Just too dang bad, Bill, that you couldn't get Biden to be in charge for another four years - as he was for the prior four years!!! Now THAT would've put the USA on the path to international greatness, with another 25,000,000 illegals (per year)! What a joke the previous administration was. Don't forget the Open Borders. What great planning they had! Planning the demise of US, that is.

Steven King's avatar

You've blamed Trump's predecessor. In a few months you can blame prevailing global economic conditions (war ends with Iran w/o US participation, and ends the petrodollar). Near the end of the year you can send Trump a list of job openings and ask him to prepare 3 letters

Patrick H Neff's avatar

Randall , why the big tangent? Why don't U comment on the subject of today's article. Why go off on an idiotic something U think Biden would have done? What is more perplexing is the 18 idiots who liked Ur abortion.

RANDALL R NORTON's avatar

I don't need to THINK what Biden "would have done". I saw it! Where were you when Biden was doing it? The idiot was clearly Biden. He couldn't think period. Couldn't get off a stage without some helper coming out to get him - and then the helper could not guide him past a sand bag. Were you asleep during the Biden years? There's never been such an incompetent president and you can't see it.

Trump is now a lame (daffy) duck which means he no longer has to pander to his base. His final act is no doubt guided by the policy that it's better to burn out than fade away. Oh well, at least he'll be celebrated in Israel, for as long as it still exists.

Let's hope he goes with a whimper and not a BANG! Unfortunately, he is such a megalomaniac and narcissist it is unlikely. He just can't stand it when he is not bowed down to......and no matter what his reaction is to double down. Yes - ol' Bill - let's hope America slides into a "modest" version of its once hegemony. But, wondering, if the US$ continues its slide into being irrelevance, what might that do to the economy? I would guess the economy may fall into a significant depression resulting in it being substantially less importance on the world stage. Pondering what lies ahead......oh, there are so many roads and it appears ol' DJT is looking up at the Cheshire Cat and asking - "what way should I go?" and the Cat asks - where are you going? And DJT replies "I have no idea". Hence, his complete lack of any strategy - economically or in the Iran War. Except he does like to bomb countries and people. Amazin' time in history as our Republic comes apart.

Kevin Johnson's avatar

He doesn't appear to be all there - somewhat frail and confused. Regardless, the office of the POTUS has been on auto-pilot for a long time now, merely serving as a front for the underlying crime syndicate that actually calls the shots.

An Ol' LSO's avatar

You see clearly. As I think ol’ Bill does too. There aren’t many of us unfortunately

Kevin Leader's avatar

Yes Bill always sees clearly, but not always right, but generally right

An Ol' LSO's avatar

Interesting......."clearly" we think. There is so much going on that us peons or - frankly - no one sees. Deals made and the world never knows. Especially us peons - we get fed so much crap and the includes the vast majority of idiots in Washington. But, they think they know. What I try to "clearly" see and hopefully have a glimmer of is what will affect me and my family. Hard to know since all we see is what happens and that - in itself - is rarely clear too. But, Kevin, we have to keep trying. As does ol' Bill. He provides things to ponder for me..........

Thank you for this piece. I really enjoy your daily writings. I value how you consistently manage to rise above the daily noise and look at events from a wider historical perspective. It always adds a new colour to the picture for me and helps me think more calmly and more structurally about what is going on. Please keep writing.

John S's avatar

Same here Attila - and I notice that here doesn't seem to be quite the same number of BB haters aka Trump true believers, out and about today. Maybe it's finally dawning on them, as it did me about 5 minutes after he became President, that they've been sucked in and BB hasn't been as badly wrong as they thought?

Attila Rebak's avatar

Thanks. To clarify, my original comment was not meant in a political sense. I value the blogger’s broader historical perspective and the calmer, more structured way of thinking he brings when interpreting events.

John S's avatar

I didn't mean to imply that your comment was politically slanted Attila. I too enjoy Bill's perspective, and have done so for a couple of decades, and just find some of the commentators a bit tiresome.

Bill, the sad fact is that you will be 6 feet under before your prediction of a failed empire comes to fruition, if at all. As you know history rhymes, it does not repeat. So while your many, many historical comparisons are interesting they may have no relevance to the American empire.

Secondly, yes the empire is allowed to "wack" those empires whose behavior is both antithetical and disruptive to Amercan values and interest. This has been true throughout history, as you well know. But then as you also know historical facts have never trumped leftist idealogy, as has been played out in the legacy press since the 1960s.

On a grammar issue, in your missive today, you stated "an historical..." where the proper modern English as "a historical..." is the correct grammarical usage. However, in old European English "an" would be correct. Why do I bring this up? Well, I am petty, and secondly in confirmation of some of your reader's beliefs, you are more an European thinker than an American thinker....just saying

RANDALL R NORTON's avatar

"So, a everyday happening!" I'm giving up a other issue as soon as I can, as well!

Hi Bill, maybe you are giving too much credit or not, comparing DJT to the Likes of Cromwell, Napoleon and others. Let us All remember that DJT was Not even a .. Soldier, let alone an Army General… He was a.. Coward!😡

Tom Langdon's avatar

To be sure that is just one man's opinion and nothing more.

Patrick H Neff's avatar

No! Not just one man's opinion but at least two man's knowledge of fact.

History will not treat kindly the US imbroglio with Iran. Its become a genuine mess.

We started it during the Eisenhower Administration because Iran's elected prime minister pledged to nationalize US and British oil firms.

Years later, we even funded Saddam Hussein to wage war against the Iranians. And air power alone won't end it. But it will intensify Iranian enmity toward the US.

Also not in our favor: Our Air Force aircraft and Naval fleet are wearing out faster than they are being replaced; our munitions are being rapidly depleted.

yes but all that firepower is owned by BIBI anyway so it's just another Zionist payback but never worry the real BIG payback is coming soon ..

In 1916 Woodrow Wilson was elected President of the USA on a ticket of keeping the US out of European wars. But not long after his election, J.P. Morgan jr. went to see him to persuade him that the US should join in WW1. He had lent huge sums to the allies who were not doing so well, and he knew that they would default if they did not win. Wilson knew that he could not sway the nation with the slogan: “Make the World safe for J.P.Morgan.” , so he put together a small group to come up with ideas. One of its members was Edward Bernays (1891-1995) who went on to be the master of propaganda. He came up with: “Make the World safe for Democracy.”

So please Bill, when you use this slogan, remember where it comes from and what it really means.

No matter which team you may be on out future or should I say the the future of coming generations doesn't look good. The national debt is fast approaching $39 trillion with a debt of $1 trillion just this year. Plus this war is going to cause the debt to skyrocket. It's time to end the empire before it ends us.

I actually think half the population does want whacking. Talk about real value....

It should have been, when wackos whack too much, they run out of wacks.

Reading history doesn't seem to help leaders make the best decisions. The current situation is a prime example. I voted for the guy but that doesn't mean I like all his decisions.

Jim Marshall.

Gordon's avatar

Maybe if they actually READ some history? Trump doesn't seem to me to be much of a reader, and neither do those with whom he has surrounded himself. And this doesn't just apply to the current administration. This problem goes back at least 30 years or more. And as bad as Trump can be, I have no doubt that Kamala would have been worse. It seems like the powers that be are careful to block any well-read, thoughtful and rational candidates from getting close. Trump managed to break through their barriers, but fortunately for them, it appears that his promises to drain the swamp and expose the Deep State were just more political promises. He probably meant them when he said them (or maybe not?), but had no idea how hard the task would really be. Again, no grasp of history.

Tom Langdon's avatar

Sad but probably true.

Tom Langdon's avatar

For sure, you don't have to like all of Trump's decisions. You are a thinking man with your own opinions based on your truths like most of us.

Conic Tonic's avatar

People are always being whacked some internally and some externally!! Some times you do the whacking and sometimes you get whacked!! It seems to me from your own history lesson BB that that is the lesson we should take.

The commenters of late do seem to be upset with DJT criticism of current events, so getting back to the big picture from a historical viewpoint seems more useful if the aim is to generate and retain wealth with a viable lifestyle somewhere on the planet. How to do that is the tricky part. Giving up on the US and its $ may drag on for a while, so what is coming up that looks hopeful for the next generation? The China approach to getting things done by state directed capitalism looks to get the buy in from most of its 1B + population. The Carney approach of a 1.5B trans europe/pacific economic block seems intriging that should be investable. No doubt BPR has some views.

James ( Jim) Marshall's avatar

Alastair, you may have a point here. It's hard to predict the future....mostly impossible. I see from todays comments the natives on the BPR reservation are restless. Me too! It's hard to say what the chief will do next but the chief will keep us all glued to our screens.

I don't know where I would move to but I am sure I'll never sell any hard assets. History shows they surpass any dumb moves the "big men" of history make.

Bill , love your historical references. I love looking back(Rasputin and his role in the rise of the Bolshevik revolution is interesting) but your somewhat constant negative critique of Trump is misdirected. You might want to start your historical perspective from November of 1963 forward. Explain why we the people cannot get full and total information on events such as 9/11, Epstein, ufo’s etc. why does it take a twice elected president who obviously has pissed off the controlling order. Twice elected, 2 times impeached, relentlessly prosecuted, 2 attempted assassination and yet elected with popular vote and significant electoral win. The pressure must be enormous from the controlling state. Your time (and much appreciated) would be better spent looking back 80 yrs. I do no longer believe it’s all just conspiracy theories. Thanks Bill for your insight.🙂😎

Kepp telling it like it is or might be Bill .. great job as all the nincompoops will drop off along the long trail down to the mean and eventually the revision of power will be balanced briefly as the eastern empire rises once again to take over the role of world enforcer .. I wonder what language currency or toothpaste we'll all be using .. if we're lucky some of us won't be here but it'll be fun to watch from a distance eh .. keep up the great commentary Bill ! it's like a breath of fresh air ..
