If we had a professional press instead of mindless propagandists they would be asking the candidates this question of how they are going to address our out of control debt and spending. In Harris's case she held no open interviews only scripted affairs. I knew the Fed and the treasury had to keep the faltering economy and stock market bubble from bursting prior to the election but after today who knows.

Let’s hope that it does burst…..bring on the day of reckoning that is clearly inevitable and then force the powers that be to face up to results of their pathetic spending and fiscal mismanagement habits. I must admit to a sense of evil curiosity when I wish this. To watch our erudite leaders manage and attempt to repair the unraveling of so many bad decisions would be wryly amusing. Please forgive me for self indulgence……

No need for that. Since the day it started, 1913, 1933, 1965, 1971 (pick your start date, doesn't matter which; they all get you to same place), they never intended to "address" it, much less "fix" or "stop" it. I don't agree. I don't want to go full commie. Socialism take decades, centuries to undo. and then everyone loses their freedom in the mean time. Look at Argentina and China. Argentina retained democracy where as China is totally authoritarian with re-indoctrination and lost body parts.

But I must admit I want a financial collapse to force realization on the political elite, those who think they are controlling the economy. On the other hand I don't want it for my kids and grandkids. I suppose I hope for a superficial financial collapse where economic realization occurs but not the collateral damage. Foolish hope; because I suspect the result would be drastically more spending and printing and more of what we've been experiencing lately.

Sitting here waiting for results, I am terrified. Harris provides a total collapse of the system. Just an open border will destroy the country or cause civil war. And while I think maybe four more years of disaster will finally make American see the light, I’m afraid it will be too late to repair the damage. On the other side, if Trump wins, depending on the results in congress, it may be impossible to repair enough damage to keep him from being blamed (as usual) four years down the road. Close the border. Drill. Shut down Iran. After that? God help us all.

If I remember correctly...it is the responsibility of the wealthy, the elite, the governing class to entertain the poor, the ignorant, the simple. It is our responsibility to prepare the insults, the rotten vegetables and the occasional dead, stinking raccoons to pelt them with. So during the 'show' we should be diligent in sharpening the hoes and axes, straighting the pitchfork tines, and saturating the torches; maybe heating the tar and plucking the chickens. After the upper class scurry to their bolt-holes, I hope to come along and weld their steel doors shut and sh!t in the ventilation shafts. Then cultivate the crops and care for the livestock. I may be and hope to be simple but I'm not stupid.

European Media mostly in Melt down mode (or mood)

Expand full comment
Gone Fishin’'s avatar

Hi Petra,

Please share a couple or a few links you think are indicative of the media melt down you’re seeing.

There is a lot more (8 specific steps in the process) yet to happen in the U.S.

#1 The people have voted Election Day, registered voters in each state cast their ballots not directly for presidential candidates but for a slate of State’s electors pledged to those candidates. Each state has a number of electors equal to its total number of Senators and Representatives in Congress, plus three electors from Washington, D.C., as established by the 23rd Amendment.

#2 Determining Elector Votes

After the general election, each state counts its popular votes. Most states use a “winner-takes-all” approach, where the candidate receiving the most votes in that state gets all of its electoral votes. However, Maine and Nebraska allocate some electoral votes based on congressional district outcomes.

#3 The electors from each state convene on the 1st Monday after the 2nd Wednesday in December following the election (in 2024, this will be December 17). During this meeting, they formally cast their electoral votes for president and vice president.

Thats it for now from me until I can think about the rest of what is still ahead.

Okay, got some ☕️coffee☕️ in me now, here is a little more.

#4 Certification of Votes - Once the electors have cast their votes, they prepare official documents “certifying their results”.

#5 Submission of certification - The certified results must be sent to several parties:

The President of the Senate (who is the current sitting Vice President AND who’s is also presidential candidate Harris),

The National Archives and Records Administration,

The federal court with jurisdiction over each state’s capital,

State officials.

These certificates must arrive in Washington, D.C., by December 25 following the election.

Now, this is where thing can go wrong for a President Elect

#6 Counting Electoral Votes

On January 6 following the election (in 2025), Congress meets in a joint session to count these electoral votes. The Vice President (Harris, who is the presiding President of the Senate) presides over this session and opens each state’s certificate one by one while members from both chambers tally them.

#7 Declaring Results …and this is where things can go even more wrong for a President Elect… it can get really twisted

I’ll have to think about this a little more.

Cheers for now

Mark

Hi Mark, thanks for the reminder on that complicated procedure. Had a deep dive into the matter following 2020 elections.

With respect to your question:

Public broadcasters, forcibly financed by each citizen* with a home are huge in GER and much more dominant than e.g. NPR.

They're parroting the government policies as long as they are leftist.

Sorry to sound highly biased but there's tons of evidence for their preference.

They covered the election for almost 24hours and it was a unlimited bashing of Tump turning into whining if not signs of panic the clearer the figures came in.

So for sure the biggest share of viewers were served with that menu

They get close to 10 billion USD per year from the population. (Except homeless and refugees)

Cheers 🙋

Hallo Petra, this is not so much in media per se. Here’s what I’ve been reading. Any thoughts?

Original Source Attribution - Germany Gov’t First Shake-Up With Trump Victory

Posted Nov 6, 2024 By Martin Armstrong

Germany is the first real casualty of Trump’s victory. Europe is also turning to the right, rejecting the same losing leftist policy spouted out by Harris. Chancellor Olaf Scholz just fired Finance Minister Christian Lindner, putting at risk the collapse of the German ruling coalition between the SPD and the Greens after three years. There have been differences in the budget and economic policy positions between the two factions. Lindner’s departure could lead to the FDP exiting the coalition.

Lindner of the FDP issued a paper that outlined his vision to revive the German economy. However, it argued against both fundamental positions of the SPD and the Green party. Hence, the German Finance Minister Christian Lindner has realized that the solutions undermine the socialist and green agendas. His paper provided a practical attempt to analyze Germany’s problems facing Germany. However, it argues that they have been unable to agree upon a 2025 budget, which still had a funding gap of several billion euros and was still being negotiated. The deadline for the budget was set for later this month.

Gute Nacht

Dear Mark, that is quite accurate. The German liberal party FDP once was the herald for a strong and independent market approach, avoiding gov. overreach etc..

Those times are long gone.

They're as woke and ”green” as all other parties, considered to be establishment.

Only one exception existing. Alternative for GER, AFD.

So in the past almost three years the FDP supported almost any motion of the coalition partners, even the most controversial to their alleged “values”.

The last four regional elections saw them reduced to “other parties” so not even worth mentioning the individual results.

Of course a huge wake up call but much to late. So Scholz, the chancellor just shortcut the nuisance. He himself is anyway a puppet.

Something else. The president of Germany is another SPD-Shill who is about the most shameful individuals to ever play that role.

His five minute statement to Trump's win is a pure imposition and disastrous example of anti diplomacy.

That hunk was foreign minister before…..

Finally, we get an equal critical evaluation of the "other" canidate. Obviously, as Bill indicates, the gates of hell are about to open with one canidate and may be delayed with the other. It's the old story, "you can pay now or pay later, but you are going to pay". The problem is how many months or "years" will we pay. Let's pray that Tom's scenario of the bottom will be the Dow/Gold ratio of 5. The "big" question is when will we finally get a comparable leader like the current Argentina president.
