Laramie, Wyoming
Apologies if you’re a vegetarian (or vegan) for the subject line of this short letter. While I was away in Europe I received an offer in the mail to buy a massive amount of locally raised beef for the winter. It’s been a beautiful fall week in Laramie. But the Wyoming winter is fast approaching.
I’m going to order some local beef (knowing your local farmers and ranchers is a good idea these days). But I probably won’t buy a whole cow. That’s $4,200 and comes with a LOT of beef. But I only have so much storage space. You can get half the cow for $2,300…and there are enough chuck roasts, bavette steaks, sirloin steaks, and bone-in New York strip steaks to last the winter (not to mention ground beef, sirloin tips, and cube steaks).
Or, if meat isn’t your thing, you could stock up on the last bottles remaining from Bill’s 2022 Tacana Malbec vintage.
While I was away I received a note from the folks who run Bonner Private Wines (including Bill’s son Will) that there were just under 1,400 bottles of the 2022 vintage left (1,391 to be exact). Apparently the limited supply is due to a bulk purchase from a private buyer. Some people really like this wine.
I like it too, of course. I’ll be stocking up for the winter. In my experience, the high-altitude Malbec (which needs to breathe for at least an hour before you drink it) goes best with red meat. Is it a small luxury purchase in a world gone mad? Probably so. But it’s a nice way to ride out the coming winter in style.
Will and his partners have recently raised prices by 10% to keep up with inflation. But for BPR readers, they’ve waived the price increase. You can save up to $420 if your order is placed before the Tacana is gone. I’ve just placed my order. And as a reminder, in the interests of full transparency, BPR receives a small royalty on any sales from this note.
Save a cow. Order some wine today. While it lasts.
Until Friday,
Dan
PS Also apologies if you’re not a wine drinker. And I’m sorry to say that it is still not possible to ship the Tacana Malbec outside the United States. This offer is good only for our readers in America. We don’t accept any paid advertising from financial service providers, we’re happy to pass on special offers from our friends at Bonner Private Wines.
