We will soon get to see what effect a sudden uptick in oil prices will actually have. Will it send modern economies into recession? And when investors see it depressing corporate earnings?
So the Administration is having a bit of a situation, but President Trump says everything’s under control. That’s usually what a man says right before the floor disappears. He likes to run foreign policy like a guy texting his ex at 2 AM. No plan, just vibes. Aggressive confusing vibes.
That’s hilarious Bill, “We obliterated them, twice” That’s not a victory lap, that’s a cry for help. If you have to obliterate the same thing twice, maybe you’re just…bad at obliterating.
Gas prices go up and people say it’s like a pay cut. I like that. Nothing says progress like working harder to afford less. They are calling it a temporary inconvenience. Yeah, temporary…just like gravity.
Let’s talk about the Navy escort plan.
“We’ll protect ships!”
With what? A navy that’s outnumbered by drones that cost less than a used microwave? You’re basically saying: “We’ll defend billion-dollar tankers with hope and a sternly worded tweet”
It’s like…you ever declare yourself the winner of a race…while still running…in the wrong direction?
Our so-called allies? Every formidable ally took one look and said, “Yeah…we’re gonna sit this one out and watch you speedrun economic collapse.”
But I don’t know, maybe it all works out. Maybe Trump figures it out. Or maybe he just keeps doing exactly what he’s doing…which historically has been a very reliable way to make things worse.

I will but am mystified why you or anyone for that matter endorses DJT's costly ready-fire-aim conduct and inflexible policies; attacking and murdering US citizens with his army of masked Brown Shirts; waging a costly war on behalf of another country and refusing to rescue defeated belligerents from drowning. There are few public personas more reprehensible than this convicted felon, our disingenuous current president.
The REAL question Bill should examine is: Where are Greta Thunderburg and Al Gore, who should be praising the Iranians for weaning the world off oil by denying it to them??
Ya know Bill I have noticed over the years of reading your writings that you tend to make a mountain out of a mole hill when it is ideologically favorable. The 1973 OAPEC oil embargo created singnicanly more stress on the American economy vis-a-vis today's oil slow down with its the knee-jerk gas price increase. In 1973 I was waiting in a gas line in my precious 1971 240Z silver on black for a bit of gas. I was 28 years of age. I did not understand what was occurring on the international stage and I did not care. I just adjusted and accommodated my schedule and moved on with my life, like most people are doing today. Today's oil situation is not dire, rather it is just another opportunity to adapt, adjust and move one's life forward. But this is not true for the ideological left. Why? Because they seize the moment to discredit the conservative agenda and everything it represents. And so the yin and yang continues, and you Bill, grab the headlines and bend them to fit your narrative no matter the cost to the country.
Tom, I was working in the fertilizer industry in 1973. We took advantage of the Arab Oil Embargo, by decreasing our availability and raising our prices to the sky. Sure, the average person was able to " I just adjusted and accommodated my schedule".
This coming "2025-???" Hormuz Straights closure is going to demand a world-wide "adjustment and accommodation to its schedule". That is a big difference and it's not going to be cheap or pretty.
I like Charlie Garcias plan seize Karg Island and lease the island for 99 years. Oil then flows based on good behaviour. If Iran misbehaves turn the taps lower, it if behaves open the spiggots full tilt.
No discussion, no negotiation, absolute money management for 99 years. Its a perfect can kick for ours and the next generation.
Absolutely stunning plan - EXCEPT there is no way to "seize" the Island. People are delusional to think that America has the ability to just waltz in - after all we are AMERICA and all powerful. Everybody is scarced of us - well, EXCEPT, Iran and numerous other Asian countries. Our military is a shadow of its former self and the technology and current strategic plan of Iran is making us look like idiots. Trump has found a way to sink the American Era in a flash. Trump proclaims again and again - We Won - and then.........other delusional chaos until Congress finally gets the balls to kick his butt out. And, from this ol' man's perspective - that can't come soon enough!
An, you make fun and interesting points. Though I am not too sure of your logic or facts. But to be fair, I am very sure where you stand politically. That counts for something right?
I am a conservative - don't care much for the left or the right. The Founding Fathers make sense to me. But, unfortunately, the world and government change over time. Limited government was the "thought" but as we now know that is a fantasy. Our government is populated by "permanent" politicians that only care about getting re-elected and lining their own pockets. The Constitution no longer is followed. Agreements and international laws are just temporary and for the moment. For the U.S. as this stage in its Empire, it is all downhill and no stopping it. The key for us peons is to figure out how to prepare for what is coming and it ain't going to be pretty.
Charlie Garcias been watching too many replays of "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre". Sounds like his Karg Island take-over plan is as simple as -- "Badges, we don't need no stinking badges".
Best to spend any time left, stacking gold and silver. This sh#t show is not going to end well.
If America won in Afghanistan, II must have slept through the victory parade
In my dream I saw America humbled, spending trillions to defeat the Taliban who waltzed back into power as America's "allies" were left up the creek without a paddle, probably one of the reasons they're now saying "not my circus, not my monkeys" this time around.
Per NYT minutes ago: "Joe Kent, one of the United States’ top counterterrorism officials [actual title is Director of the United States National Counterterrorism Center], announced his resignation on Tuesday, citing his opposition to the Iran war and what he said was Israel’s influence over the Trump administration’s policies." That sure instills confidence in this Administrations "strategy". And for those who think Mr. Kent is a woke weenie, per Wiki: "Joseph Clay Kent is an American politician, former United States Army warrant officer, and former Central Intelligence Agency paramilitary officer who served as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center from 2025 to 2026. He is a member of the Republican Party."
As this continues, it wouldn't be a surprise to see senior military officers especially in the Marine Corps resign instead of continuing following the orders of the Delusional in Chief.
Indeed, the entire military should resign before following these ILLEGAL orders of the POTUS and his warmonger SOW or be court- martialed for following illegal orders .
Unfortunately few have the moral compass to follow their hearts. They have family, they have careers, they have their futures - so they do they follow orders regardless. Germans who were involved in killings Jews were tried, convicted, and put to death - although they were just "following" orders. What the chances of those doing the same today in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, or even abandoning the Iranian sailors left in the water from the ship sank off of Sri Lanka will find the same fate. Probably not but doesn't mean they shouldn't.
Little Joe Kent might be a longtime leaker of possibly classified info. He's been under investigation for that since before he resigned. Sounds like he’s desperately trying to repackage himself has a noble, anti-Trump whistleblower.
Mr. Bonner keeps talking about our European allies. The progressive political elite of Europe are not our allies. The EU, WHO, and WEF are not our allies. They are not even the allies of Europeans. Always a head scratcher that. The concept of globalism has been usurped and corroded by a concentrated group of political savages and know-it-alls.
The last "wars" we followed America to resulted in destroying WMD that didnt exist, ensuring the Taliban retained power in Afghanistan (after you ran away without telling us) and "obliterating Iran's nuclear arsenal for the second time".
Then you threatened to invade the sovereign territory of a fellow NATO member and rewrote history to say that no non-American blood was spilled on those reckless follies.
Alliances are supposed to be built on trust. You can’t keep dragging your allies into wars, rewriting what happened, and then act surprised when they start reading the small print before signing up to the next one.
Your comment is not addressing my comment. I didn't express an opinion on any of the points you are making here. We seem to be agreeing that we don't make good allies. My problem is the progressive political elite of Western Europe. The Davos crowd. The open border insanity. The self-destructive climate mandates. NATO expansion. And the worst offense may be the tyrannical censorship we are witnessing in England, France, and Germany. Unfortunately, America has faced the exact same problems. But to address your point...I don't think anyone reading Bonner Private Research supports big government or foreign wars. That's why we started reading him. But unless you own an army, you really don't get a say. Orwell's 1984 remains the path I see the whole world moving towards.
I don't think that the US will pack up and go home without regime change, but what if we did? Israel will not quit only to have to do the same thing again and again over the decades. Since Iran has now attacked; Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, Oman, the UAE, Iraq and Turkey, Israel is likely to have a lot of help in ensuring a friendly Iran.
I agree Oom, the Iranians won't stop until there are regime changes in Israel and in the U.S. The Middle East will send the U.S. packing and Israel will be destroyed - literally. There is no saving Israel - it has and continues to create such horrific crimes to be beyond saving. For the World to be at peace - Israel must be bombed asunder.
No one can take these fools (Ol' LSO, Jimm, Cartero, etc.) seriously. They live in an echo chamber of stupidity. The morale in the military has never been higher. When this is over (and it will be soon) they will have nothing more to say.
I wonder how Israel got that way? People like you might provide a clue. Horrific crimes have been committed by every nation and all groups of people throughout history. Of course you already know this. We live in an age where morality is boiled down to personal preference.
I need to ask my sister, she is psychologist. Given the holocaust wasn't all that long ago and how millions of Jews were murdered, it is hard to imagine how many hard-line zionists there are happily murdering Palestinians and Arabs all around the Middle East. Throughout history this has been repeated and repeated. Different groups feel righteously compelled to kill other groups with wanton abandonment and without remorse or any moral compass. Just slaughter them. Women, children - doesn't matter. Unfortunately, it appears to be a continuing trait of human nature and the world has come to understand human nature never changes. Us humans have a truly ugly side.
Yeah & to put it in perspective…GHENGIS KHAN (chatgpt.com) states thar he & his horsemen & archets with their very powerful bows in the 13-14th centuries killed 30 million! Not to mention the huge # of offspring more rape still carrying HIS DNA albeit now somewhat diluted!

As Martin Armstrong pointed out, alliances are being formed, and Russia and China aren’t going to mind watching the US become mired in another long war!
Yep, plus the U.S. can print so much money it won't matter. America will go from "bomb, bomb, bomb" to "print, print, print" as the rest of the World streaks towards de-dollarization. The world it is a-changin' and in a horrific way for America and the rest of the West.

Well, I don’t know about foreign policy, but if falling outta bed is more dangerous than Iran, I think the real enemy is bedtime.
And if cardiac arrest during sex is up there too, I guess the safest strategy is just stay awake and unattractive.

99 years, huh?
So, that puts the twenty-plus years, and $Trillions in Afghanistan in perspective - it was a training period for the real invasion and occupation.
Train against easily beaten tribesmen, before taking on a country that has much better technology.
Now I get it - and all this time I thought the USA wasn't able to plan long-term. I stand educated about the brilliance of Washington.
I nearly missed the sarcasm there 😃

"After all, they deserve to celebrate; they’ve ‘obliterated’ Iran’s nuclear capacity twice!"
~Bill Bonner
Ideally we should forget that announcement from last summer. For those of us more intellectually pliable, there's this:
"Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them."
~George Orwell
Not a perfect fit, but I feel that it's close enough.
I think we have been living in "1984" for a long time.

My forecast: The US Marine contingent en route to the area will invade, capture and control the Iranian side of the Strait of Hormuz.
Spoken like a true MAGA. And, the vast majority of people with experience say - Fat Chance. Dead Marines walking is what will happen.
It's my forecast; not my desire.
Should an invasion occur, the Mullahs will use it to rally the enormous number of disaffected Iranians to defend their homeland.
The better option would have been to help Iranian dissidents to overthrow the Shiite Mullahs and their armed thugs who keep them in power.
Now, we have another unnecessary war with a third Middle Eastern country.
The common denominator of these wars is none of these three Middle Eastern countries with which we waged war were a threat to the USA.
And, to add insult to injury, for years Pakistan -- our ostensible ally -- hid the architect of 9/11.
He was a Saudi and Sunni Moslem who had relatives living in Michigan, no less -- Osma Bin Laden
That is no doubt the intent.
Would not surprise me.
