Frequently asked questions for new subscribers to Bonner Private Research
If I’ve paid for a subscription, how do I login to my account to read your research?
You do NOT need a unique username and password to login to your account. But you DO need to login to Substack.
Also please note that if you previously had a subscription to The Bonner-Denning Letter through Rouge Economics, or to Tom’s Portfolio, your username and password for those subscriptions will NOT work here.
Once you’re logged into your Substack account, you’ll able to see BOTH the free posts (five days a week from Bill Bonner and weekends from Joel Bowman) and the subscriber only posts from Investment Director Tom Dyson and Editorial Director Dan Denning).
What if I forgot my password or don’t remember setting one up at all?
Creating, forgetting, and resetting your password are common issues with any new service or website. Here’s a quick guide to resolving any trouble you may be having.
1. If you want to create an account with Substack, and a password, so you can subscribe to Bill Bonner’s free e-mail, click here.
2. If you already created a Substack account but have accidentally logged out and want to log back into to read your research, click here.
3. If you forgot your password or don’t remember setting one up in the first place, you may need to re-set it. You can do that here.
What is Substack and why do I have to use it?
Think of Substack as YouTube for newsletters and writers. It’s a place to find lots of great content and create a collection of writers you value and want to follow and read.
It’s a ‘platform company’ that allows writers like us to easily deliver our best ideas to you via e-mail and a website. Once you create an account with Substack, you can subscribe to Bonner Private Research or many other writers. And once you’re logged into your account, ALL of your subscriptions appear in one place.
It can be a little confusing at first. But once you’re logged in, all of your content is one easy-to-find and easy-to-read place. That's why the four of us (Bill, Tom, Joel, and myself) chose it. It allows us to easily publish our research an analysis to thousands of people.
Where are the weekly updates and monthly newsletters?
Once you ARE logged in, you should be able to see ALL the posts--both free and paid. Tom publishes his weekly updates on Wednesdays and his monthly issues on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Each post for paying subscribers has a little padlock icon next to it. This indicates the post is ‘locked’ and only visible to paying subscribers.
In the coming weeks, we're going to add some buttons at the top which make it easier to find information by category (Bill's daily, Tom's weekly, the monthly newsletter, the Bonner Private Portfolio etc.).
We will also be adding a library of free reports to new subscribers. These reports introduce you to our big investment ideas and research for 2022 and beyond. We add to this library periodically. And it also includes the audio and text transcripts of all the guests that appear on our subscriber-only Zoom calls and podcasts.
Why won’t you accept my payment?
If we were unable to process your payment, please accept our apologies. There may be several reasons for it. First of all, our bank is in Ireland. It accepts charges from most major credit cards. At this time, and in some isolated cases, we are unable to accept payment from Discover Card.
We are working with our credit processor to add Discover Card to our list of accepted payment methods. We also hope to add PayPal later this year. At this time, we cannot accept personal checks and do not take payments over the phone.
Also please note that since our offices are headquartered near Bill Bonner’s home on the Blackwater River in Ireland, your credit card company my identify the charge for your subscription as ‘suspicious’ or even ‘fraudulent.’ In most cases, you can resolve this by calling your credit card company and assuring them it’s your intention to pay for a subscription to Bonner Private Research, published by Blackwater River Press, whose bank is in the Republic of Ireland.
How can I contact you if I’m having a problem?
You can reply to each post on the website if you have a problem. When we see it, we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can. Or you can email us directly at bonnerprivateresearch@gmail.com
We don’t have a Help Desk at the moment. Nor do we have a toll-free customer service number for you to call. We hope to add both later this year. Our apologies for any inconvenience this causes.
For now, please rest assured we’ll act as quickly as we can to help you access everything you’ve paid for and answer any of your queries.
Why am I not getting your emails?
If you’ve signed up and your payment is confirmed but you haven’t received any e-mails from us, our emails are probably going to your Promotions folder (in g-mail) or perhaps your spam folder (in Outlook, Yahoo Mail, and others).
The best way to avoid this to add Bonner Private Research to your contacts in your email service. Also, if you DO see an e-mail from us in your spam folder, mark it as NOT spam and your e-mail provider will send it to your inbox.
For a short video on how to do this in G-mail, click here.
If you use Outlook for e-mail, click here to learn how to Whitelist us.
If you use Yahoo Mail, click here.
Do you need a social media or Twitter account to be a subscriber?
No. You don’t need any social media accounts to follow us. Everything will be sent to you by e-mail and posted at our website at www.bonnerprivateresearch.substack.com
But you can find us on Twitter @BonnerPrivate. And if you want to share any of our free research on social media, please feel free to do. We do ask you to NOT share the research published and intended only for paying subscribers.
And stay tuned more features, including member’s only community forums, Zoom calls, podcasts and more in 2022!
