions and purposes are hostile to slavery. He is to be entrusted with the administration of the common Government, because he has declared that "Government cannot endure permanently half slave, half free," and that the public mind must rest in the belief that slavery is in the course of ultimate extinction.

This sectional combination for the submersion of the Constitution, has been aided in some of the States by elevating to citizenship, persons who, by the supreme law of the land, are incapable of becoming citizens; and their votes have been used to inaugurate a new policy, hostile to the South, and destructive of its beliefs and safety.

On the 4th day of March next, this party will take possession of the Government. It has announced that the South shall be excluded from the common territory, that the judicial tribunals shall be made sectional, and that a war must be waged against slavery until it shall cease throughout the United States.

The guaranties of the Constitution will then no longer exist; the equal rights of the States will be lost. The slaveholding States will no longer have the power of self-government, or self-protection, and the Federal Government will have become their enemy.

Sectional interest and animosity will deepen the irritation, and all hope of remedy is rendered vain, by the fact that public opinion at the North has invested a great political error with the sanction of more erroneous religious belief.

We, therefore, the People of South Carolina, by our delegates in Convention assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, have solemnly declared that the Union heretofore existing between this State and the other States of North America, is dissolved, and that the State of South Carolina has resumed her position among the nations of the world, as a separate and independent State; with full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent States may of right do.

Adopted December 20, 1860

Jonathan, You are one of the few who are willing to go look at the evidence to see if what is being said is accurate and truthful. First step is to understand what is really going on. Most are unwilling to even investigate. As Emma Goldman said back in the early 1900's "Americans would rather be comfortable than free". Americans know more about their football teams than their local government/school board. Our government is going to go down as the MOST Corrupt government of all times!!! The answer is to STOP VOTING!! We required the Irags and Afghanistans to have over 50% of the eligible voters vote or the election was not valid. Only 53% of the eligible voters voted in the Obama/Romney election in 2012. If it had been Hillary/Jeb Bush in 2016 the Deep State was afraid there would not be 50% participation so they ran Trump. By voting, the Deep State can state they have the support of the majority of the people. We keep giving them the power by voting. This country has become more and more socialistic/communistic during my lifetime (born in 1947). Country has not changed this trajectory regardless of the party in power! Voting has got us into this mess. What is the definition of insanity?

Bill, I have been following your comments and writings for years and have always appreciated your wry wit and common sense. However, pushing the mistaken causes that lead to the war between the states is flat out wrong. It is true that the issue of slavery was USED to justify the war, it was not the actual cause. The war was about money, as most wars are. The industrialized north wanted to exercise economic hegemony over the continent. Problem was, the south largely accessed finished and industrial goods from France and Great Britain. The mass migration on the continent at the time tended to be from the NE fanning out west and south west. Hence that is where the railroads were being built. It was cheaper for the south to bring goods in by ship than it was to ship goods overland north to south. The north wanted the markets and was willing to fight for them. Amongst the doughy Confederate army, only a chemical trace of them ever owned, or ever would own, slaves.

Why would those who have grown rich on coal, oil and gas, suddenly turn against the very things that made them? The answer seems to be that Leftism, woke-ism, Marxism, whatever we call it, requires self immolation to prove one's faithfulness to the new order. This is what seems to explain Bud Light, Target, Disney's and even our govermental declines. These entities continue to embrace the things that caused the loss of billions and even the loss of security with no apology to the stockholders or to citizens. In their corporate and state demise they see a kind of "self righteousness" that to them as being worth all the loss.

Hi, Harry again. Would like to thank Dorothy for her like of my comments and also the interesting comments I got from StarboardEdge and Steve L. First of all, StarboardEdge, feel free to call me Harry, the Mr. Z stuff makes me feel older than my 73 years! I don't believe I offered an opinion about abortion, just stated that I felt it merited a national policy. Personally, I think every abortion is a tragedy and am appalled at the low birth rate today (roughly 1.54 children to every couple-2.2 or so is needed JUST TO BREAK EVEN). People seem not to want to be bothered and there's something wrong with that, make no mistake. However, power can and will always be abused. I'm referring to women in these anti abortion states force to carry a dead fetus to term-one is now suing her state, I believe Texas, but check me on that. Or the women with an Ectopic pregnancy and they can't get help. That's where the fetus settles in say, the fallopian tube, can never develop to term and the mother can bleed to death. All power comes with an equal call for responsibility-sorry, I don't see here in these anti abortion states. It seems the women are being used for pawns in a political game. StarboardEdge, forget the mail is sacrosanct. Do you think you own privacy is sacrosanct? Would you want people listening to your private's calls and conversations? It's the same thing. As to the stuff about moving to another state, well that's just a rehash of the 60's "America, love it or leave it". It didn't flush then, and it won't flush now. This is America and people have a right to stand up for what the believe in-not be driven out of their homes and exiled. As far as your comparison of drugs approved by the FDA (no matter how resentful you may be of Federal agencies) to the illegal stuff, well, you'll have to do better than that, A LOT BETTER! (But I do resect your opinion and glad I got to know you.)

Where to begin with this stuff? SO WHAT if industrialization caused a people to realize the wrong of slavery? Most people of conscience would applaud that. States rights? Abortion? Let's talk about abortion and capital punishment-2 life issues. As a life long American, I strongly feel there should be national policies on these issues (one way or another). I'm not categorically against capital punishment, but I'm fed up with seeing someone get the chair in one state, and a lesser sentence in another for the same crime. It's hard to see that as Justice. Abortion, just look at the mess absence of a national policy has created in just one year, legally-in the courts and logistically, with people going out of state for help. Now the "Anti's" want to intercept the US mail to stop the abortion pills. Good luck with that-I had a 38 year career with the US Postal Service and the mail is a Federal domain, granted by the US Constitution. But then, I guess when you have enough money, laws and the Constitution don't matter much.

Bill, no one is saying you're wrong. No one is saying you're not entitled to your opinion. But you're obviously a guy who can't see there are two sides to every issue, or worse yet, doesn't want his readers to see it.

Hi Mr. Zuzuro -

That's the beauty of the Sovereign State system as we originally had it. If you don't like the laws, attitudes and/or outcomes in one state, then move to a different state where the "government" and Culture is more to your taste. Sadly, that type of America is long gone (never to return IMO), though we are starting to see citizens self-segregate through migration, driven by the immoral, degenerate and batsh*t crazy inherent in today's left.

Regarding the Mail - I know several career USPS employees and they all exude an attitude similar to yours. I often tease them by calling them Nueman (from Seinfeld) - "The Mail is SACROSANCT!" Ok, whatever. To most people now days it is a burden.

Try this - if abortion is essentially outlawed in a particular state by the leaders the residents of that state elected, then they could also outlaw (criminalize) abortion pills, and rightly so. That should lead to any person or organization that "mails" them into that state being guilty of what should be a felony, similar to the charges one would face if caught mailing illegal, hard drugs into the state.

Obviously, the rub would come when trying to enforce the law because, as you so eloquently allude to, nobody can mess with the US Mail...

;)

Yes Harry, I believe we are all fed up, but for different reasons. If America was a true nation of laws, as we no longer are, Abortion would be considered murder, and those same murderers would be put to death as a national death penalty would demand.

The outcome would not favor liberal longevity, as most would be murdered in their liberal mothers womb(it is an inherent disease), and the perpetrator would hang, or be gassed, shot, electrocuted, injected or just die of stupidity as is very common in American liberal cities...but yes Harry, as we see with the wealthy leftist in America, if you have enough money, Laws nor the Constitution really matter much...

It is certainly proper to argue with Bill Bonner, whether good or bad.

Everybody who's anybody in the scriptures argues with God, and everybody on the planet with a brain wonders about the existence of God and human suffering. He doesn's seem to mind. Personally, I am thrilled that Bill runs in crowds that I eschew, and note that we don't see his critics here disappearing.

It is this historical analysis that I appreciate about BPR. But I continue to wonder how they can expect to survive when the "elite" send their black shirts knocking at the door some night, and shooting the teachers. Apparently BPR does not worry about that.

A number of comments to Bill's writings here today exhibit some of my own concerns about his intentions and loyalties. None about his safety.

They and their progeny endured other forms of bondage for another hundred years, often vicious.

Human bondage has existed in America longer than it hasn't. Manifestations endure to this day. The recent capricious murder by police in Minneapolis is a case in point.
