My rule of thumb is to consider all "news" as fake until proven otherwise. If these ICE "crimes" are indeed happening, I would hope that the rule of law would apply for both parties involved. Unfortunately, anymore in the West justice is no longer blind, it's meted out based on politics.

For example: they get 6-8 weeks training so less than half a policeman, they have loads of accountability gaps including no civil remedy so allows them to act with impunity if they wish, agents masked faces, used unmarked vehicles, made it "difficult for people to know whether they were being criminally abducted" or not, there are reports of agents using autistic children as "bait," beating man holding toddler during seizure, shooting U.S. citizens, no Misconduct File Cross-Checks done, many new ICE hires had prior legal issues, police misconduct allegations, bankruptcies, failures at police academy training, rushed hiring and so on.

Then if you check the detention centre thing, the evidence comes from: direct testimony, independent monitoring orgs, government sources, litigation and court records and media investigations.

It doesn't take a minute a to fact check these ideas using AI (Lumo is good) and then look at the sources and see what you make of them. The review would allow these applicants to submit letters from their employer, their house of worship, neighbors, clubs, etc to vouch for their character.
This review could also make it easier for those who are scheduled for an asylum hearing to have it adjudicated faster and with more certainty.
Finally, I am not in favor of armed groups of masked men rounding up people whom they have reason to believe are here without prior approval.
But I am in favor of more benign ways to identify these people

It might be time for a eye examination. Summary execution is a bit much, try any of the tactics used by the anti ICE protesters against any police force in 90% of US cities and see if you don't end up on a slab. Contrary to the recent understanding of the judicial system in America, no criminal prosecution can begin until the defendant has either been formerly arrested by the police or turns themselves into the police.
As such it becomes necessary to send out the police to round up those unwilling to turn themselves in. Some are very unwilling, the police carry firearms not to protect the public by themselves from criminal aggression. That is a fact of law enforcement ask your local police or politician of either political party. This is not to say a police officer will not occasionally use his firearm to protect the innocent, but that is not what it was issued.

Isn't the real question whether the Fed ultimately has only two choices? Either allow long-term Treasury yields to rise, with all the consequences for government financing and asset prices, or suppress yields through bond purchases (yield curve control), effectively monetizing part of the debt. I live in Indiana, but I am in Texas regularly, travelling there since 1994, and I have seen what is happening over the last 30 years with an outsider's perspective. It's interesting how the equity markets are treating all this bad news. The SPY has hit all time highs and is up 3.27% today and the QQQ gapped up at the open and has just kept climbing. It's up 3.2% as of now. It makes me think that maybe some of the gold bugs and doom and gloomers are missing something somewhere. Equity markets is just a descriptive label. Humans program the algorithms and can override them anytime. Smaller intermarket trades are made all day long by program trading, but the major strategy is handled by management.

The list is so long....
Then if you check the detention centre thing, the evidence comes from: direct testimony, independent monitoring orgs, government sources, litigation and court records and media investigations.

The review would allow these applicants to submit letters from their employer, their house of worship, neighbors, clubs, etc to vouch for their character.
This review could also make it easier for those who are scheduled for an asylum hearing to have it adjudicated faster and with more certainty.
Finally, I am not in favor of armed groups of masked men rounding up people whom they have reason to believe are here without prior approval.
But I am in favor of more benign ways to identify these people

It might be time for a eye examination. Summary execution is a bit much, try any of the tactics used by the anti ICE protesters against any police force in 90% of US cities and see if you don't end up on a slab. Contrary to the recent understanding of the judicial system in America, no criminal prosecution can begin until the defendant has either been formerly arrested by the police or turns themselves into the police.
As such it becomes necessary to send out the police to round up those unwilling to turn themselves in. Some are very unwilling, the police carry firearms not to protect the public by themselves from criminal aggression. That is a fact of law enforcement ask your local police or politician of either political party. This is not to say a police officer will not occasionally use his firearm to protect the innocent, but that is not what it was issued.

Either allow long-term Treasury yields to rise, with all the consequences for government financing and asset prices, or suppress yields through bond purchases (yield curve control), effectively monetizing part of the debt. I like it; I'm for it. My fear is this: rapid urbanization of key areas of the state creates a mass that is impossible to offset. I live in Indiana, but I am in Texas regularly, travelling there since 1994, and I have seen what is happening over the last 30 years with an outsider's perspective. I'll be going again (with trepidation) in October. The rapidly growing areas are the dominant, big cities, the I-35 corridor and Houston, which are "blue" by definition. I can't see how Texas stays "red" for long. It's worse each time I am there. Best always. PM

I have 5 kids. 2 boys, 3 girls, all born between 1980-1987 (and then, finally, came the "Big V"!). One, a son, is looking at Panama now. He wants Mom and Dad to go with him. He's hoping to be able to hold out long enough to get his kids out of college (8 years to go). His business is already there. His partner already lives in the Caymans. Another, a son, moved to Texas (metro-Dallas, you know, the place with Spanish-only billboards on 1-35) years ago thinking he was escaping communism. The three girls live in Boston. One flies a Rainbow Flag on her porch, and another has a picture of Bernie Sanders by the door in her multi-million dollar home. There will be no shooting. The time for that was 40 years ago. The conservative, traditional-values Boomers, which are the bulk of the Right in this country, will be gradually retiring. That might be enough to restore consensus politically, socially, and politically for the country to continue as a union, albeit a democratic-socialist one. At that point, I'll either be dead or won't care. It will be sad for me personally, but if that's what the majority wants, so be it. We're supposedly for self-determination in this "country". One thing sure: the country will continue to decline to irrelevance through discord and dysfunction the way we are going. Another option is to get wise to radicalising effects of social media (as exhibited on here as elsewhere) and get to a place where political debate is more fact-based, balanced and tolerant.

It's interesting how the equity markets are treating all this bad news. The SPY has hit all time highs and is up 3.27% today and the QQQ gapped up at the open and has just kept climbing. It's up 3.2% as of now. It makes me think that maybe some of the gold bugs and doom and gloomers are missing something somewhere. I've never read this much negativity in my life other than the covid months and the great RE recession. I'm playing it defensive but I still own some AI stocks and some tech stocks. I'm a believer in gold and silver for insurance. But it's not in my nature to hide in a cave month after month. I guess we can bash Trump to pass the time.
Can you really call them equity markets when a majority of trading is done by algorithms? The machines see a headline that there is a possible truce with Iran and they go crazy.
Equity markets is just a descriptive label. Humans program the algorithms and can override them anytime. Smaller intermarket trades are made all day long by program trading, but the major strategy is handled by management.
