Bill I realize that you are not in the US right now so you might not be as up to date on what is going on with the the whole involvement of the Minnesota government leaders with the "signal" chat forums that are planning and directing the whole resistance effort. As a world traveler and land owner in several countries, could you name me just one country that you can fly to and enter without the proper paperwork shown to customs when you arrive. Did any of those countries just let you come sauntering in and give you a free cell phone and a place to stay. Are the people of Ireland or Argentina or France expected to pay for your housing and food and phone bills. Do they think they would let you come into their country and stay on the dole for ten years like 70% of the Somali's are. Let me ask you, if you have a drivers license, does that give you the right to block traffic and interfere with police officers in the middle of making an arrest. If you have a conceal to carry license does that give you the right to insert yourself in the middle of any law enforcement operation? I was struck by Gov. Walsh's comment after talking to Tom Holman and making the announcement that he was very interested that they investigate the two "murders" that Ice was involved in. It seemed odd that not one media source, including conservative news agencies didn't mention that Gov. Walsh had already tried and convicted the ICE agents just like Joe Biden tried and convicted the Border agents in Texas for "whipping" poor people trying to enter the country illegally. I am not sure where you get your information but you might want to try to find something a little more balanced. The two people who unfortunately lost their lives were just as much to blame as anyone else. Ice agents aren't driving down the road shooting at people in cars or walking down the street. Gov Walsh told another of his half truths when he said all illegal immigrants are turned over to ICE. What he failed to mention is that is only the ones coming out of state prisons and only after they have served their sentence. No mention of all the county and municipal law enforcement who are required to release them. Is your hatred for Trump so clouding your vision you can't see the whole picture here?

Stop it, Lynn. You're going to confuse Mr. Bonner with the facts. Good job!

Oh, they weren't murders? These masked Nazi thugs are not trained police officers. They stand stupidly in front of cars and then complain about the car moving and, then, kill the driver instead of being thankful she's leaving. They mob on top of a guy (who, incidentally, happens to be a huge value to society) and instead of putting on handcuffs, two of the taxpayer-paid thugs shoot him. Is that the type of "service" you endorse.

How did your ancestors arrive? Did they report to the US consulate? If they are like mine, they boarded a ship and were whisked through "immigration", settled on land formerly occupied by Native Americans and went on to make sometimes significant contributions to American and world society and economy. My US first-born ancestor invented many of instruments used by the Bessemer Steel furnaces. And that is minor compared to the contributions of the millions (yours included?) of immigrants allowed to thrive in the "Promised Land". The US is unique in that anyone, as President Reagan said, can become an American and that's what most immigrants aspire to and contribute to if allowed. But Trump is a whack job in multiple ways.

Such as: Dealing the final death knoll of our formerly #1 (steel) industry by Trump's monopoly blessing to one company during his first term so, today, our country doesn't even begin to innovate or compete in the world market--and, not only does every US company that manufactures products requiring steel find it impossible to compete internationally, but we, as consumers have been forced since 2018 to pay much higher prices for every product that requires steel--all thanks to Trump.

Aside from devastating the country economically he has spread his hateful rhetoric and lose-lose (he thinks it's win-lose, which is bad in itself) philosophy over the whole world. He promised peace and prosperity and is delivering war and impoverishment in the US, while inadvertently doing great service to every other country in the world which, motivated by his clownish hate speech toward them, is realizing that the US is no longer so great, realizing they can do better than the US and they are even forming useful alliances to protect and develop themselves.

China, which learned to avoid this type of thuggery in 1989, which speaks positively to everyone (even to Trump, except when goaded to react to his childish aggressions), and which controls its big corporations and serves the "little guy", has now surpassed the US in virtually every measure. Despite having to deal with 50 different ethnicities and languages, the country is not only booming but bringing prosperity to the entire Southern Hemisphere--a world that the US and Europe have intentionally suppressed for centuries (since the Monroe Doctrine by the US). As China learns from us (and actually loves us and wants to spend billions here but aren't allowed by Trump) it is forming win-win alliances over much of the world, while the US slides backwards.

Lynn Howard's avatar

I guess I'm wrong but isn't someone innocent until proven guilty. Please don't tell me that they will get off because the judicial system is rigged. It's the same system that let Hillary walk after destroying all the evidence of classified materials and the same system that said Donald Trump committed fraud when no one was defrauded and everybody got what they wanted out of the deal.

My wife has traced my ancestors go back to Jamestown and you are right they just walked ashore and didn't have to show any papers. We didn't call them immigrants, we called them settlers because that is what they did. They didn't get a free axe and an already made cabin with established fields and gardens, they had to build it all on their own. No cell phones not hotel rooms just a sandy beach that led to forests.

You were right when you quoted President Regan that any immigrant can become a US citizen but what you seem to forget that when he said that he meant a legal immigrant you just didn't have to say the legal part, it was just understood. It's like today you have to say that someone is a biological female instead of just female and if the US is so bad why are so many people breaking our laws to get here.

China didn't learn to avoid thuggery they just learned not to be so obvious about it. Their whole "Silk Road" plan is a classic example of this. Ask the Uyghur's in western China if China has stopped it's thuggery. Try walking into China without any paperwork and see how far you get. Do a little research and see how many Trillions of dollars worth of industrial plans and formulas the Chinese have stolen from American corporations. The Chinese are very good at smiling at you and saying we won't do that again and keep right on doing what they are doing.

One last comment, you say the ICE officer was so dumb to stand in front of the vehicle. I see "peaceful protestors" standing in front of ICE vehicles each day on the news. I guess it's ok to run over them when they should be thankful that the car was leaving?

Yea, Mr. Howard they've only lived in peace for the last 3000 years, just by turning the other cheek and defending themselves. They honor and respect everyone, even the clown in the White House and even one of the conquerors of China, Genghis Kahn (sp?). The latter in immortalized in a park and statue in Beijing.

Invector's avatar

Yes, Mr. Uehling, your ChiCom heroes live in peace and honor and respect everyone. 😂😂😂😂

Unless of course you count the tens of millions of their fellow citizens they murdered.

Good lord, you're such a 🤡

Ed Uehling's avatar

The Communist Party running China today is vastly different from the Communist Party under Mao Zedong. Please tell us how China's invasion of 2 countries (twice each) begins to compare with Trump's 8 wars in one year, his facilitating of the slaughter in Gaza and continuing intentional starvation of the remaining population, while everyone waits for his phony "peace plan" to even start to be implemented. BTW who murdered tens of millions of people and when did that happen?

Ed Uehling's avatar

OK, genius, it shouldn't difficult for you to tell us where China dropped its first bomb on another country and how many miles of rail the US has built during the last 20 years in other countries since 2000?

Invector's avatar

Ed Uehling: Okay, 60 million murdered, but damn it, look at those rails!!

🤡🤡🤡

Ed Uehling's avatar

Are you referring to the famine caused by Mao's emphasis on industrial development in 1958-60 (I believe) which resulted in 10-45 million deaths? I don't think murdered is the appropriate verb. It wasn't desired or aimed at any particular group. By contrast, for example, most of the 10,000,000 native peoples estimated to have been living within current US boundaries in 1500 AD were specifically targeted and disappeared by mainly Christian Spanish and other European settlers. That clearly constitutes murder and the discrimination continues 5 centuries later. It's weird to me why Americans like you (presuming you're American) are so distressed about a famine occurring in a country which has 20 percent of the world population, but only 6% of its arable land, but never targeted any group for obliteration, while we, on the other hand, specifically targeted specific peoples even though plenty of arable land was (and is to this day) available even for a vastly greater number of people. Atheistic Chinese seek peace locally and internationally. Our holier-than-thee devotees seek conflict locally and internationally. In the end game, do you think, much less wish, that the Trumpanyahu philosophy/policy will prevail in the long run? .

Ed Uehling's avatar

Wow! Great reply (with a couple mishaps)! Maybe some of this back and forth can be fun?:

Yup, 1. your ancestors did what apparently only they can do--turn impossible situations around because they are far more accustomed to chaos, injustices and hardship than us comfortable residents/native citizens. That's one reason why the political leaders around the time of arrival of our ancestors should be recognized for their smarts.

2. How do you know that Reagan (sp?) was referring only to legal immigrants, although of course, it was much easier for foreigners to come in the 80's and before?

3. Yes, in spite of our politicians' love for taking out their frustrations and inbred hatreds on immigrants (because in wins elections in our racist and anti-foreigner world) desperate foreigners will do anything, including walking through the Darian Strait in Colombia, just to get to the Promised Land..That includes breaking laws. Every immigrant should tell their story and I think we would be amazed at how much they sacrificed and prevailed over the impossible. BTW, Americans are very welcome in China where they and their kids would be 100% safe all day and night, no matter if they are alone; where they could get a house for $300 thousand in a booming exciting city and not pay a penny of property tax, be able to move around the entire country easily, cheaply and without having to buy a car (it is, however, too cold for me in most of China.

4. Yes, go talk to the Uyghurs now: Xinjiang province (10 years ago the poorest province in the country) is now booming and has unlimited water even to raise crops in the desert (very similar to that of Jordan and the West Bank and, in some places to the Sahara--I think it is the largest province by far). The population there is extremely conservative Sunni Moslem, while the other Moslem province, Ningxia (sp?) has dowe better economically since they are more open-minded Shia Moslem.

5. What secrets did they steal from the Americans? Is it any different from what competing companies do to each other? China is more open source and humanity. Even though they now submit three times the number of patents that Americans do, I have the impression that they would love to do massive projects in the US--but our know-it-all racist leaders won't let them share--even though we are already behind them and losing the technology race fast. You should go. You would not believe what you would be seeing.

6. Protesters don't pretend to be trained police--and whenever they become masked thugs they know they are violating the law. ICE thugs have killed or caused to be killed numerous people "legally" for this thug administration which is leading us right into law-ignoring chaos and economic depression.

Thanks again, Lynn, for at least giving it some thought. And just go to China and obverse with your own eyes the lies we're all being bombarded with.

“your ancestors did what apparently only they can do--turn impossible situations around because they are far more accustomed to chaos, injustices and hardship than us comfortable residents/native citizens. That's one reason why the political leaders around the time of arrival of our ancestors should be recognized for their smarts”

Yep, but without the sarcasm.

“How do you know that Reagan (sp?) was referring only to legal immigrants, although of course, it was much easier for foreigners to come in the 80's and before?”

Gee, maybe because he liked enforcing immigration laws unlike Biden? And how was it easier for (legal) immigrants to come before? Btw, you should know there was a long period in the early 20th century when they had much stricter immigration laws than now.

“Yes, in spite of our politicians' love for taking out their frustrations and inbred hatreds on immigrants (because in wins elections in our racist and anti-foreigner world) ”

Let me guess, this just applies to the west. Assuming you’re not pulling this out of your ass.

“Every immigrant should tell their story and I think we would be amazed at how much they sacrificed and prevailed over the impossible. ”

Go look for them and hear their stories then. If you like repetitive stuff, that is.

“BTW, Americans are very welcome in China where they and their kids would be 100% safe all day and night,”

Yep, being watched all the time sure sounds great.

“where they could get a house for $300 thousand in a booming exciting city ”

They can probably get it for less now since the huge property/ghost city bubble imploded.

“Xinjiang province (10 years ago the poorest province in the country) is now booming and has unlimited water even to raise crops in the desert (very similar to that of Jordan and the West Bank and, in some places to the Sahara--I think it is the largest province by far). I’ll just leave this here.

https://uhrp.org/insights/four-years-after-the-genocide-judgment-reflections-on-the-uyghur-tribunal/

You’re a holocaust denier.

“What secrets did they steal from the Americans? Is it any different from what competing companies do to each other”

Yep, the IP theft was on a much larger scales and is still going on.

“even though we are already behind them and losing the technology race fast.”

Nonsense, most of the best AI companies and other sectors are in the US. As for DeepSeek, even that “superiority” is exaggerated.

“You should go. You would not believe what you would be seeing.”

Please go and stay there if you like it so much. Your excuse of “it’s too cold” is lame. It ain’t Russia.

“and just go to China and obverse with your own eyes the lies we're all being bombarded with.”

We don’t need to go there to know it’s a totalitarian shithole, all the technological razzle-dazzle notwithstanding. You’re the gullible idiot, not us.

Ed Uehling's avatar

Unfortunately for us, most Americans, you apparently included, gobble up US government propaganda. See UHRP above, one of the many anti-Chinese institutions formed and funded by the US government for its 150-year racist policy of defaming China. I don't understand why that position is so popular here in the US--particularly since Chinese people hold the very opposite view of the US. Perhaps it stems from the "wrong" leader (Mao) winning the civil war against Chiang Kai-shek? It's true that we have had a lot of corrupt and inept leadership as indicated by our $38 trillion debt, our 75 years of war making, our crumbling cities, etc., but clearly (not to you but to more than half our population) Trump has accelerated both the decline of the US and the rise of China to the point that it now beats the US in virtually every meaningful measure. Trump and people like you (who have probably never been to China (at least not in the last 5 years) seem to deny the obvious. Do I like or approve or wish for this? Of course not. As a US born citizen I wish that the US were creating friends, keeping pace with China (in fact, exceeding it), etc. I merely state what I see happening. You, on the other hand, parrot State Department and CIA propaganda designed to deny and even vilify the verifiable truths about China. And for what purpose? Do you feel better now? Is the US growing? Are your kids likely to live in a better world? Chinese kids already do and are more likely than American kids to continue.

Voice of Reason's avatar

“Unfortunately for us, most Americans, you apparently included, gobble up US government propaganda. See UHRP above, one of the many anti-Chinese institutions formed and funded by the US government for its 150-year racist policy of defaming China.”

Yep, it’s all propaganda, blah blah. Look buddy, I don’t blindly swallow all the crap I hear (but apparently you do when it comes from SCMP and other pro-China outlets) but that doesn’t mean we should dismiss it all and assume things in China are so wonderful. If it’s *all* CIA propaganda, why hasn’t news about Israel been censored? You mention the genocide (most of which is unintentional) there but don’t want to believe China is doing the same thing, and worse. It’s just less visible. I’ve heard the same stuff about China from non-mainstream sources too

“Trump has accelerated both the decline of the US”

Maybe when it comes to the debt but what else is new? But any other way you think he’s responsible for the mess is BS.

“the rise of China to the point that it now beats the US in virtually every meaningful measure.”

Please give us a comprehensive list. I bet most of them will be either CCP propaganda (you know they like to exaggerate too, right?) or will reverse in the foreseeable future.

“Of course not. As a US born citizen I wish that the US were creating friends, keeping pace with China (in fact, exceeding it), etc”

Then why do you seem to have such a boner for China? You’re sucking their small d**ks so much it’s ridiculous.

“verifiable truths about China.”

What are these verifiable truths? Is one of them that it’s a utopia?

“And for what purpose?”

Like you, I’m just stating what I see. I’m countering your BS.

“Are your kids likely to live in a better world”

I don’t have kids yet, thank god.

“Chinese kids already do and are more likely than American kids to continue.”

Well let’s see, China is already in rapid population decline, their economy isn’t doing that great (otherwise they wouldn’t need stimulus), and anger is definitely building towards the CCP. Might wanna keep an eye on that. So no, I doubt Chinese kids have it better or that they will anytime soon.

But hey, keep believing your delusions, nobody’s stopping you. Most people in the west will strongly disagree though.

Apparently, you don't mind China's theft of intellectual property or their murder of millions of their own citizens. When did you get your degree from Mr. Bonner's TDS School of Selective, Biased, and Distorted Information?

Ed Uehling's avatar

If it's so distorted, it should be easy for you to refute it with facts, not just name-calling. And if you think that this brand of cowardice helps America, you're wrong.

John P Gallien's avatar

Except you forgot one thing, Ed. It's not worth my time. I've already spent too much time reading your replies to Lynn's rational analysis. I was curious what you would write. It just reminded me of what a waste of time it is.

Lynn Howard's avatar

My thoughts exactly John. I did do a google search and found out that you can't own a house in China, because everything belongs to the State. Technically you can lease a house for 70 years from the state but the first requirement is that you have a valid and current passport and have lived in China for 12 months. The average price of a 3 bedroom apartment is around 3,000,000 yuan or $439,000.

The Nation approach that we mostly have now in the world does imply some form of immigration control across borders. The US appears to have poor and archaic immigration practices as the government system has failed to keep up, and people on the ground suffer as a consequence. Other countries seem much better on the topic. Maybe a better government approach is required? Maybe all this struggle trying to interpret a 250 year old document written by white slave holders might not be the ideal way forward. Maybe the Trump approach of totally breaking the system is correct after all. Either way - rapid change is the likely outcome.

Jimm Roberts's avatar

What in the world did Bonner fail to state that triggered your critique of his comments today?

Surely, his recitation of the Constitutional transgressions were just facts; not "left wing talking points?"

An unarmed man -- a VA hospital critical care nurse -- while pinned on his back on the pavement was murdered in cold blood by two of Trump's Brown Shirt thugs.

Who empowered them to be judge-jury-and executioner?

Kirk Monnie's avatar

I'm sorry you feel that way......hope the NYTimes gives you a shot also! I just think a financial newsletter should mention the fraud and how that came to be. You might be making a mistake labeling murders by masked thugs as "left wing propaganda". We know about the stupidity and incompetence of Biden. That's why we voted for Trump. Shouldn't we condemn policies and octopus that are even more "UnAmerican"? Would you be praising Biden if he had sent masked thugs to abuse and kill and then lie about it into red states?

Angry Icebergs's avatar

So Alex Pretti is painted as the "victim".

Mr. Bonner apparently did not see what happened the week prior to Alex's demise.

Spitting on agents and kicking-out taillights of ICE vehicles.

-

Despite the broken rib Pretti received from initiating his first ICE beating.

He inexplicably felt it necessary to harass the agents again.

Armed.

-

Has it occurred to BB likely some of the agents recognized Pretti...

Another hard FAFO lesson...

Ed Uehling's avatar

Angry. Well that certainly justifies mobbing on top of the guy and having 2 people shoot him. Even Trump himself pulled those guys and their leadership, but you justify it????

Angry Icebergs's avatar

...we may differ as to what the word "justify" means.

IMO there is no such thing as "justice" beyond that of the Almighty.

In the animal kingdom, justice does not exist.

IMO justice is at best revenge and compensation.

-

Pretti consciously chose to make numerous bad decisions.

Since when has cause and effect not been connected?

When I make a bad decision, the consequences are not guaranteed fair or just...

Jimm Roberts's avatar

Your approval of the execution -- the murder -- of a defenseless person by Trump's Brown Shirts is reprehensible.

His conduct was protected by our Constitution; the manner by which he was restrained then killed was akin to what Nazis did to Jews.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

Not even close...

Nazi's hunted and slaughtered Jews, they had no choice.

Pretti made bad choices... more than once!

Cause and effect are interconnected.

When I make a bad choice, the consequences are not guaranteed fair or just...

Jimm Roberts's avatar

The persons who made the bad choices were the Federal thugs who pinned Pretti down on his back then repeatedly shot him dead.

A citizen enthusiastically exercising his Constitutional rights is not a bad choice.

Your tacit approval of his murder and disapproval of him exercising his rights is appalling.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

Jimm...

You seem to totally discount the acts of Pretti...

As an agent in knowing you are dealing with a violent gun toting person.

What would you do?

-

Likely the agents recognized Pretti from his previous tantrum spitting and kicking the vehicle's taillights.

With foreknowledge that Pretti is an armed loose cannon they took extra precautions.

-

I don't disapprove of Pretti's right to protest.

However, Pretti was not protesting, he harassed the agents.

it was Pretti that repeatedly chose to behave in a threatening manic manner.

-

It was Pretti "actions" that initiated the agent's ire and then resisted arrest elevating the incident further.

The agents unfortunately "reacted" incorrectly...

-

When I make a bad choice, the consequences are not guaranteed fair or just...

I wish I lived in your world Jimm, where if you f*ck up there are no consequences...

Jimm Roberts's avatar

Two replies:

--I live in the same world that you do.

Having had more than my share of life-ending close calls (none due to confronting ICE), I'm mindful of consequences.

--Assuming the two ICE murderers knew of Pretti's prior conduct (breaking a tail light), it doesn't justify his execution.

You are rationalizing of the summary execution of a citizen because he was angry that ICE previously murdered an unarmed woman.

This ability would allow you join the Einstazgruppen

Angry Icebergs's avatar

...you keep using the word "justify".

-

You can glue the broken vase together, but it will never be whole.

At best it's compensation and revenge.

-

I am not "rationalizing" anything, I am reporting what occurred....

The agents made a terrible mistake ONLY because Pretti first made some terrible choices...

-

Can you "justify" an industrial accident?

In most cases the employer is also a victim.

If you have ever unwound an industrial accident...

Most every incident could be prevented in many steps prior along the way; until it can't.

Dear Bill I do not feel the need to castigate your missive today as my colleagues have done an admirable job. However, I would like to point out that the average reading comprehension of Americans is somewhere in the vicinity of the sixth grade. The national debt is about 38 trillion. The unfunded liabilities debt (social security, pensions, Medicare, Medicaid) are around 160 trillion. Additionally you have the far left National Education Association funding the Democratic Party to the tune of 22 million in 2024. This is same organization that is responsible for 6th grade reading skills, and in return for their 22 million contribution, the democrats provide legislation to further ensure socialist concepts and behavior are taught in our school at the expense of academic rigor and economic literacy. Bill, maybe you could tie this information into connecting the dots? Money is your beat, right?

John P Gallien's avatar

Love the newletter but am truly tired of the Bill Bashing here in the comments. Don't you MAGA Lovers have somewhere else to go and ply your BS. It gets so tiring to hear the same ol' "I love the TACO" crap day after day after day. Ol' Bill doesn't need your subscriptions - please, please, please - run somewhere else.

blah blah blah - same shit, new day. Get over it already. We don't see you coming up with anything better.

Your like a kid in the backseat saying "are we there yet".

President Trump is living rent free in that empty head of yours.

I guess it is true, the older you get the less your brain functions properly....

🤣Absolutely hilarious and true at the same time!

Today's missive not worth a serious comment. But how about this re: Senor Bill, it could be lead poisoning from too much Tocata wine, it's very heavy and you can't see through it, but it makes you feel pretty, pretty smart...

Now that's a really "serious comment", drtomcor.

Bill, don't feel too sorry for the old coot. Remember, the Trumps have enriched themselves by 1.4 billion dollars during this administration, - so far!

Look at Trump.

He’s not losing control.

He’s discovering there was never any to begin with.

Approval ratings cratering, coins evaporating, and allies flipping him off with diplomatic smiles and laminated talking points.

He threatens, he warns, he stomps.

The world nods politely and continues eating lunch.

His agents kill an innocent men, and he asks for loyalty from the grieving.

That’s not leadership, that’s a man mistaking a corpse for a focus group.

The elite and their sidekicks keep shouting “strength,” but strength doesn’t need this much branding.

Fear was supposed to buy respect, instead it bought silence, and silence is what happens right before the punchline collapses into a sob.

You know what’s sad about President Trump?

He got everything he wanted.

And it’s still not enough to keep the lights on. In the US, the foreigners, the immigrants are blamed for everything.

Cold weather, bad vibes, heck even gravity but eventually even Trump’s reflection will stop cooperating with him.

The Constitution didn’t die, it just stopped answering emails.

People think rights are guarantees.

Turns out they are more like coupons.

They expired quietly, no announcement needed.

Soon Trump will stand alone, giving speeches to empty rooms, still believing fear equals love, still confused why the crowd stopped clapping and started counting.

“the foreigners, the immigrants are blamed for everything.”

Are they blamed for everything more than Trump is blamed for everything? I don’t think so.

“Soon Trump will stand alone, giving speeches to empty rooms.”

The only one giving a speech to an empty room here is you.

Usual disclaimer: not a huge Trump fan.
