Peak civilization. Borders, language and culture is now just a quaint memory. A mongrelized slave class ruled by a relatively tiny cabal is the future. It's painful watching it unfold in real time, especially if you have kids.
Approaching the winter of our lives; If you have done life well the little inconveniences that accompany you in the last years of your life are nothing more than interesting little signs of a life well lived.
You are like the old man who went to the doctor complaining of noiseless and non odor producing farts. A hearing aide and some antibiotics fixed both problems.
I was just thinking it might be time to ease out of my hermit lifestyle. Thankfully, I now see how foolish that would be. I do have to go to the post office though. But that should be enough for this month. Thanks for the reminder... and the laughs.
Yeah, I appreciate your venting. Being a 73 year old German-American I have had to internalize the principle of “just say something nice” and it’s been working!🫶🏼
That's it, the world's coming to an end when you can't get an expresso from an expresso maker in Italy. That's where I draw the line. Watered down expresso is probably caused by AI, those damn computers taking our pleasures away already. Time to turn off the power, shoot holes in the data center transformers and concrete the water supply pipes. That will teach them to water down my expresso...
Bill, Thank you. This is the funniest thing I have read in a long, long time. I am 80 years old and still practicing law full time, so I still have my marbles. I laughed so hard my stomach was aching. The reason it is so funny is, it is so true. I think I have experienced personally everything you mentioned. I immediately forwarded this to my much younger (and still beautiful) 67-year-old wife because she has heard me kvetch about all the same subjects, especially loud restaurants when I am always asking my wife and the other couple at our table to speak louder, even though in a normal setting I can still hear pretty well.
Thanks for using the old Yiddish word "Kvetch" which literally translates to "squeeze" or "stress" but commonly means (as you correctly meant) to whine and to complain. Even Abraham kvetched to G-d thousands of years ago:
Quoting from and giving credit to Chabad.com (I cannot Italicize in this format):
We see the same trait in Abraham, the first Jew. G‑d told Abraham that He was about to destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorra, whose inhabitants had become morally depraved. Rather than accept the Divine judgement with equanimity, Abraham questioned his Maker.
“Can it be that He who judges the entire land will not do right?” he probed as he bargained with G‑d to spare the denizens of Sodom if only there would be some righteous people among them. Ultimately, Abraham’s bid was unsuccessful, but he bequeathed us with something priceless: the knowledge that if G‑d allowed you to see something wrong, do whatever you can to rectify the situation, even if it means kvetching to G‑d.
Nuclear holocaust, Ai takeover, Global catastrophic ocean rise flooding, Killer asteroid, calamitous ozone depletion, killer bees, peak oil, apocalyptic micro plastic saturation, one world order take-over…
My greatest concern is that it doesn’t all happen in one afternoon…
Pure Bonner! Still laughing— and crying. I’m 79 and live in a very similar world.

Never forget, these are “the good ole days”

I hear ya Bill. When I first read "Buttonholes are smaller", I left out the "on", and was wondering what the hell you were talking about.
That's one of the best coverage of day to day activities you have ever had. So true in almost every event!!!!

Ditto … and I can’t report any good news from my travels thru Italy 🇮🇹
I’m seeing a disturbing trend of cafes using coffee pods instead of a grinder to make my espresso ☕️

You taking writing lessons from Joel Bowman, or back to the Bonner we love?
OMG! I laughed so hard I nearly choked on my pills! My husband thought I was having a heart attack!

Oh Bill THANK YOU!!! I am so glad I am not the only one who suffers like this. Enjoy your weekend.
