According to the Bible, it is necessary to believe in Jesus as a Savior. John 6:29b This is the work of God, that you believe on Him (Jesus) whom He (God) sent.

I grew up in a cult, and now I'm agnostic and a fully sovereign individual who believes in strong values and work ethic, family, friendship, community, limited government, free markets, meritocracy, the rule of law, peace, and the founding principles of the United States.

I respect a person's beliefs and the Judeo-Christian influence on our founding, culture, and social stability. However, I will never submit to religious statism and the tactics of guilt, shame, and fear to comply under the guise of good intentions or virtue.

I supposedly have free will. However, despite sharing the same Christian values, if I reject God's grace and the sacrifice of His son, I will burn in Hell for eternity. Is that really a free choice?

If that reserves a spot in Hell for me, so be it! I would expect nothing less from a loving God who ignored the pleas of an innocent, traumatized child for years and allowed and condoned the slaughter of countless men, women, and children throughout history in His name.

And don't give me this bullshit about the earth being the Devil's domain or me being a mere mortal having no right to question a superior being and creator of the universe!

And to think Bill, you were willing to jeopardize the future of these sweet little grandchildren for a wrong and misguided judgment on the future of America! I know you hate Trump and love Kamala, but when you speak of cutting the budget and spending, Trump is the only hope as we see with his choices of his cabinet and leadership. We did see how Harris donated billions of her fraudulent fund money to every corrupt black fraud and cause available! Yes Bill, we don’t know what the future with President Trump holds, but it’s very evident from her sick and demented woke/globalist agenda what Harris would have done for the future of your sweet little angels…and even God wouldn’t be able to help them, since you are not sure what you believe 🤔

Everyone tends to want a simple answer to complex questions, but the simple answers do not help us understand the underlying issues and challenges. Your grandson may have been bored by your answer (or perhaps not!), but in your answer you exposed the way we need to think about such questions, breaking them down into simpler parts, and trying to understand the parts.

When a young, impressionable and admiring grandson asks the most basic and simple question, “Do you believe in God?”, a convoluted, philosphical answer is not necessary. Just answer Yes or No. When Kamala Harris was asked if she would do anything differently than her boss had done, she didn‘t launch into some word salad explanation she is so infamous for doing. She simply answered in essence, ”No.“ Even Santan believes in God. He may not trust and obey God, but he knows God exists.

“God doesn’t need me to believe. Or not believe. I’m just a tiny minnow caught in God’s great net, waiting for Him to haul me up." Sad, not an intelligent statement like most that I read on this site. God won't haul one up if there is no belief/faith according to HIS word.

Oh, contraire! That statement - "God won't haul one up if there is no belief/faith" is so sad. From that point of view, someone raised in a tribe that has no view of a "God" is condemned to hell is pure nonsense. As always, Ol' Bill is spot-on!

Well, LSO, to you and your upvoters I would just say that the Bible specifically says the opposite of what you just so glibly asserted. Those condemned to hell are the ones that hear the Word (or have ACCESS) and choose not to believe it. You're gonna need some better ways to trash Relationship with God and His Word - that one is tiredly overused and only works on the still-ignorant folks who have never made the slightest effort to investigate what Salvation is all about...

Brother Paul, My wood chopping days are over. I live in Florida. I even wrapped it in fiberglass. I guess I used to be too strong and accurate. Chopping wood 🪵 gives you a sense of power and accomplishment. I would feed the stove at 2 in the morning. In upstate NY it took 15 cords a winter, in MD, 2 cords.

The Duct Tape things works extremely well as a field-expedient method to treat a bad cut or slice. Clean the area well, wrap it as tight as you can stand and leave it on 48 hours. The injury will stay sealed (usually) if you take the tape off slowly on day 2 and then thoroughly disinfect...

I think your grandson needs to explore the process of how an element that is only 0.04% of the atmosphere can have any negligible or even measurable effects on the climate temperature

The professional engineers among us who have been schooled in thermodynamics and heat transfer can make mincemeat of that fallacy in minutes. There is also a good case to be made that CO2 is actually a coolant, although that is just as negligible and immeasurable.

The question put Bill is better asked, "Do you believe in the gods of religion?" To rightly answer the question one must research if what the have come to believe is in fact true. This is something we as human's very rarely do, for many reasons one being it's far easier to walk the popular path to be included within society, to seamlessly fit into one's group. The same can be said for politics neither are discussed in polite company because under the scrutiny of logic and evidence no religion or political belief can be defended, and no one wants to risk losing their faith in either system.

My anti religion stance is in alignment with Yahowah's teaching. The Latin Vulgate is the basis of all Christian bibles. Contrary to popular belief all subsequent translations are revision of the Vulgate. Jerome in his introduction to the gospels wrote Pope Damasus defending his transitional work claiming his charge was to create a new work from the old one that would confirm and support Roman church doctrines. He added "No two Greek manuscripts used were in agreement, while the old Latin texts were highly conflicting deemed useless.

The basis of Catholicism’s condemnation of those Protestants who claim “Sola Scriptoria.” Popes consider themselves authorized to alter, even completely change, God’s directions. While Protestants claiming "Scriptures alone" in fact ignore and have classified Yahowah's Hebrew Towrah annulled by the teachings in their Greek NT. While Christian's in general used their bible not to come to know God better but to prove their faith is not false, they do so by twisting Towrah verses fit their religion, and especially to support the author of their religion Paul of Tarsus.

Rabbis who created modern Judaism teach the “Oral Law” they claim that G-d handed the written Torah to Moses while the people created their own oral variation. Rabbis were especially cunning, openly claiming Yah’s authority for themselves by outvoting and over-shouting God.

In Socialist Secular Humanism, man claims God never existed, making mankind the ultimate authority, and thereby rendering Yahowah’s message moot.

In Islam, Allah was modeled after Satan, so everything Yahowah said was simply contradicted.

It has become a popular appeal. “So what if God set the Shabat apart? We want Friday, or Sunday, or the weekend,” as the case may be. “So what if God invited us to observe the seven Miqra’ey (times to approach)? We prefer Easter, Ramadan, Hanukah, or May Day.” “So what if God chose the name Yahowah? We prefer Mother Nature, Ha Shem, Allah, Jesus, Jehovah, Buddha, or the Lord.”

As you travel along life’s way, and you confront a tradition or teaching that is somehow attributed to God, ask yourself: Has God said this? Or as is the case with the Talmud, New Testament, and Quran, is what is being claimed a corruption or counterfeit of something God actually stated?

In defense of mankind remaining in ignorance of Yahowah, religion has done a band of job of mucking up the truth while making it near impossible to know God. Solomon while dedicating the temple prophesied God's people would fall away, stray into religion, become totally alienated they would forget their God. However, one day remembering His promises made to Abraham God would call out to His people, forced to do so through a lowly gentile as there was not a single Jew willing to listen. I leave you with the only candidate that has in the last 3000 fit this description, an author with 35 books on the shelf provided free of charge all created to call God's people back to their God before it is too late to know Him. Many are called few will listen, fewer will take action.

Very knowledgeable Denis, thank you 🙏 Knowledge sent down through generations and generations of man. Probably not one truth In anything for many generations, but great use for those who want control. I don’t believe God and faith is so complicated as man has claimed over the centuries, but is more of an individual belief that is so simple that even man can comprehend. It’s how we accept or reject the choice of good or evil that will determine our own destiny, the destiny of our children and our future with God. We both may be light years away from the truth, but it’s our own choice of what we believe, and everything comes down to that simple fact.

Meh - just more ignorant bigotry from our host. I've said it before and I'll say it again - the attitude of Florida Man will be one of the main things that saves civilization. It boils down to an strong affinity for Reality and the lack of a rat's ass regarding Feelings.

StarboardEdge's avatar

Hi Don,

Nope - definitely not more intelligent. What I was trying to say is there is an overall attitude that reflects itself by people seeing Reality for what it is, not generally buying into the BS that comes attached with pretty much EVERYTHING these days, and taking concrete action to keep things "proper" while not being afraid to right wrong situations - all without giving two shits about anybody's feelings or mental delusions. Floridians are not unique in this attitude - it actually used to be an American thing, as you know. Also, a healthy dose of Skepticism for all things coming from the "government" and/or "media" is prevalent. I'm rather certain that the same, or very similar attitude exists in the majority of States around the Country - it has just been muted and made to appear backward by a lying, deceiving "media", federal government and academia.

I am strictly speaking about men and women that were raised here in this environment, not transplants, and these are just my impressions after living and working all around the state in the last 55+ years...
