Once again, Bill, gives us an essay that states the obvious, and already known to us, situation in America. He, also, elevates a tin pot politician that grabbed the brass ring in NYC to national prominence. Personally, I don’t feel the NYC success or failure [my bet failure] with this new clown has any significance on my personal financial wellbeing. But, Bill wastes ink on him anyway. Here’s an idea, Bill: Write one essay a week, maybe on Sunday when we can ponder your literary excellence over brunch and coffee. Give the week days to Tom and Dan. They actually offer up advice on ways for us to proceed with saving our wealth. I know, I know, cash, metals and shipping stocks with a bit of bitcoin. However, I get something from Tom’s recommendations every week and I get real knowledge from Dan’s explanations every week. What I get from Bill is a daily diatribe on DJT [not much on Sleepy Joe it seemed] and now maybe some stuff on NYC’s debacle. Kind of like a soap opera in that just watch the Friday episode and catch up on everything that happened that week.

Bill is a perpetual pessimist - obviously leans way left politically. I read Bill's junk posts as I would a comic strip....getting a few laughs at his narcissistic & negative personality spewing forth in everything he writes. Well...all writers of editorial type papers have to be dramatic or the papers just don't sell. I would prefer, though, that he (at least) refer to the President as President Trump....clearly delineating a higher level of importance over Bill's own level of importance in the whole scheme of things. Agree...one essay a week (or less) would be more than enough, as occasional comic relief (good grief!). Kudos to Dan for his articles, with detailed explanations...and Tom's, close behind.

Agree except for the comment that Bill is "way left politically." He's a libertarian as far as I can see, but more importantly, he has a terminal case of TDS. So, no balanced analysis of Trump's policies, only negativity.

I first visited NYC in 1961. My Dad, on a business trip, took me to the automat for breakfast. We walked from the hotel to the automat. We went to Yankee Stadium at NIGHT with no particular concern or consideration. The subway walls and the cars had do no defacements. I have made many subsequent visits, and things have never improved. After a while, derelicts relieving themselves in public is no longer shocking. Panhandlers and crooks fencing stolen merchandise no longer surprise. In 1998, I took my own two sons to NYC, and everywhere we went, many single women, all white, would come up to me and each would, in a soft undertone, ask if she could stand next to us. We did not refuse the comfort or the cover. My second son went a year or so ago with his family and said upon return, "Dad, don't go back. Please." Progress, right? Best always. PM

Sadly, I fully agree with Bill's conclusions. I was raised on the American dream and that has been fully dashed. Eisenhower warned of the encroachment of the military industrial complex and Jefferson warned that the biggest threat to the republic would be when the citizens figured out how to get their hands into the treasury. Both warnings were not heeded and we are now at the end of empire in America. At least Rome took a tribute from conquered peoples. We simply enrich our oligarchs by rebuilding the countries that we bomb the crap out of, whilst our government goes bankrupt during times of relative peace with foolish spending on stuff we simply don't need at prices we cannot afford to pay. Now, we will all pay through hyperinflation, as the Federal Reserve has no choice but to return interest rates to the zero bound, or below. This will create an economy awash in cash that will yield much pain and suffering for the common man. All I can suggest is take Tom Dyson's advice and hold things of real value, i.e. precious metals, income producing properties, reliable dividend stocks, cash in your safe, etc. Anything denominated in dollars is subject to Weimar Republic, or God knows Zimbabwe style inflation.

Bill why do you and CNN continue to report "alleged drug boats" are being blown up by the government? We have technology that can see into the boats from the air at a 200 mile distance. Moreover, we are second to Isralies in terms intelligence, with technology and covert ops for which you have no understanding. For God's sake Bill, these drug boats are running three outboard engines skipping across the open ocean at 92 miles per hour. Given those parameters what else can you call them except drug boats.

With regard to your comments on deficit spending, you have for years said the economy can only survive by kicking the can down the road staving off a default indefinitely or until the time when there are no more cans. Yet you continue, and often, demean and exscoreate Trump when he and all of his predecessors spend in the deficit. You have always said "inflate or die". Yet when our leaders inflate you call them names. As you say "money is our beat" so please tells us what needs to be done in order to balance our budget. I am well aware that our political system would never do what it takes, but your readers would very much appreciate your plan to balance our budget.

Balance the budget? "Money" has nothing to with it. The budget (show me one from the last 20 years btw) is a blueprint. We don't bother with that anymore. We just wing it, making it (and the money) up as we go along. You know, dependent on whatever votes or constituency need to be brought "on board". Best always. PM

Bill has no solutions except for broad generalities. But to come to his defense to a degree, and that's saying a lot because I bash him constantly for his inane comments, Bill says "inflate or die" not because he believes it as a policy, but because he believes the government has put us in a position which makes this the only option. The only other option is to drastically reduce government spending (which is most likely politically undoable since we are at a point where too many people believe in handouts and the Democrat party is their advocate) and grow the economy, the latter of which Trump is trying to do. I don't think this will be enough.

Sometimes you get what you vote for. If enough of those NYC policeman accept those 5 thousand dollar offers from other cities and leave, NYC residents may get to experience first hand what a large US city encounters without adequate police protection. They may end up begging for "anyone" to send in the national guard, even Trump. Also, all those women that voted for Muslim leadership in NYC might have studied all Muslim country leadership and see how many women are in leadership positions in those countries. Also, there don't seem to be "any" women walking around in public wearing the latest fashion design outfits in Muslim countries. Obviously, being a man prevents me from understanding NYC women's voting logic. I'm sure that some of you youngsters can enlighten an old fuddy duddy like myself, why those NYC women voted in mass for Muslim control.

That is absolutely spot-on. Technology accelerates time. People now have more propaganda (as opposed to information and knowledge) thrown at them in huge heaps. And, most, are busy struggling with life to give it any real thought even if they were aware enough to think it through. Voting is a "joke" since the elites pick what choices are offered. Statesman and statesmanship are antiquated ideas. There are those that go into politics, those that going into finance and corporation structure and the masses are the working stiffs. Like Jim said in Blazing Saddles - “What did you expect? ‘Welcome, Sonny?’ ‘Make yourself at home?’ ‘Marry my daughter?’ You’ve got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know—morons.” And, that has worked because of the "exorbitant privilege" America has had and squandered away it in a few short decades. Greed comes with the elites and why they want Power and then Money. Similar to the minorities in NYC - they want things for free. It is human nature. And, it is going to get uglier quicker than anyone knows. It is impossible to imagine how chaotic this is going to be - especially, when supply chains break and shelves are empty. Horrific may turn out to be too kind.

Both Republican and Democrat politicians are complete losers and idiots. CUT government spending by 10% across the board. No department gets a pass. Also, go back to the budget approved in 2018 or earlier. If we continue on the road created by both political parties, those that are able prepare to move to another country. You are right. It is a copout to blame the politicians. The citizens are to blame and the politicians are just reflections (for the most part) of what the citizens think. Or they are just not paying attention. Probably a little of both. But, pretty soon, not paying attention will not be an option.

Fortunately for every other country in the world and the world itself, a phoenix has arisen which doesn’t just preach “peace” and “prosperity”, but actually practices both. In the greatest of ironies, China does NOT rejoice in the cruel collapse of Israel and the US, but, inspired in part by US/Flying Tiger support during WWII, is creating a world of REAL “Peace and Prosperity” to which the US will always be invited to join. Trump, the unfortunate heir and literal epitome of US proud-full hate, destruction and murder (27 million foreign dead since WWII), is merely administering the final blows.

I don’t know about the 70 million but do you know that in the United States certain media groups love to say that. But I do know about the 1970’s cultural revolution wherein students persecuted and killed their teachers. I get the impression from talking to survivors and others aware of that absurdity, that almost nothing is more scary to the average Chinese than any other political action that could be taken by the government. Even that was a partial rebellion against the government. Regarding Xinjiang, the Uighur province, I believe that it has the highest growth rate of any province and is now just booming—probably because so many of its inhabitants have learned Chinese and can participate more in its economy and its Muslim majority has apparently conformed to Chinese law requiring ALL religions’ leaders to be appointed or at least approved by the Communist party which favor internal and external peacemaking, not warmaking as preached in practice and reality by both our dominant religions and our War Department.

I don’t know if you’re kidding And I don’t know how much the threat of death makes China so safe, but on several occasions I’ve dropped money on the sidewalk and in each case bystanders have come running after me to return the money. I’m also aware that the Communist party prosecutes about 80,000 of its own members for all kinds of crimes and that sometimes involves capital punishment. Have you ever heard of the Democrat or Republican parties disciplining their own members? Bill has pointed out specific examples of members of the current administration who are making millions by forgiving criminals—even when it directly harms their victims. And I won’t even mention ordinary street crime that’s rampant in the United States and practically nonexistent in China.
