Civil wars are anything but "civil".

Kevin Johnson's avatar

It's long past time to have a real one. But since the digital prison is almost complete and the citizens are completely demoralized, there's no chance it will happen, anyway.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

Seems to me there is a huge rift between conservatives and the liberal minded.

If there's gonna be any civility.

The liberals have got to grow up.

Someone's going to get slapped eventually.

Where are these conservatives of whom you speak? Ron Paul? Thomas Massey? If there any real conservatives in CONgress or the White House why are they talking about a balanced budget and reducing federal spending?

Angry Icebergs's avatar

There are differing types of conservatism.

My favorite would be fiscal and soverignty.

I support any congressman pursuing legislation to enhance these policies.

Cartero Atómico's avatar

Can you name these CONgress members? I haven't seen any politician mentioning the national debt or controlling government spending.

Rand Paul

Jim Jordan

Marsha Blackburn

Chip Roy

Josh Hawley... there's more... quite a few...

...but not enough.

Yes, but then they think they are grown up and smartest people in the room. Why? Because they have been told so, but not by the smartest the smartest people in the room.

If you receive over 200,000 votes from strangers honoring you as a representative...

Some of it surely must go to your head...

I believe it takes a certain amount of self-importance just to consider running...

Not so sure their aim is altruism...

Rather more self aggrandizing stroking their egos.

Where has all the TDS gone? It would be interesting to understand the dynamic that changed the course of this financial newsletter, don't you think? I mean the financial news has not changed that much, perhaps a bit more dire, as we move closer to the bust.

Lookin at France right now the left viewpoint seems a bit more absurd. We just watched the Ceuta experience. If you were European what do you think is next? Kinda seems the European TDS just took a back seat. Listening to Daniel LaCalle, and he is a Spaniard, the EU leadership might want to consider dropping their defeat Russia mantra.

It looks more ad more like the "Grim Reaper" is coming on strong. History cannot be ignored.

MAX SAFETY MODE is still the best choice for me.

Mr. Bonner's opening epigraph from Cabaret jovially captures the sad decline of a life when the money goes and the economy wheezes and gasps. I prefer when a hard truth is sugarcoated in humor. And why not?

Literary expats Hemingway and Fitzgerald understood the hard realities waiting on the other side of fast times and excess, and rendered it more soberly in their prose. The hangover, and the fewer choices that come from bad choices. The German TV hit Babylon Berlin also nestles itself in the moral and sad, if at times exciting, decline of 1920s Berlin. We might be transitioning from the "drink and be merry" stage, to the "drink and worry" stage, to the "drink because well, why not?" stage. I don't drink, so I have to remain hopelessly optimistic.

There will be no Hitlerian savior for Weimerica 2026 or beyond. With heritage Americans now a minority and the barbarians now wandering freely within the gates, it's a dead man walking.

Harold Shaeffer's avatar

Since we are "the land of immigrants" hasn't "heritage Americans" always been a minority?

Just asking.

Kevin Johnson's avatar

LEGAL immigrants who, prior to the passing of the disastrous (deliberately) Hart-Celler act, were required to meet specific qualifications in order to gain citizenship.

The 1960s policies enacted by FedGov ushered in the beginning of the end of heritage America and Hart-Celler was particularly damaging which is why "they" worked so hard to get it passed.

Thanks for your clarification.

reading the comments below its apparent that as in this past century Europe is ready for another WAR .. certainly France Germany UK need one to lift their economies out of the same malaise that is drowning the US in its own sewage .. so will god bless america as it has Israel ?

Wonderful Bill ! now you're remembering the nitty gritty of the real story from early '20's to '49 .. not the most pleasing time in Germanic history but thankfully James Michener and others captured the essence in books like POLAND and many others .. although he was in those ethical days, forced to describe his novels as enhanced fictional histories by his more ethical editors ! but he did manage to capture the real essence of what happened in the country that choose to disappear rather than take responsibility for their own legitimate right of existence but being always intimidated by Germans Austrians or Russians and ruled by small estate tyrants, these elite group of Polish barons were unwilling to form a united nation to defend the combined Prussian Germanic Ukrainien peoples (inc the massive Jewish/Gypsy Roma diaspora) whom they felt no obligations for, so the entire Baltic coast to the steppes of Eurasia were left to fend for themselves .. and now guess what they are still having to develop the courage to stand up to Putin and his mafia but sadly they don't have an American president or population that want to help other than steal any intellectual property that Ukraine has developed in the art of modern remote controlled warfare. Yes this war is far from being decided while the Netanyahoo & IDF is busy distracting the world about the evils of Palestinians and how Yahweh has anointed them to rule not just the entire middle east but even the world through their superior "golden dome" intellect that their God has gifted them .. all bought and paid for by USA over the past 85 years! So please keep on revealing how this drama plays out as USA sinks into it's own version of Treblinka Auschwitz Buchenwald etc so all that hi-story to be played out again but with a different ending eh ?
