“Imagine what happens when you have teams of amateurs led by ambitious incompetents and loudmouth show-offs, unaccountable to anyone, spending other peoples’ money!” We don’t have to “Imagine” Bill, we just lived through over a decade of Obamanomics. Not a good place to be as we see 🤔. It’s all coming down now and maybe, just maybe we will slowly crawl out of the quicksand of the swamp…

Lee Harvey Oswald: "I'm a patsy." So long as we continue to concentrate on Oswald, the longer the charade can continue. Around here, we like to connect the dots, as our fearless Leader proclaims. Here's the dots: the CIA hatched the plan to overthrow the communist dictatorship in Cuba, and sought President Kennedy's support. For critical geopolitical reasons, Kennedy would not commit the armed forces of the US to the plan. When the CIA went ahead with the Bay of Pigs disaster, which brought about the Cuban Missile Crisis, Kennedy sought to shut down the CIA. The Dulles Brothers were having none of it. Who came out alive? The CIA or Kennedy?

The beauty of this for the Deep State continues to be Lee Harvey Oswald, the original set-up guy. That's what a patsy is. Lee Harvey Oswald, dead since 1963, continues to pay dividends for the Deep State. Best always. PM

Germany never had a chance in WW1 or 2. Germany could not feed itself; it lacked basic resources; its people were intelligent, resourceful, efficient its manufacturing and technology superb.

What Germany learned from WW1 is that it needed to expand East, into Russia, control its own resources and destiny.

Both Germany and Japan feared the US. The US was the leading industrial power. It only spent 1% on arms, but it had a colossal auto industry, led the way in flight, electric generation. The oil industry dominated the world, its agriculture was rich and productive, and it had abundant resources, led the world in innovation, had a productive workforce.

The US was self sufficient.

That advantage, greatness, has been dissipated over 85 years. We converted to war, and it was so lucrative that we kept at it, the MICC, the spy complex, the dominate the world complex.

Unions, WOKE, environmentalism, bureaucratic control, impeded everything; we became a finance consumer economy, and corporations moved offshore. Factories closed, Americans became poor, supported by the welfare state, education went to hell, lies ruled. We created Japan, Korea, then the big monster China.

Free trade has been good for the industrialist; it has been a disaster for Americans.

When Congress practices Keynesian economics, it stimulates China.

America is in a dismal place, put there by dimwit people that pushed free trade; it made them rich. Trade is essential, but nothing is free. The third world is in shambles raped by industrial powers that’s why the populations displaced from their livelihoods are on the move.

America has paid a disastrous price.

I spit on free trade.

Don, as I commented the other day, the concept of free trade relies on the fact that you are dealing with free countries. China is not and is using free trade to build up its military and subsidizes industries to destroy critical American industries. While I will wait and see what happens with the tariffs (I am not necessarily a big fan, but I think Trump will adjust depending on results), I definitely think we should extricate ourselves from trade with regimes such as China. We need to become a manufacturing nation again and make a lot of our own stuff, including steel, vehicles, pharmaceuticals, etc.

Also from that C&C article:

“Trump gets it, and now I do, too. ‘Globalism’ is much simpler than we thought—and even uglier, if that’s possible. It’s all about money. It’s a global grift. Its entire goal is to preserve a rigged trade system, where the United States charges no tariffs, but every other country can slap tariffs, VAT taxes, currency manipulation, and non-tariff barriers on American goods. That’s it. That’s the whole scam. It’s not about international harmony.

It’s about keeping the U.S. market wide open (the “open borders”) while everyone else plants automated toll booths all along their borders.”

Sluggo, I have a question, or perhaps a statement. Do You really think that the USA was really that blind to what has been going on for , how long ? Decades maybe . There is something wrong about this equation in My mind. Maybe yes , maybe no to the corruption that goes on in this world. We certainly know that corruption is not one sided. The US is manipulated, come on! It takes 2 to tango. Yes there are Countries that try to take advantage of another Country. This is true , but The Country that is being used certainly would object immediately. Not Decades later. At Least from My perspective as a Human being that sees win win deals , Not win loss deals. That is My perspective from My arm chair in My rented condo.

So, in other words, Don, you think the people we have elected (mostly incompetent Democrats and dumb Bush Republicans) really were on top of the situation in terms of trade? I think many of them were clueless and just coasting through their terms as manufacturing jobs left the country. Granted, there is more to it than just that, but that's a starting point.

Trade is , was part and parcel for many generations. That is one problem that I see with government . They should not be in the economy. But that is story for another day. I don't disagree, but the USA cannot allow itself to be vulnerable to countries like China. We have to keep our critical industries intact or at least in countries we can trust. Some of the other stuff Trump is doing seems to be over the top, but we'll see what happens.

Trump may be doing a perverse service by showing how much money counties, including the US, can lose with high tariffs

The few firms that try to beat US tariffs by relocating here constitute a pittance of the many, many more that simply sell to their customers located in the US.

World trade will diminish causing the world to become poorer because of Trump

BB, Believe it or not, I agree with most of your prose. Two question I have, perhaps you can field an intelligent answer..... 1. Why is it accepted that the other nations can charge us crazy tariffs, stop us from selling certain products in thier markets, and limit other products, again, in thier markets?

I get it after WW2 we accepted this as a means to build, or more appropriately rebuild those devasted countries, however, it has been what 80 years? When do we level the paying field. Consequently, I see President Trumps attempt refreshing. A new approach.

2. Per the wars, when was the last time anyone in a powerful position didn't swing the big stick but attempted to talk, negotiate and resolve the conflicts without bloodshed? That is what is occurring with Ukraine. If it fails, I fully see the US arming Ukraine with whatever it needs. Putin dismisses the cease fire, and peace attempts. Ok, if this is what you want..... As per the Israeli war, How much leeway should the Hamas murders be given. When 9/11 happened we went after those involved. Why is it a problem when another country does it. You poke the bear, you get bit.

Maybe the biggest illusion of all is the illusion that there ever really was free trade. If other countries are using tariffs against our products then we need tariffs against theirs. It can’t just be one sided, all of that wonderful “free trade” with everyone else is what hollowed out the middle class and made ghost towns out of Pittsburgh and Detroit.

President Trump said, “Our country has been looted, pillaged, raped, and plundered by nations near and far, both friend and foe alike.” It's nice to find an external enemy for our problems. That way we don't have to place any blame on ourselves. China didn't point a gun at the heads of our politicians and business leaders and force them to send our manufacturing overseas. The "elite" loved the process of paying lower wages to increase profits. Trump himself benefited from this process - Trump Bibles printed for $3 and selling for $59 in the US were printed in China. It's very difficult to refute George Carlin's belief: It's all BS, and it's bad for you.

In the twilight of fiscal constellations, when the eagle casts tariffs like stones upon the river of trade, tremors shall awaken the slumbering behemoths of inflation.

From the north, where timber once flowed freely, scarcity shall kindle a silent fire in the homes of men, and gold, bright oracle of dread, shall ascend as the people seek refuge from crumbling pillars of paper promise.

The stewards of coin, ancient watchers cloaked in policy, shall raise the iron staff of interest to stem the tide, yet in doing so, summon the shadow of stagnation.

Lo, when the sacred number, five thousand and five hundred is sundered in the ledger of the S&P, beware, for the bear shall rise from the depths of numerical prophecy.

The descent of twenty parts from the zenith shall signal not mere correction, but transformation. The wise will read the signs in charts, not stars, but the reckoning is written all the same.
