Everybody blames the gov. for our woes. I blame you and me. Demand more free stuff and you will get it at your own expense. politicians will give away the moon and the stars to get your vote. I cannot believe the founding fathers did not include term limits for all maggots in government. When the voters are standing in the back yard scratching their posterior and screaming what happened tell them to go look in the mirror ; that is where their understanding should start. You do a great service to the country Bill and I appreciate what you do. Thank you.

Khrushchev 60 years ago...."Your children's children will live under communism. You Americans are so gullible. No, you won't accept communism outright; but, we will keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you will finally wake up and find you already have Communism.” This is from a Twitter post by Nikki Halley. Fact checkers say it is false, however I can remember my mother repeatedly saying that Khrushchev said that my children would be communists, so it may be that the press interpreted what he said. At another time, Khrushchev actually said “I have already said that the words ‘We will bury capitalism’ should not be taken literally, as is done by ordinary gravediggers who carry a spade and dig graves and bury the dead. What I had in mind was the outlook for the development of human society. Socialism will inevitably succeed capitalism.” Either way, here we are.

On September 18, 1959, Khrushchev addressed the UN General Assembly. An unofficial transcript of this speech by the New York Times shows no evidence Khrushchev made the remarks attributed to him on social media ( here , here ). In the address, Khrushchev called for a gradual disarmament and an end to the Cold War. Nowhere does he outline a plan to introduce socialism to the U.S. by a piecemeal strategy https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-khrushchev-1959-quote/false-claim-nikita-khrushchev-1959-quote-to-the-united-nations-general-assembly-idUSKBN22N25D

That is not the history I read. Kennedy and Khrushchev began nuclear disarmament, that’s why they were deposed. The military, industrial, congressional complex won. And now we live in the world they created.

You seem to throw in these skillful inaccuracies, fake history at its finest. You should work for the Washington Post, they would pay you 6 figures.

U2’s flew over Russia many years without detection; on what was supposed to be the last flight, before the summit between Eisenhower and Khrushchev, it was shot down. Eisenhower had reservations about the ok. The summit never happened, maybe, it was planned. Thomas Merton called it “The Unspeakable.”

We all need to promote every 2nd Tuesday in November for the next 8 to 10 years the election campaign, "Vote for the Other Guy". Throw out every incumbent and keep doing that until those newly elected at a very minimum prohibit any donations to the election campaigns of federal and state government positions. All these elections need to be funded by public money and campaign periods drastically shortened. Best to have numerous debates of candidates with no private funding accepted. Today, it costs over a billion dollars to successfully run a presidential election campaign. Companies giving tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars to federal and state candidates expect juicy contracts in return. Leads to corruption and waste of taxpayer money. I'm probably dreaming but what exists now is leading our great nation to a really terrible ending in the not-too-distant future.

Our form of government, I fear, has a serious defect. This defect may be our undoing.

To wit, no voter to my knowledge has ever voted for a candidate who promises to reduce spending, to raise taxes and to drain the Federal trough in which so many now frolic.

And no candidate has ever been elected by promising not to bring any government benefit to the electorate.

I would have voted for that anytime in the last 50 years. I only pay I never get.

Democracy is Communism-Lite. Our Founding Father's were rightly leery of Democracy and leaned heavily on Natural Law. The Bill of Rights was essentially a Natural Law Manifesto. We now live in a society where Natural Law is virtually extinct. The only folks left advocating for Natural Law are Libertarians, labeled as Domestic Terrorists by the Statist majority within our society. So now arbitrary law rules the day and we are reaping the sordid consequences. The USSA will have its inglorious ending just like the USSR. I hope I live long enough to see the ending :-)

Oh, Lord. I'm not taking the time to answer everything in your comment. But teachers are quitting in droves because of people like you who attack them verbally. My husband is a retired teacher and you have no idea how hard their jobs are. BTW, I am not Black but have some Black relatives and understand them and what they go through. Black lives do matter and they shouldn't be shot umpteen times in the back.

I'm sure you will write back because you always have to have the last word. I'm not answering you anymore. Good by.

I've returned from an extended vacation and see your posts for the first time. It's a beautiful thing that "government school" teachers are quitting in droves. They are tired of the woke union nonsense and it's not a problem since parents are taking their kids out of government schools in droves as well. The slogan "get woke go broke" is going to happen whether people like you comprehend it or not.

I'm not going to waste my time replying to Maggots. Good-by.

Of course you won't reply because deep down, you know what I said is true. Marxism/Woke-ism/Socialism has failed every time it's been tried because it violates the laws of human nature.

Deep down I know that your beliefs about teachers and unions are abjectly false.

Do we really have to keep going like this?

Let's try it this way. As an 18 year old on summer vacation from college, my Mom, who worked for the Bottler's Union (Local 896) in Los Angeles, dispatched me to work at the Coca-Cola plant near downtown LA. (My Dad was annoyed that I was foot loose and fancy free with no classes.)

So I showed up Monday morning on time and was assigned a fairly menial task which I finished in less than two hours. I reported back to the supervisor and he was amazed. He gave me another task which I finished before lunch. Mind you, I wasn't working very hard.

By Tuesday I noticed that none of my coworkers would sit near me or speak to me in the break room (all Coke products were available and free of charge though). Wednesday during the lunch break an old timer sauntered over and sat down next to me. In a matter of fact manner he said, "Son, you need to slow down, you're working way too hard and too fast and you're taking work away from your union brothers." I looked at him in total shock and replied, "You haven't seen me work hard yet."

On Friday I failed the physical that was mandatory because the managers wanted to hire me on permanently due to my "exemplary performance". (I knew I would fail because I was born with a problem with my lower spine, yet I still ran circles around my "union brothers".) I then went on to have a great summer and had learned everything anyone needs to know about unions. That's what I know deep down.

Let's try it this way. How did we get the 8-hour work day? The 40-hour work week? Sick leave and vacation leave? Safety rules? My husband saw a video of workers in a factory in China. They were sitting down inside a press and had to duck down every cycle or they would be pressed into a pan. That's what I know about unions.

the downfall of USA and Argentina , Zimbabwe and others have taken place over fairly lengthy time periods without many people noticing at first. If the downfall is to be reversed this would also need to happen over a long period of time. Bill, what would be your 20 year manifesto to achieve a reversal in these various countries==I think this would be something you could convince voters to support, and then of course you would have to get the power to do it.

I agree with your professor in general that fascism is neither “left” nor “right” (or is both of them) which are, maybe, rather a historical context of competing perversions. In particular both communism and fascism seem to be Western (Judeo-Christian) heresies of a way to organize a society to a belief (mythical?) system of “heaven on earth” for the people.

Obviously there are other examples: The Chinese, Islamic as a caliphate, Japan’s “alliance” with Hilter, etc, not to mention the American political experiment, whose people are mercifully and painfully easily distracted in the attempt at hegemony.

I actually think Henry VIII and Tudor England with the constant mix of religion and heresy, wealth and privileges of the Court, political fiefdoms, and the mercurial personal agendas of the King himself, best describe and predict modern political thought. Not that I’m a personal admirer of Henry as a person.

Yes a Jackassery or as Horace Walpole noted, “life is a comedy for those that think.”

Walpole, like Bill perhaps, is known better for his writing and publishing than his politics. Watching the American and French revolutions from his “dandy” position in the British isles, like Bill does now again, Walpole saw the darker side, “and [life’s] a tragedy for those that feel”.

I’ll avoid the neuroscience view, sense (ha!) that’s not the beat, but I’ll suggest that we don’t choose when and where we are born, but (maybe) mostly our attitude and response toward these things. Indeed our thoughts about how the world works live only in our own minds. We can enjoy the play and go along as best we can living in gratitude for life itself, or blame and punish everyone for the misery, both ours or others, we find our fate.

But as Bernie and others note, most of us disapprove for our own different reasons, Biden and the deep state are not communists…not that communism would be a better form of totalitarianism…but rather fascists that pick the winners and losers for their own benefit and personal narcissism.
