Bill-good article regarding the dollar’s demise. Inflation is still a problem. Remember Trump has been in office one month today. How about we give him a little leeway in getting inflation under control. Biden spent 4 years screwing everything he touched; including the inflation of today. I believe that once the drill baby drill attitude the transportation costs will be reduced thereby reducing some of the inflation we have. You sound like an ‘old’ liberal. Give a populous president a chance. AP

Pres. Trump has discombobulated Sen. Chuck Schumer; and, now apparently Bill. All Bill can reluctantly admit is that the cuts are good, but then cynically say that they won't remotely be enough. This is true--because millions of folks, many of them who vote GOP, would be outraged if they were put out of work for a few years during a transition period of very severe budgetary adjustment to prevent a severe downturn in the U.S. economy. But Bill acts like they're these noble beings who would gladly do this for the sake of the U.S., and never backlash electorally, thus placing radicals like Bernie Sanders in charge of the U.S.

But let's not forget, "Bird Flu" is diagnosed using the PCR "test", which is the gift that keeps on giving to the democidal maniacs.

Don’t forget that the PCR test is made in China( to help spread the disease) and part of the globalist agenda of reducing the population. Organic Eggs are one of the most important foods for good health, but these same forces need the public to consume more Cocopuffs and High Fructose products to push their agenda faster and forward. So please continue to Obey our host, keep buying gold, stay away from money making stocks and cryptos and vote for democrats. Bill just wants you all to be happy, like the good folks at the WEF. I agree with several of the comments here that I think Bill should have made mention and specific consideration to the culling of 100 million birds due to Avian flu concerns as this is the main driver of recent change in egg pricing. I am paying the same price for eggs in WI that I have paid for the last couple years? ; but I do use a local producer.

Bill erroneously accuses inflation for egg price increases. The true cause is the government's irrational response to H5N1 avian flu. Inflation is the rise in the general price level. It is, always and everywhere, a monetary phenomenon, caused by the creation of money to pay for excessive government spending. He certainly knows this!! jim putman

It seems to me the point is not whether eggs are $12/dozen because of bird flu or $4.50/dozen ‘pre-bird flu’. The point is in terms of dollars eggs are 10X (at least) more expensive today. A big bag of groceries in 1971 was $20 to $25, including a G of milk, dozen eggs, bread, beef, etc. Hmm… Not today!! “Gold is money. Everything else is debt.” - John Pierpont Morgan

Bill Bonner for 20 years (paraphrasing):

"Energy is the key to everything. Cheap Energy = Cheap Prices. The Cost of everything depends on it, but there is a lag time between Production and when you will start seeing prices coming down - it's baked into the System. Unleash America's Full Energy Potential!"

Donald "The Nemesis" Trump gets in office and removes pretty much ALL artificial restraints on Exploration, Production, Refining, and Transporting in the first 72 hours.

Bill Bonner shows us out-of-context, disingenuous Trump quotes about Inflation after the first (checks notes)... 31 days in office.

Bill Bonner for the past 18 months (paraphrasing):

"This DOGE thing will never work. "Business as Usual" is too deeply entrenched, Elon is too naively lucky and Trump is too incompetently stupid. Besides, any pittance of "savings" this clown show might be able to achieve is just going to go back into the maw of the beast that is your Federal Government. You ALL are fools for having any Faith in what these con men tell you. Trust me - I've seen it all from the inside and out, plus The Donald hurt my feelings about something dumb decades ago, and I just can't let it go."

Fast-forward to today: DOGE & Trump are uncovering, freezing or cutting BILLIONS of dollars in Theft, Fraud and Abuse. Yesterday Trump gives a major update about DOGE and floats the idea of not only giving some of the savings back to net taxpayers, he also, EGADS, talks about using some 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝘁

And Bonner wastes this day and this space prattling on about Eggs. Sadly, if you want to find out what's REALLY going on - BPR ain't the place...

Any thoughts on why the Trump administration hasn't restarted the Keystone XL pipeline? It seems odd to me that it wasn't one of the top priorities...would be such a slam dunk for North Americans' gas prices and the oil companies.

Expand full comment
StarboardEdge's avatar

Great question and I don't know. I would guess there are numerous factors at play - including changed conditions and perhaps Trump now wanting to use the restart as a bargaining chip in other matters.

From the link below:

"However, the original owner of the Keystone XL pipeline project, TC Energy, removed some of the pipeline that had been constructed in anticipation of the project continuing following Trump's 2017 approval."

"A lot of the infrastructure that was in place, some of it is still in place, some of it isn't in place," Flynn said. "Some of the steel has been sold and so to start this particular pipeline, it will take a lot of work, and they still, even though there were pre-approvals, because they have to rebuild parts of the pipeline they may have to go through the local approval process again, so it could be kind of a struggle."

"TC Energy recently spun off its oil pipelines business to a new company, South Bow, which hasn't indicated whether it will attempt to restart the Keystone XL project."

Seems like a lot of moving parts, many of which have either shifted or are no longer on the board...

I am not quite sure on this sending money back to the people part . Does It not cause more inflation? That money is put into circulation from the government. by the way are the ones that cause the inflation. In other words there is an increase in the money supply. It has not been earned nor saved from My view point. I can be made to see more light on this subject.

Expand full comment
StarboardEdge's avatar

I have seen one justification being tied to the fact that this money would be already collected dollars not yet spent, but instead given back to only those whom 𝗻𝗲𝘁 PAY taxes, versus dollars (for everyone) printed from thin air, like we saw compliments of convidjoe.

I'm surely not the guy to give anyone "more light" on this subject, and it's much more likely I'm with you and most of the readers here - assign ALL savings to pay off the existing debt 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 - then let's look at reducing/refunding taxes previously paid.

I am encouraged by the fact that Trump/Musk are taking Politics into consideration with the DOGE program. They'll get a lot more Americans behind the program if they sweeten the deal on a personal level by peeling off a slice of the recovered money and spreading it around to the actual Producers in the Nation...

Expand full comment
Don Hrehirchek's avatar

I agree with DOGE program 100%. Pay off the debt and then at the same time cut government spending. That will alleviate the tax burden on the tax payer and leave more money in His or Her pocket. That is one way to keep the economy going as I believe it is the common person who is the of 75 % that keep things humming.
