So "Project Vault" is designed to do what, exactly. If it's to buy metals and sell them at market price, what's the advantage? Reducing supply chain worries? OK, so then we have to imagine that the Feds are better at managing supply chains than private business.

Do any of us believe that's true?

Or do they sell to businesses at a loss when prices go "too high?" Again, a limited command economy with the Feds picking winners and losers. Not my first choice.

Am I missing something here?

I'm curious Bill, I presume you do not believe Warsh when he speaks of the need to return the FED to its original mission with a much smaller and appropriately sized balance sheet? You know, get rid of the Greenspan put, reverse the financialization and normalize our markets and economy. If you take him for his word it sounds like he seeks a managed collapse rather than a chaotic and disorderly collapse. Never-the-less pain will be had. On another note, the Democrats have been after Trump for 10 years, aggressively I might add, if there was a there there wouldn't they have already taken him down... after all they know all about abuse of power, corruption and fraud, just like everyone else in DC. One cannot have an excess of cynicism when it comes to DC and our tricked up economy.

Well Bill you stated that wall street was responsible for the mortgage derivatives fiasco, not entirely true. Once again and you and your ilk have besmirched the wrong group of folks for perpetrating a crime on the American economy. The the Federal Government, through the Federal Finace Agency, ordered Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to provide subprime loans to unqualified buyers. Wall Street did its part by packaging the loans and selling them all over the world. But too be sure it was the geniuses in the Bush administration who had no understanding of what they were doing, or worse, they did, or more likely, they didn't know the difference.

The FED's mission has always been to protect the 'Big Banks' at taxpayer's expense. The 'economy' and 'employment' has been a great marketing tool for over a century and that many still believe. Political 'Independence' allows the banks more control as well. Reducing the balance sheet will be no small task due to a spendthrift Congress. The FED only controls short term rates. With LIBOR no longer being used the manipulation is waning. The 'overnight' loans to banks is about all it controls. I would bet that not even Bill has ever received an overnight loan from the FED! Hopefully we can get out of this without war but the military-industrial complex controls Congress. If Japan goes bust first we may have a global reset that will be blamed on Japan and not Congress or the President. Dollars will be accepted for a while but will become 'Continentals' or 'Greenbacks' eventually. The 'older' folks will have a 'social security' system much like East Germany. They will lament voting for 'Congress' or the president until they eventually die off.

The fed is owned by Big Banks, literally

It has a Federal charter but it's not a Federal agency

Eugene A DeFouw's avatar

The federal reserve was set up my BIG banks to protect BIG BANKS! It should be disbanded and a new control system on banks should be created by congress. Our banking system was protected in the 1930's which required banks to be banks only - they could not own insurance companies, mortgage companies, derivitive firms, or brokerage businesses, etc., Then in the 1990's congress allowed banks to own these other businesses. Instandly, the banks had 'gobs of cash' to play with. They could invest tens millions in a stock and make millions from small changes to stock prices. Duh? Fun and games for the bankers began. We have to go back to way it was restricted in the 1904-1990's. We must get banks to be BANKERS ONLY!

Jimm Roberts's avatar

I would be content if the Feb fulfilled its original mission: a source of quick credit to its member banks to preclude bank "runs"

If this ever happened, a lot of "theater" would disappear over who will run the Fed, etc.

Worm Farmer extraordinaire's avatar

The federal reserve should not exist. They exist to serve the elite. Have you ever signed the front of a paycheck?

Jimm Roberts's avatar

To your opinion: Disagree. Its needed for quick infusions of cash to preclude bank runs

To your question: Yes

Worm Farmer extraordinaire's avatar

So you are saying that you are afraid to live in a free market economy? I am not. No private entity should be allowed to print money or set interest rates. Anyone who understands capitalism would know this.

Agent22Smith's avatar

We’re painted into such a tight corner, does it even matter who runs the Fed? Except perhaps for the different special interests each candidate represents?

Abe Porter's avatar

Why not get rid of the federal reserve. After all they just a bunch of crooked bankers.

One thing president Trump has done very well.....He only picks people who share his point of view for key positions, and so far I can't think of a 'mistake' that he made in that context. Hey, Kevin Warsh even agrees with DT about the Federal Reserve renovation project!

Guess what: Warsh is a dove wearing a hawk costume!

LOL! 🤣 Mr. Bonner's column today is so unhinged and TDS-infused, it borders on standup comedy. Oh, he hides a tidbit of truth here and there, but is it worth picking through the cow dung to find it? I think not. And for him to quote Majorie Taylor Greene. I thought she was a little unhinged when she was a Trump supporter, but now that she's anti-Trump, Bonner approves of her.

Bonner's column is so unhinged that Denning's Research Note was like a shockwave of sanity in contrast.

Personally I believe the Empire was wrecked well before Trump showed up. Clinton, Bush and Obama(the Closer) were the Empire wreckers. What is needed now is a junkyard salvage expert, a bail-in guru, a currency necromancer. Walsh may be the guy.

Eugene A DeFouw's avatar

TRUMP IS A 'JUNK-YARD' DOG, most of what he has done has been RIGHT! It will be very interesting as to what he will do about Cuba and Iran. Two countries that do not take care of their people, dictators who will kill anyone that threatens their power. The world will be a better place when they are GONE!

Steve L's avatar

Thank you Dan🙏 All good positive vibes our President is bringing to America 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸. And then there’s poor Mr Bill. Actually taking a quote from poor Mrs Greene, a women mentally unstable and terribly scorned. Come on Bill, you know that Hell has no fury like a mentally unstable woman or the mentally deranged leftist scorned…especially when afflicted with both mental illness and TDS🤔

Jimm Roberts's avatar

Steve, Your treading on thin ice when you invoke "mentally unstable." It along with "megalomania" is often used to describe our current CinC.

Steve L's avatar

Thank you Jimm, but I’m 100%sure you’re thinking about poor Mr Biden. And the thought of the crazy leftist even considering putting that poor deranged soul back in any position of power really shows you how “mentally unstable” the insane left are 🤔 Anyway “megalomaniac” maybe 🤔

You're. Not your.

Maybe off topic but do any readers question why Jeff Bezos would spend $70 million on a documentary about Melania Trump at the same time his company is cutting jobs to save money. It wouldn't be another example of legalized corruption? Good ol' Jeffery has billions of dollars in federal contracts.

I think TDS is confirmation bias, when you hate someone and didn't vote for them, it's more important for you to be right than ANYTHING else. So in turn you look for ANY detail or story, no matter how big or small, to confirm your preconceived notion. In the past few years I kept noticing that Libertarians sound just like leftists and that is why IMO. When you need to lie not always outright but, usually for Bill, by omission. So he'll say ICE shot a nurse or a Mom and leave out important details. When really I want to ONLY hear Bill tell us about the new Fed chair or the Japanese bond market. I look to him for THAT INFO, not his attempt to be a phony NYTimes reporter.

Only a scalawag rascal would invoke Ms. Greene ... you just can't help yourself Big Billy.

I enjoy Bonner Private Research....especially for the comments !

Tom Langdon's avatar

Yes, the comments are more informative and entertaining.

"Any day now could bring an avalanche of collapsing prices. And by the end of the year, the Democrats may be back in power in Congress..."

We can only hope, right, Mr. Bonner and BPR?

working stiff's avatar

They’d start looking into his business deals...his unconstitutional policies...and his use of federal police power to pester his opponents. They might even want to see the full Epstein files!

Wondering where the hell you were during all the bullshit they put that man through? Or doesn't it count.

I'd wager good money on the fact that in your view facts don't count, only f'trump..... Maybe now I'm getting it! F'troop and you are Capt. Parmenter!

It is balloon......!

Bill's avatar

I love the dated f troop reference. "Who says you're stupid." Corp. Agar..

It is, however, my understanding that your wager is by default insincere. There is no good money! I have seen however, a new patent on suits, denim jeans, even skinny pants with reinforced pockets to hold our

gold while we're on our trips to the grocery store.

working stiff's avatar

HEY! WE AGREE! There is no good money, well, correct it to no good currency.

Plenty of good money around but as everyone starts wearing leisure suit Larry's threads the good money will soon be scarce and in their pockets.

I did get a Corporal laugh.... however, I think I'm more like Sgt. O'Rourke. At least that was the rank (E5) I got out of the Navy as. Made E6, but got the Carter pink slip before the award. Thanks for the laugh, see that! You are good for something! :-)

A credit boom or an any day now a collapse.

Good thing we have BPR to alert us!

working stiff's avatar

amazing isn't it.... Billy says "Don't look behind the curtain...pay me and i'll steer your ship"....borderline insulting, except he has no longer any filters at his disposal - just sit on trump stir up the paying masses - rinse, repeat.....

Bill's avatar

Yea! Up with down!

Everything sucks!
