Oh, Bongo Bill cries his crocodile tears about America stating he can find only the rare exception in a politician that wants to balance the budget or even dare read the Declaration of Independence. Yet, in my years of reading his column, Bill never has discussed the foundational principle that the USA was founded on - individual rights. He goes on about this and that, but never individual rights. Bill is right that our country is in dire straits. Too many want to feed at the public trough instead of totally phasing out the welfare state. The founders of this country did not create the Salvation Army, they created a country whose predominate mission is to defend individual rights, and stealing from some to give to others is not that. There are still plenty of people who believe in this principle of individual rights in our country. Their voices need to heard and amplified. Instead, they are mainly being drowned out by the progressive left. This progressive left probably will not be defeated until we take away their source of nourishment - the government schools.
I am optimistic that the battle can be eventually won if people understand the principle of individual rights as opposed to the progressive culture and their collectivized rights. It will not be easy. It will take education and awareness, but it is the only way. Bonner's negativity doesn't solve anything. Only a positive message will.
Perhaps it's not just the leftists involved in stealing from some to give to others. Those lobbyists in DC work both sides of the fence begging for tax dollars. Clear case in point is the lobbying of AIPAC to steal money from US taxpayers to give to Israel. Even worse is that conservatives who decry socialism have no problem sending our tax dollars to a country with socialized medicine at the same time they tell us we don't want a system like that.
It is unfair to only bring up AIPAC. Many foreign and American lobbyists go after the tax money. As far as Israel being socialized; this may work in very small countries. It would be impossible in a country as large as the US. We do have some forms of socialism in the US; it doesn’t work very efficiently. If you are going to critisize BE FAIR. Just read about the community in Minnesota that STOLE billions. AP
It's a simple point that it's not a question of the progressive left when it comes to taking money from taxpayers and giving it to others. Does it make any sense to send our tax dollars to a country with socialized medicine at the same time the politicians tell us that socialized medicine is bad and many Americans struggle with medical debt? It doesn't matter which country it is, if they can afford socialized medicine they shouldn't need nor be given our tax dollars.
Abe, here's a question for you. Why did JFK want AIPAC'S predecessor, the American Zionist Council, to register as a foreign agent? But I wish they would outlaw all lobbying. Why should these lobbyists have more access to CONgress than we the taxpayers?
There are 1000 different PACs in America trying to steal money for their own political reasons.. but you make AIPAC the villain.. typical anti Jew bullshit. If we’re controlling the world and the U.S. with .02% of the world’s population, we’re doing a very bad job.. which is surprising since we’ve been controlling the world since caveman times.
Anti Jew? I simply stated that the CONgress is sending our tax dollars to a country with socialized medicine and highly subsidized higher education while at the same time our politicians tell us we don't want or need socialized medicine. Maybe that's anti foreign aid but it has nothing to do with Judaism. I would simply prefer that our tax dollars be used for the benefit of the US taxpayers, especially those drowning in medical debt.
I am, I believe, of your generation and have been reading your writing for 30 years or more. I mostly acknowledge the changes in our country about which you write. I ask myself what we senior citizens can do to help fix it. I try to be a good influence on people with whom I come in contact; friends, children, grand children. You do a good job describing the problems. How about your take on some possible solutions. How can we pool our collective wisdom and experience to change things for the better. For a start let's recommend less T.V. news and social media scrolling.
Good luck with that. As a senior as well, it is all we can do but to change what is going on in our government won't happen until the huge crisis coming arrives. Those "elites" are only thinking about themselves - not about us peons. And, unfortunately today, the rule of law is only by the Executive Emergency Order. Unbelievable to this ol' man. Congress and the Supreme Court - the other two branches of government - have gone into hiding. Understand that from Congress after all they are all bought and paid for - but the Supreme Court I was hoping above that - apparently not. Us ol' farts should probably favor the song - "Don't cry for me, America!" Merry Christmas!
Ol’ Man. We will not be able to change what our government does. Corruption to the core from top to bottom. We live in a me me society; suck the big ‘tit’ as much as possible. The only change we can make is to ourselves. Find your little corner of the world to live your life in peace and tranquility. AP
Abe, I could not agree with you more. There is nothing we peons can do but hunker down, stay out of the way, and try to live a good life. Thank you for that thought!
Whatever is coming is coming. That's not just pontificating, it's fact. I imagine that rather than stay out of the way, I'll somehow end up in the middle of it. Even Rhett Butler had to concede that. Best always. PM
more bullshit from this ol pos - not worth the read. He thinks he knows all. HE thinks he is a FOK. Fountain of Knowledge, in the end he is a windbag trying to drum up support for his tired, out dated positions. Now that we have a conservative Supreme court, this tired ol man does nothing, and i mean nothing but complain. Probably looks like trump which is another reason he has TD severely.
Bet you don’t live in France where all the Muslims are.. you’re an insulated insufferable elite Bill.. but you try to pretend otherwise.. Why not stay out of the U.S. permanently.. it’s a win win for everyone.
What exactly makes him insufferable? And who would win, and how, if he were to leave the U.S. permanently? This isn't an attempt to troll you or be annoying. I'm curious.
As a friendly suggestion, if Bill annoyed me as he seems to annoy you, I like to think I'd stop reading his posts. As Paul would say, Best Always.
I feel exactly as Bill does and I and a 67 year old carpenter from Virginia who does not understand how have 38 trillion in debt and not one member of our "ruling class" will talk about it. Gaining one trillion in debt every 100 days, giving handouts to the 1% while the middle and lower classes are having insurance canceled, and all this while part of the White House is knocked down for a huge ballroom? Mr. Redstone, you are deeply confused and probably deeply ignorant as well.
It's not only the 1% who gets the handouts, the populace has learned to keep voting themselves more and more from the federal gov't. In order to save the republic we need an austerity budget for the next 40 years. We can't continue to feed everyone with their hands out. Do away with pork, grants and have people show a genuine need for their handouts. It'll never happen.
First of all, Vance said we need to be more vetting on who we allow into the US, not according to who Vance wants. Second, the ballroom is being paid by Trump, not federal funds.
So Richard, just where would you buy and settle in to live several months a year if you moved to France. Something tells me that where "all the Muslims are" would not be your choice.
Have you ever lived in a foreign country? I have - my wife, 2 children lived and worked in Cali, Colombia 2 years, and Mexico City for 5 years. And no, we did not reside in "the Barrios". We lived in comfortable neighborhoods in both locations, and I would totally reject being called an "Insufferable elite" for where we lived.
Correct, France is not the France of the 1960s 70s or 80s. Most western countries are no longer what they used to do.
The woke ideology that pervades the governmental elites , has created an unstable mix of a population that refuses to integrate culturally. Indeed, a newer population that is openly trying to destroy the existing one. Maybe Mr. Bonner should spend more time in our blue cities. America has indeed left him as stated.
It's not the result of Donald Trump or j. D, Vance, it's the result of the policies that he and his colleagues hold in esteem.
Maybe Mr. Bonner? I believe you are Mr. Bonner and I don't think you have the courage to live in Americas bluest cities. Sure Baltimore is one, and probably on the needy list as well. But you are not in Baltimore, I bet you are in the burbs, probably have property near Stansberry out in the farm lands of western Baltimore county, thus claiming Baltimore as your current location.. Very savvy William.
Bonner’s “accurate description” of the world is his opinion. His opinion is about as worthless as.. well you can fill in the blanks. I get the service because I value the other two guy’s research.. from now on, I’ll just stop reading Bonner,
I also subscribe to read other member opinions. This gives me a real feeling of how much of the real Americans think. Very little of what Bonner says is meaningful to me; he is full of ______ most of the time. AP
Beyond brilliant, Bill. Thank you for providing the basis of our disappointment with our homeland: its offhanded abandonment of the do- and give-anything spirit through WWII. Thats what made the rest of the world love not only “America” but each of us—you and I and every other American who wanders abroad. Who among us wouldn’t want to be apart of THAT? Even today, as the true depth of darkness and evil driving our government and military leaders since the 1950’s is uncovered so obviously, most foreigners still believe in the America you describe and they love us and believe in us just because we are Americans. Yesterday I flew to NYC and take a Chinese friend to realize his dream of visiting the Statue of Liberty. For 22 years he hasn’t felt he could do enough for my partner and me in China. Trump and his hate mongering followers don’t disturb him in the least. Bill tells us why this is. Thank you, Bill. BTW, I blame the Dulles brothers for our nation’s abandonment of its foundational values.
Ed, spot-on. The vast majority are deaf to what has happened to our country by those in power to protect us. So sad.........and the World has turned away. Between stealing Russia's funds/assets, murder on international water, and piracy - the U.S. has become a stinkhole. Hard to grasp how fast and low America's morals have become.
so this tired ol man would rather allow the drug runners in to our country. He fails to see nothing else worked. They have found loop holes in our own system that get them deported, so they can run again, have cases tossed on technicalities etc. Nothing else worked, get that through your thick demented ol head (notice i did not say brain). BTW, drugs coming in by sea down 92%, so GET a life, or lay down and die i really don't care, but your bullshit is outta control.
Do you have a link to the 92% decrease in illegal drug entry by sea? Unfortunately estimates are that around 88% of illegal fentanyl enters by land. But while you're celebrating this reported drop, do you have any problem with Trump's pardon of ex Honduran president Hernández who according to the prosecution helped move over 400 tons of cocaine into the US? Or with the fact that the Sackler Family of Oxycontin fame who helped get the current opioid epidemic started were able to retain most of their ill gotten gains, thanks in part to Rudy Giuliani? Looks like no matter which team is in power the Big Boys get off with a slap in the wrist.
btw - you can always be like Billy and leave! I mean why would you want to stay in a stinkhole, such a sad excuse for a former sailor - POS, you would suffer a blanket party on my ship, no doubt.
Yep - you have to wonder about what is happening when people can't have a different view without others getting ugly and hateful. What causes people to lose being civil and have morals. For whatever reason, they just can't stand others having a completely different view without losing it. Another sad sign of the times!
And just how many of those recent arrivals want to be "special"??
I'm guessing the percentage is fairly low. When I see some clown flying the flag of a country he apparently wanted to get out of, I'm perfectly happy to send him back home with prejudice.
People underestimate the power and patience of evil. The system has been slowly manipulated and fixed for the ultimate demise. We are going to look like a cast of clowns to our unknowing grandchildren, and the sad and funny thing is that it doesn't matter whether you are republican or democrat, rich or poor, only a weak man blames others. It should be completely obvious by now that even when we change course our trajectory may alter, but our direction stays the same.
Perhaps the two core reasons America is spinning out of control is the insane national debt, and allowing in so many immigrants that are not coming here to live under our Constitution. They have come here to change us into a place like they come from that does not value individual liberty. The debt is "our" fault for spending more $ on more "give-away" programs as this has been the only way for most politicians to keep being reelected. And, I don't believe that "term limits" would help at this point because the huge government bureaucracies now basically control almost every aspect of our lives. It was impossible for Trump/Musk to break up this unstoppable force! Bill seems to blame Trump and other Republicans for our decline, but ignores the Dems being the main Party of most new welfare programs, and "open-borders". Why?
In America, citizenship is simple. You either belong, or you need to belong somewhere else quietly. The White House loves freedom the way a toddler loves scissors. Very much, but only if The President is holding them. They talk about roots while paving over the soil, talk about blood while fainting at the sight of it, talk about history like it is a gated community with a dress code and a HOA.
They say the nation is not a creed, it is blood and soil. Funny thing about soil. It does not care. You can yell at it wearing a flag pin, quote the Constitution at it, scream “heritage” until your veins look like road maps, and the dirt just sits there doing dirt things. Growing weeds and taking bodies. Equal opportunity compost.
The Administration wants a country for a particular people with a particular program, which is adorable because that is exactly how cults advertise themselves without the pamphlets. Join us. Think like us. Build chips with us. Pray to the glowing rectangle. Tax money in. Miracles out. No refunds.
America was supposed to be a place where anyone could become something. The Administration prefers something else. A place where everyone becomes the same thing. Variety is chaos. Chaos is freedom. And freedom is very dangerous unless it is safely regulated by people who swear they love it.
Your kill or be killed ancient beliefs which prevailed before 1776 cause you to make this and other such comments on this medium. The melting pot idea is on a completely different level than the theme Bill addresses. Conflating the two is really a futile attempt to diminish the truths spoken by Bill and mislead readers. Be stuck in antiquity by yourself.
Yeah America left you, so you decide to live in these other countries that are what? More like what America once was? Doesn’t pass muster bud. If/when we have our rebirth, doesn’t look like you’ll be any part of it. Enjoy your elitist lifestyle. We’ll be here trying to make this country a better place.
As a boy, I always took comfort in the Romulus and Remus story, where the abandoned, desolate boys were saved and raised by the she-wolf who took them in. I took from that story that if I were a destitute child with no home, no parents, and no chance, fate could smile on me, too, and give me a sugar, she-wolf mom. Later, I guess in Junior High when taking up Latin, I learned that Rome was founded as refuge colony for then-society's rejects to find freedom and acceptance, thereby having the chance to make something of themselves, find fulfillment and give the finger to the rest of the world while doing so. (I won't get into the Alban Kings that followed ol' R&R, you know, NO KINGS, and all...) Being an analytical sort even then, and having been fed a steady diet of "compare and contrast" essay assignments in school, I made the connection (Hey, Bill, connecting the dots here...) between the founding of Rome, and the founding of what we call America! There was a reason to study Latin and Ancient History, after all! Wow, who knew? It's been a calling ever since. It was strange, though, reading, studying, seeing all this rising and falling, all this decadence, all this failing...It didn't occur to me until high school and college that something like that might could maybe happen HERE???? Oh, no! Thankfully, we were the EXCEPTION! This is what happens when the foxes (Hey, Bill, the dreaded foxes...) begin to pander, and what was a chance for freedom and fulfillment became a chance for a handout and a guarantee, and all that merely for voting for somebody....
It's the community here that makes this a special part of my day, and I'll be with Bonner until one of us, or the country, can no longer continue. It's a race, Bill. You up to it? Best always. PM
Bill tries to come across as the premier Americano. In reality, he gave up, talks a good game, but he ran away. bottom line, a quitter. Even gave up on the topic we pay to be here for. How many articles does he post that are about interpreting news to reflect their impact on financials. Hmm, I can count on one hand.....Quitter.
Not as I see it: Bill frames the bigger picture that provides the background. Our history, the classic wisdom, what was and the way back. Dan provides the economic macro views that builds the case for the financial guardrails that keeps us in the game. Dyson does the research that none of want to do or even have the patience, perseverance and/or aptitude to do. His picks have both been conservative and remarkable success. More importantly has kept from the dangers of our own boom and bust fomo. Together they are one person and one strategy focused on coming out of this bubble intact. My bet is they will be proven right in the near future.
Tom and Dan - agree! ITs BB i'm talking about above, very little substantive analysis. I get his beat is current events, but really try tying it to the financial markets and providing some guidance!
He is, if you can see it. It’s the historical and philosophical foundation that Dan and Tom build on. All three have a part. No one person, group or nation has all the answers.
I am a dual Canadian/EU passport holder and the last 4 years I have spent a good portion of my time in Hungary, Canada and a few other places. Most Americans are not too aware of the Liberal crooks running Canada and why would they. I may one day become a full time resident over on the continent... but I don't think it will be in France judging by the treatment received at the hands of the passenger/luggage screeners at the airport.
Lots of luck to those that move to other countries. When the US empire falls, and that wonderful Chineese million man army "assume world wide dominance" and start their empire, sure hope you guys will be happy. I'm sure they will "live and let live", according to their wonderful system, just as long as you understand whose in charge, "Comrade".

Bart, I agree👍
Yes, "out of many, one" defines America but that "one" is an individual with opportunity; not a subject with none
...the U.S. is the melting pot.
By inference that means you are to be homogonous in American culture.
...not the other way around.
Oh?
How so?
Please expand on Bill's theme as you understand it...
...and I am afraid I do not understand your "kill or be killed" quip.
If you want perfection I suggest the gospels.
Although I am not American, I agree with what you say.
