So Bill, what did the U.S.A. do after it vanquished it's enemies in Japan, Germany, etc.? Did we enslave their populations, pillage their assets and natural resources or did we help them to rebuild after losing wars that they started? It seems to me that a Bad Guy would have taken advantage of the situation and extracted as much as possible from the vanquished.

"At more than 600 people per 100,000 in the hoosegow, the US locks up twice as many of its own people as Russia, and five times as many as China." -- Bill in this missive

You might want to ask a Russian or Chinese national that escaped from those places if living there as a common man is any worse than living in a prison here. You might be surprised by their answers.

We have met the enemy, and they are us.

"Guy" refers to a man. Bill needs to get "woke"! I am reporting him to the Thought Police! "Bad Guy Theory" should be "Bad Person Theory".

Bad guys usually eventually eliminate themselves, or get disappeared. It is the evil ones that seem to hang on because the spirit of evil is so strong and spreads rapidly. Especially if others think they can get a piece of the pie for free. China may flex their muscle, but they are not ignorant. No one has seen a nation unite as quickly as this one when threatened. No less than President Lincoln said, "this country only can be taken from within", so even the powers that be would have issues. No, we don't have f-16s or anything near as powerful as the govt. but the will and spirit would be something to behold. I pray it never comes to that. I am still to old to shoot, but still one hell of a loader!! Just sayin'

There are no "good guys" with the exception of Jesus Christ. Everyone is a "bad guy", though some are (much) worst than others. My two cents...

Calling shenanigans on this one. Had an up-front view of Chinese corporate espionage; it's real and they respect no one's property rights. For example, ask ARM what they think. And about the Caribbean; my experience is that the lefties in the Caribbean islands blame the US for everything. Just read any day's Miami Tribune op-ed page. And honestly, nearly all countries have spies and meddle in the affairs of foreign countries. Compare how the US treated Iraq compared to how Russia is treating Ukraine. The US genuinely tries to avoid civilian injury if possible. Russia/Putin is leveling whole towns WWII-style. I'm getting tired of these arguments.

Yes sir! Lines between Good Guys and Bad Guys get very blurry!

I wonder why God told us NOT to eat the fruit of “that tree”.

Appears mankind’s arrogant arse knows better!

In 1961 our departing president warned us to be fearful of the military industrial complex; todays article shows who the bad guys really are!

China is our largest creditor and god knows the bill collector is always the bad guy when he's not tossing money around.

If USA has stayed out of WW1, WW2, would never have happened Russia would not be Communist, nor would China. However the citizens of France and UK might be speaking German. JB Morgan and a lot of other banks would be history. USA would probably still have the world's reserve currency and the deficit would be a lot less with the smaller Federal government that would have resulted in not entering WW1.

What about asking a vet ? 10% lost calves is way to much ! What about the dead cows your son in law has found last week or so ?

Aie aie aie , Bill , poor article today , actually you just wrote it because you are not in China or Russia or Iran ... I wonder if you could have wrote it there , and by the way , the Japanese did attack the USA but that you know it don’t you . There is no theory of good guys and bad guys , sauf pour vous Bill , we know we are all good sometimes and bad a lot of time , my country did a mess with South America, ( Señor Cortes ) the USA with the natives , the australiens with the Natives, the British etc etc etc , one day a hero an other day an assassin.

Now what is coming is totalitarisme ag a soit disant démocratie, if we don’t fight we may end up centuries of slavering , just look at the freedom in Russia , China and Iran , now may be Bill are you an adept of there ways to handle, ?

Yes Bill, New York had more lawyers than China before the turn of the century. I kind of agree with their system of prosecuting criminals. Who needs lawyers and prisons when you just make the criminal disappear...Would save our tax payers hundreds of Billions, which could be much better spent on supporting more welfare, which supports the birth of more criminals, which supports...ad infinitum

Worth listening to the Spectator’s Chinese Whispers podcast to get more insight into the changing relationship between the US and China - first good though patronising, then bad, then good and bad again.
