And speaking of government spending, the DoD's IG has just released a report on the cost of the Iran war, including this: “USCENTCOM reported that Iranian strikes damaged and destroyed hundreds of buildings and structures at U.S. bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, and Jordan.” The IG didn't estimate how much repairs would cost, but an independent analyst thinks maybe $200 billion. I suppose the DoD could do that, altho with what money is a good question. Or, here's a modest proposal: We could decide those bases serve no real purpose and just walk away from them...
Most of them have major damage right now. More damage and it won't take much for us to abandon them. Like JFK's compulsive philandering, this part of the Iran War has not been generally reported in the mainstream media. Still, we walk away from everything sooner or later, based on my personal observation/experience of life in the USA. In the case of Afghanistan, we ran away. In Korea, we have been sneaking out a piece at a time. In Viet Nam, we evacuated a fortunate few off the rooftops with helicopters. President Trump proposes from time to time that we close European bases. I don't know whether he does that for momentary leverage or whether he's actually trying to prepare us for what's coming. As a young "stupid" 18 year old in 65, I participated in the Viet Nam scam. If I remember correctly, we lost 50,000 KIA and about 250,000 wounded or injured for life. Some ended up on drugs for life. Another big political scam. As a country (empire) both parties take us from one empire scam to another...history shows we, as a country, never learn.
The British handed off the imperial hot potato to the USA in the 1950s since they were driven to insolvency by its cost, and we have decided to pass it along to the EU/NATO or whoever else thinks it's a great idea to pick it up.

Example of Fake News: Yesterday afternoon a message from the AP showed up in my inbox with the headline: "Photos of world leaders confronting global crises at the UN General Assembly". The message did, in fact, contain photos from the UN General Assembly. What the message did not convey was the underlying fact: world leaders don't confront global crises; they create them. And it looks like the US is the leader in creating global crises. For instance, If James Baker's promise of not allowing NATO move one inch to the East had been kept there probably would have been no Russian-Ukraine war. If the CIA had not overthrown the Iranian government in 1953 there would have been no war against Iran.
One last thing. There was a civil war in Ukraine for 8 years before the Russian invasion. Ukraine was repeatedly bombing civilians in the Donbass region. What happened to the duty to protect philosophy that the US used to justify their destruction of Libya?

No one seems to notice that while diesel is at all time highs crude is not. With fewer refineries in CA. Trucking in diesel gets expensive. I also feel taxes on diesel are at all time highs as well.

So...take your median wage, and move to a foreign bolthole, where it can actually buy you a house and a car, and food. You too can be upper class - in that country. If they'll have you.
