Bill,this series on AI is very interesting and thought provoking. At the root,boiled down,I think it leads to the pride of man thinking he can create on a level with God. What folly that is. I’m constantly reminded of Romans 1:22 which states “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.”
We should never forget the reason we were created and that is to give God our creator glory. This is the same God we will at some point ,after our brief stint on earth stand before and give account of our life on earth. What do earths riches account for on that day?And how much power and control does the most powerful man on earth have after his physical death?It’s been said the ground at the foot of the cross is level.
Well Bill that's a nice way to end the week. Like all technology, it can be used for good or bad...time will tell which way the robots take us. They can replace workers, soldiers, and police officers. It almost makes me believe the "Borg" from Star Trek has arrived..... but we'll have to wait and see on that one. Impressive but it makes me think the tower of Babel has has been approached again. The first time humans thought they were God it didn't end well.
I also note that Steve McQueen died from Mesothelioma from Asbestos he was exposed to on troop carriers taking him to Europe and WW2. Meso is awful and has a 30 year latency.....trust me I know and lived in fear for 30-40 years as I served on one old ship a Gehring class Destroyer commissioned in early 1945 and HIGHLY decorated vessel in WW2 Korea and Vietnam, and had asbestos EXPOSED everywhere and so I was frozen in fear a long time...and I think I escaped it. Meso does that. It can kill you or just skip you. A mystery why SOME get it in same exposure (rooms, schools, churches and vessels (pipe fittings and boiler covers and fire retardants) and others DONT. I know this as fact. I digress.
Indeed Bill and I concur with you largely here. We DONT know but we can surmise from what is unfolding before us. Can AI think into the future accurately with unknown unknowns? I dont know. I read that AI will cure cancer within a year. EVERY KIND OF CANCER and most difficult cases. IN SECONDS. Ditto Diabetes and most all diseases, find a cure and less invasive means to do it and we may live a LOT longer as a result....but we are also running out of FOOD....FISH FOWL AND CATTLE AND HOGS and soil...not all soil can produce edible food..and Potable Water as BILL IS FINDING OUT IN ARGENTINA after 20 years of trying. Can AI predict the END OF TIMES? I think it will be very close. YES. Trump despite his many obvious faults has a sense of this and is trying save humanity from NUCLEAR ARMAGGEDON....using all sorts of tools, being friends with Xi and Putin and KIm and now the Ayatollah in Tehran among them...trying to find peace, and whence three weeks ago got castigated by the Pope got the Holy Father's PRAISE THIS WEEK. Can Trump end Terrorism? He is trying. Can Trump end the war in Ukraine? He is trying. Can he end the Cartels? He is trying. Can he end narco terrorism and poisoning our youth? He is trying. I give him credit for trying. He knows HIS DAYS ARE NUMBERED. BELIEVE ME. Both in real and political terms HE IS IN A BIG FAT HURRY because of it. I commend him for TRYING though I disagree on his means of doing it. He is the BOSS. ELECTED BOSS. OUR CONSTITUTION MAKES HIM THE BOSS. He has almost unlimited power as he told an interviewer this week.....once in office EVERY president figures that out...the fine print and the fuzzy areas between the lines of the Constitution allow it. And then Congress lives in FEAR of him. As they often do....every President. We have checks and balances in our system but its not perfect. The LEFT is wrong to accuse Trump of being a KING and DESPOT. He is no different from all of them. OBAMA was a DESPOT AND KING and did ENORMOUS DAMAGE...perhaps the most damage of all...worse than Carter and Clinton COMBINED. ALMOST LETHAL...by design as he stated at UChicago Law School. A FALSE PROPHET IF EVER THERE WAS ONE.
BUT I AM WAITING ON AI TO GIVE ANSWERS. ACCURATE ONES. THE ONES WE CONSUMERS HAVE NOW ARE NOTORIOUSLY WRONG. OFTEN. SOMETIMES ABJECT LIES. HOW IS THAT? HUMANS LIE TO.
Bill’s series on the value of AI this week is interesting, of little value to wealth development and thought provoking. It is, of course, speculation at its finest, but then again he has never lacked for speculation. He did spare DJT his wrath for a change. I don’t mind Bill wasting my time reading drivel, after all I am a junkie to his written word as are many of his subscribers. I am also pleased that he has spared us his political claptrap given that he seems to lean a bit left in his prose. I, also, put little significance in his ”assessment” on AI given his speculation serves as warnings for something that may not happen; although, his dire predictions may happen along side the positive aspects of AI that one hopes comes from it. AI’s inevitable insertion into this world’s existence will greatly affect everything we know about today. Will it be bad? Most certainly for someone. Will it be a boon for humanity? Most certainly for some folks. Will it be the end of civilization and the beginning of the Matrix? Hopefully not, but certainly not in my lifetime. Beyond that, the responsibility to manage AI falls on our children and more likely our grandchildren. Given that the vast majority of the US youth accept technology as a plus in their lives, I suspect they will walk into the AI-dominated world with both eyes wide open. I also suspect they are not reading the sage, Bill Bonner. Better widen your audience, Bill, or your words of warning will end up in the electronic trash can.
