The biggest problem in the US is NOT “too much (fake) money.” That’s just a major symptom. The biggest problem is moral disintegration and deviation from America’s founding Biblical worldview.

Thank you Bill for your wisdom.

I read your words and feel anger towards our representatives in Congress.

Those who are part of the con read your words and feel anger towards you.

Should Trump regain the presidency and republicans both houses there would be a unique opportunity to set us on an entirely different course... it will come anyway with the only question being before or after the collapse... Nothing like a little hope. Trump has Kennedy, advocating for health and children against the cabal of evil. He also has Tulsi a devoted veteran, Vivek smart enough to see what is happening, Megyn who is smart enough to see the evil in wokism, Elon who is fighting for free speech. Lots of hope and defenders of the US Constitution and anti war.

Yes Mack, but Kamala has Xi Ping and 40 million Chinese/ American nationalists behind her. Not including the communists in our media, entertainment, sports and education systems. The “cabal of evil” is America…we just don’t belong here anymore 🤔

I retired two years ago from an engineering career with the Department of the Navy. Bill has nailed it perfectly. I remember working on the DDG-1000 program which is an epic failure just like the Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) which my buddy who was a retired Navy officer called the Little Crappy Ships. The Navy Secretary (I think Rumsfield) forced the Marines to give up alot on artillery because the Navy was developing guided projectiles like the Raytheon Extended range Guided Munition or ERGM and a larger one for the DDG1000. None ever made it and luckily the Marines go the M777 155mm howitzers and the extended range Excaliber (from Raytheon) that actually worked but recent reports from the Ukraine say it is now easily jammed???? All the Navy program officers retired and were given high paying jobs with these contractors. I have more recent examples but I don't want to give away any pertinent info to potential foes.

Hi Bob, I live not far from Bath Iron Works that built a few DG1000 Zumwalts. They looked absolutely magnificent and lethal sailing down the Kennebec River to their se trials. I guess it was these trials that highlighted their shortcomings: stalling engines (that ain't good), ammo for the "rail gun" that was about a $1,000,000/shell (are these the ERGMs?), and, despite its cool-looking design, struggled in the "stealth" department. All for the bargain price of over 4 billy per. What a colossal waste!

But you miss all the side benefits of that huge investment. Think about it. We got Tang and Velcro out of NASA.

The special rounds for the 155mm Advance Gun System for the DDG1000 was called the Long Range Land Attack Projectile built by Raytheon and Lockheed Martin. Like the 5"/62 caliber ERGM, LRAP never worked. It would have made more sense to use in-service Army/USMC conventional 155mm rounds. I loved going to bath in the Summer. Worked on the DDG-51 class built there. Last effective ships we built.

I’ll never forget back in the 90s there was a sack base close to our business and all the locals wanted us to commit dollars to advertise and rally around the Air Force Base to keep it because it was such an economic impact on the community in a good way, and I looked at him and said you folks are nuts. This thing is gonna go away, they didn’t want to let go. They couldn’t see the writing on the wall times move on things change start building drones!!!!!

And from the news today, we see how easily hacker can weaponize electronics. Apparently the Israelis have managed to explode nearly 3000 pagers, causing much distress to Hezbollah. US, the Chinese made a lot of the electronics in our weapons systems. Are you really sure you want to try starting a "shooting" war with them?

A proven strategy that despite wars equal big money let us not forget that excrement coated bamboo sticks and flip flops defeated the US in Vietnam.

Robes and sandals brought down the US in Afghanistan.

And drones are available on Alibaba for pennies on the dollar. Does the SS (Secret Service) know this when protecting politicians?

I read somewhere that the Abrams Tanks have a diesel engine that has to be run constantly and puts out a big infrared heat signature that puts a big bullseye on its position on the battlefield.

Expand full comment
Mark1's avatar

My understanding is that it’s powered by a turbine engine which puts out a much hotter signature, even visible from satellites. If memory serves me, I think it was Byron King who pointed that out.

Kudos, great question Mr Abbott. Though personally, not holding my breath for a direct reply.

For the benefit of our fellow BPR subscribers, we can begin to front run some things for ourselves. For example, Mr Dyson mentions one of his favorites, “Priced in Gold”. It is free! Here’s Charles Vollum’s email delivered free on 18 Sept 2024 from Priced in Gold:

National currencies and bonds moved lower and cryptos rose, while stocks and commodities were mixed.

Bitcoin and the 30 crypto index had the largest gains, rising 9.4% and 9.1% respectively. Outside of crypto, gold stocks rose 9.0% and palladium advanced 8.1%.

The largest losses were in national currencies, with the Canadian Dollar down 2.8%, The US Dollar down 2.7%, and the Euro down 2.6%.

Bonds were also down; short term treasuries fell 2.5% and long term treasuries were off 1.8%. More on Weekly Update 13 Sep 2024.

Cheers,

So true. Thank you Bill for explaining in such clear terms.

But everything government does raises costs for the consumers.

The same can be said of Big Pharma - what business does the government have requiring people to get immunizations (not just Covid)?

What business does government have requiring auto industry to meet energy efficiency or safety requirements?

And many more examples like this.

These are not American values upon which the U.S. was founded. It was founded on people's retaining the right to choose how to live, and not being told by govt.

Drones, IEDs and Pagers.

We have wasted and are wasting a sh*tton of money following select Military Strategies left over from WWII with regard to Weapons Development and Procurement. There are lots of new high tech bauble systems, but most everything is still coming from the Shock & Awe, Brute Force neighborhood. Apparently we changed Tactics after Vietnam (I saw this firsthand from '90-'98), but Equipment & Weapon Systems Philosophy - not so much...

PS - I heard the hottest new nickname in Lebanon is Wa'bul. It translates as "Gimpy"...
