A salute to Bill Bonner! I thought he would be a “Hollerin Henry” complain about everything but offer no solutions for anything. I was wrong. Best column in 10 years!
Really great review and reporting. A good list to start the clean up. I will add two other agencies; the Dept. of Education, formed during the Carter, people that killed education and made a Federal controlled indoctrination system, and the Dept. of Energy, (Carter again) that has NEVER produced one cup of energy of any kind, only increased the cost of all production. Two more to add to David's list.
Recall the 1981 PATCO strike where 13,000 FAA Air traffic controllers walked off the job demanding higher pay. Recall that Ronald Reagan fired all of them and immediately institutuded a replacement effort while management personnel took over the tower functions. Recall that nothing happened. This very big historical litmus test adds credibility to Mr. Stockmans prescriptions and the efforts of the DOGE.
David Stockman is a phenomenon. It would take me all day, everyday, to keep up with his production. This is especially good, especially the IRS portion.
Mr. Narutowicz, I couldn't agree more. Re IRS: I was totally ignorant of the fact that a whopping 92% of taxpayers don't itemize. So Pres. Biden's pumping up of the IRS makes no sense. This atrocity needs to be corrected by Musk & Co., and I assume they will.
I read this brilliant piece in its entirety as you obviously did, and the only thing I would be nervous about if I was Musk & Co. is the political fallout from moving too fast in cutting Air Traffic Controllers. Mr. Stockman makes a convincing case to significantly reduce their numbers. But I think if Pres. Trump moved too quickly here, and an airliner crashed, especially near a U.S. airport, the U.S. Left (billionaire leftists, Congressional Dems, Dem governors, legacy media, etc.) would blame this incident on Pres. Trump and the GOP for the rapid cutbacks, even if it was shown later that the cutbacks didn't cause the crash.
But at least pertaining to the other departments (except where they deal with safety), I would think Pres. Trump could rapidly reduce these. Of course, the Left is using their leftist federal judge buddies to slow things down, but this only appears to be a desperate, temporary tactic.
Everything Trump is trying to do seems to be in jeopardy. He should, as you say, tread lightly, in safety areas. I read WAPO and the articles and reactions are demoralizing. One can almost become Bill. The corruption is so widespread, supports so many people. It seems an impossible job even when the evidence is presented with such devastating truth.
Great column! Let's move on to Cabinet-level departments, where there's undoubtedly substantially more fat: Departments of Education, HHS, and HUD immediately come to mind, as they all grew massively in my lifetime...and we seem to have prospered prior to their creation. DoD stands by itself in need of a massive overhaul as does the byzantine conglomeration of security agencies.
Now that the liberal state run propaganda machine known as the press (minus Fox of course) has been broken after being exposed with its lies like biden being sharp as a tack, etc.. There is a chance that DOGE might work which will be good for the American people but the left needs a bloated bureaucratic establishment to steal our freedoms.
This is all good. You have to add the Dept of Education and the TSA. Of more importance to things is how the rich avoid paying taxes, like tax-Free exchanges, capital gains tax on profits, not on capital expenditures. There are numerous billionaires that never pay taxes.....
The real haul could be made at the level of tax-free foundations, charities, and even churches.
The wealthy with family trusts and foundations are permitted to enhance their wealth and influence tax-free which eventually triggers an exponential growth phase. We see this with, for example, the BMGF which allows the sponsor to donate and dictate to the WHO the terms and management of a plandemic.

Sorry folks, but 50 % will not cut it. If you do not fully destroy these agencies, they will come back bigger and badder than ever.
