When I was a child, and watched how the hippie’s, communist and liberals acted in my neighborhood of NY City, with the drug craze, anti-American rhetoric and school promoted hatred and disrespect of elders, it was then at a young age that I realized liberalism was a mental disorder. I’ve been explaining it to people for decades, even had an old radio personality take my saying and become famous for that fact. If you still have any doubt of that truth, look at the democrat party today. If you can’t see it, you are most likely a liberal, and the rest is self explanatory 😵‍💫

Steve, you won't get any argument from me. However, the liberalism you're referring to is the new version deeply rooted in Marxism. We shouldn't lose sight of the fact that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Locke, and the majority of America's founding fathers were all Liberals. Back then, Liberals were advocates for free market and laissez-faire economics, civil liberties under the rule of law with special emphasis on individual autonomy, limited government, economic freedom, political freedom, and freedom of speech. When the Marists hijacked the Liberal moniker the old Liberals began referring to themselves as Classical Liberals. We see the same hijacking of the definition for Conservatism. The Marxist inspired Neoconservatism is diametrically opposed to the old version of Conservatism practiced here in America since it's founding. The hijacking of definitions is right out of the Marxist playbook. Our children and grandchildren won't learn about of the definition hijacking in school because they're being instructed by Marxists. Its up to us to shine the light on this definitional theft so it doesn't die with us. I know I'm not saying anything you don't already know. It just bugs me that our intellectually lazy society just sat back and let the Marxists change our definitions with virtually no push back.

Absolutely 100% correct Craig! As the greatest generation are dying off, they have been replaced with those same demented, drug abusing, immoral, Godless, communist freaks that have taken over our schools, entertainment, sports, medicine and government. Highly educated useful idiots. I still know real liberals that fight for small government and their right to do whatever they want within our laws. Real liberals, not the communists version you speak of. The entire country has been hijacked from within, with much support from China of course. Can’t fix stupid and no hope for the mental illness running our country…

Loved him, but he did steal my saying! Tough environment for Americans to survive in after the communist takeover. We will see how much corruption is exposed in these next coming months, and if we can turn this insanity around, but I’m not too optimistic.

Yes brother Altschule, the problem is so much deeper, and of course I know it, but I've been eating Organic since the late 80s, hate democrats and Rino's equally, fully understand that there are no conspiracies, only truths and facts of our dying culture, and blame it all on the demented liberal, the anchor around America's neck, drowning her... Just my life experiences proving me right:)

SL: Maybe you should open up your mind since it's been closed for a very long time. People and politics change esp., the Republicans. Look how they have changed since Donald got in and not for the better.

Expand full comment

Dorothy, Steve's mind is not closed--it's what you libs always say to conservatives. What you mean is that he has long-standing principles that guide his outlook, unlike the which-way-is-the-popular-wind-blowing unanchored thoughts of libtards.

Expand full comment

BH: No. If that were the case (long standing principles that guide his outlook), he is living in a different world now. What was once a good party is not necessarily good today. The Republicans use to be one but it has changed drastically, esp., with the MAGA Republicans...they talk a lot, but do nothing!

Expand full comment

Dorothy, no matter what world we live in, principles will always matter--versus the idiotic currents of the prevailing fads that do nothing to advance understanding. I am glad we're not the checked-pants, country club d-bag Republicans of old, who were only too happy to go along with Dems so they wouldn't get bad press. And as for the Dems, the fringe will turn on you as well. Good luck with that.

Those elected to serve in Washington tend to come from the elite class, and whatever their roots, they are now part of that class, and thus their loyalty and motivations tend to serve the interests of that class. And they are surrounded and supported by the leaders and employees of the federal agencies and apparatus who tend to share similar interests.

Those elected to office are motivated to seek re-election, but find it easier to manipulate the media - even through blatant violations of the First Amendment - than to actually try to help their constituents. And of course, the help that is needed most is to reduce dramatically the regulatory load, which is directly contrary to the interests of the regulatory apparatus that they have built up.

Sad to say, I don't think we can elect our way out of a problem we have elected our way into. Many will protest that they didn't vote for our current situation, which is true, but here we are. I am reminded of the quote by Lysander Spooner: Our Constitution is unfit for purpose. It either authorizes such behavior as we now behold, or is powerless to prevent it.

Of course, there is also the quote, attributed to Jefferson, I think, that says: Our constitution was designed for a virtuous and honorable people, and will not serve for any other.

In my opinion, the only way out is return to founding principles, especially those of limited government. I find it interesting the manner in which liberals twist language. The founders were the true “progressives”. All others have been “regressive” in progressive livery.

Expand full comment

Kam, I'd argue that our Founders were true Liberals. John Locke is universally referred to as the Father of Liberalism. Jefferson and Company plagiarized Locke when drafting the Bill of Rights. The Liberalism currently soiling America is the Marxist version. When the Marxists stole the Liberal Moniker they could have at least had the decency to name their version Neoliberalism. Hell, at least they did that with Neoconservatism. I know what I'm saying is not new to you, but we should shine the light on this definition hijacking so it doesn't die with us.

The nonsense just never ends. If one watches MSM, and thinks they are getting news, they are just being sold a bill of goods.

Anyone who read alternative news can see this is spades and even CNN is now realizing they must change to realism or they are done for.

Wonder of wonders. Bonner actually writes a column fully in agreement with free market principles - no landmines, no sidetracking, etc. It's what I have been expecting from him as a regular occurrence. Unfortunately, it happens much too rarely. But I'll take it when I get it and tip my hat and compliment him on a good column. I hope we get more of this.

“Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., led the letter on Monday morning, calling on Biden to "exercise your executive authority to take additional action to address rising food prices without congressional action."

Obviously, Biden has zero executive authority to do that. But in this era of unbridled executive power grabs, that no longer matters.

"And if corporate CEOs really were prosecuted for price increases — much like the show trials in Moscow in the 1930s or the ‘struggle sessions’ in Mao’s China — the country would slip backward... like the Soviet Union... until the whole system crashed and was discarded." From Bill's missive today

Since Bill prides himself on connecting dots, I wonder if he sees any similarities between what happened in the Soviet Union and the show trials taking place in Manhattan and those coming soon to D.C. and Florida?

Bill, I think you came up with the perfect definition for Economic Degenerate: "In other words, instead of worrying about the real cause of inflation — themselves! — lawmakers want to sic Justice Department lawyers on businesses that raise prices."

While in business in the 70's I suffered through price controls and it was not fun. I could not buy goods or services. If I had not had a section of my business that was pretty well immune to the stupidity of government my business would have failed. (service) If they institute price controls in the current and near future economic environment I think you will see extreme food hardship. Riot anyone?

I am reading Solzhenitsyn’s “Gulag Archipelago “. It’s long, insightful and sometimes boring. History probably repeats itself because human nature remains the same.

The Soviets, the supposed people, under the direction of Stalin killed about 40 million, not counting the casualties of The Great Patriotic War and starvation. The GPU apparatus probably comprised about a million complicit citizens that apart from committing horrendous atrocities normally went home to their families.

How were they able to do this, like the Nazis in the death camps?

Everyone needs to justify their actions; individually, this is a good thing.

Mass atrocities are committed by people who are governed by an ideology.

Everything, all these isms.

We are all governed by some dogma that is imposed. We live by philosophies, and it makes us crazy.

Christ gave us an example and a philosophy, a set of values.

Anything else is just the vanities of man and leaves us open to becoming the likeness of all the ills we continually bemoan.

“True religion is to love God and your neighbor. You must worship in spirit and truth. I am the truth and the way into the Kingdom of God.”

Anything else is just spitting into the wind.

Me, I fear for my soul and my tendency towards evil that’s why I try with all my energy to walk in the ways of God, to protect myself from participating in the atrocities of men.

Sometimes, more often than we would like, that leads to the final act of Christ, torture and death.

I would hope like Christ and Uncle Tom I could find the strength, in my beliefs, to choose death and torture.

I cringe at the thought. I am a weak shit. Hopefully, Grace is abundant.

Will Loonie Lizzie Fauxcahontas Liawahta Warren ever learn?

Based upon her age (not that I would ever ask), she was a living, breathing organism in 1972, when then-President Richard M Nixon attempted price controls. If she could tell the truth, she would say that those did not work.

But, being that she has graduated to the post of Senator, I doubt that she could tell the truth. Which must be the motivation behind her letter of bamboozlement directed toward the demented husk that occupies the White House.

She might get what she wants. But will it make the lives of any person in the nation affected by these higher prices better? Or would it just be a new bunch of scalps for her to hang on her office wall?

I'll leave it to greater fools to answer those questions.

I think Bill does a pretty good job of putting an article out that drives a great discussion in the comments. I would bet he’s trying to drive discussion from the readers both pro and con. Plus this is/was an investment newsletter so how to preserve wealth is the subject and not how to save the world. Only God can save it now. As I served this country for 23 years and don’t recognize the country I fought for. All the politicians are serving themselves. With the military leadership toeing the line supporting them. Only the good Lord knows how this will end.

Respectfully,

TL

Also it is like returning to childhood. Start out in diapers and end in diapers!

We struggle because that is what we were taught to do. Then we try to give our kids the best we can afford and our grandchildren even more(because they are cuter). I made my children work for things and they got older “beater” cars to start out with. My granddaughter just got a 2024 Honda from her parents! She has no idea of how to struggle. Then on the opposite end you have kids that don’t have fathers or even know who they are. So they really struggle unless they just decide to take what they want without struggling, they end up in jail (but under sleepy joe they only spend a day in jail) so they can take again. That is different in the RED states for the most part. Could a civil war or secessions happen in the future?

Yikes! Which Altschule is this? You have, in general, at least until lately, been very complimentary towards Bonner. You've criticized me for taking Bill to task at nowhere near the level that you do above. I happen to agree with your comment, but I am a little puzzled since this is one of the few columns where Bonner doesn't praise Russia and China, and lament how unfairly they are being treated by the USA. I suppose you just decided to let it all out here.
